It's the same where you try to sell a lot of games, put a rare/desirable game in there and fill it with junk. It's how I have several copies of Caesars casino on SNES. Mystery boxes just give all random so you don't know what value you're getting.
@@mntngr346 Obviously no one is putting retro games in a blind box though, They're such easy sellers and blind boxes are known for being stock that doesn't sell. He threw in some decently valuable or just fun games though like Yakuza.
@@megami215 I'm starting to agree here. I used to really enjoy this channel, but all it is these days is just recorded footage of rummaging through the local flea market/collectibles store, and then a paid advertisement. This is quickly becoming a "skip" in my viewing rotation.
Disappointing that you had bunch of modern stuff for the RETRO collector. Could be just a mistake. A retro mystery box would be interesting to open up! Hope for more like that in the future.
Here’s Boomer is an early 80’s tv show about a dog named Boomer that goes adventures helping people. The dog would hide in strange places to help. My mom saw the show and the dog hiding, and as a baby I would hide so she has called me Boomer ever since. I actually own that lunchbox! Great memories thanks Rick!!
I wish you would have done a segment on the puzzles and Paperback Books. I know it's not really Retro related but I love finding books and puzzles at great prices.
I probably wouldn't deal with that seller again. He didnt take into account what you're into and dumped off a lot of random junk and niche titles on you.
Looks like the mystery box was just a bunch of stuff the guy couldnt sell so just offed it all in one shot least cost wise you got what you paid for but a bunch of junk 20$ modern games just seems like hes using you to sell what he couldnt cause theres no nolstalga value or collection value in that box
As a retro game/toy collector (small) I like my self setup as is, because it shows what i picked up and when time wise,my only setup guide is time,of course i change things around in time a bit,but my favourites will always stays in the glory and the rest still on the stage. Not sure if you'll ever see this comment Rick but that Furby, that's the exact color Furby I got back in the day! I think I still have it somewhere. It was cool going through that box of games and nostalgic items too!
You should keep that Capcom Belt Action collection, great collection of beat’em ups from the 80s and 90s and the box is big because it comes with posters of the original covers for the games
Dude just gave you a bunch of walmart clearance. Weren't they like 3 cents piece or something like that? I remember watching Phoenix Resales video on it
Was thinking the same thing, pretty sure I saw Phoenix resale but most of those at Walmart for dirt cheap but I trust Ricks tallying and it must be worth the $1000 to resell
@@Mistergorehound Fair point but pretty sure he wouldn't have purchased a $1000 mystery box if it wasn't solely for Content. Us average Joe's would have felt ripped off for sure lol

Hey just wanted to point out that you should consider emptying those surge and duff cans. My can of New Coke developed a pin hole and leaked all over the place. Luckily it didn't damage anything, but my laptop was right under the shelf. Can't wait to see the finished room! I have the same idea - rotating out stuff every so often.
No green super soaker? Cross fire? Power rangers sound effect gloves and dagger? Loved those growing up. Still never forgave my mom for selling all my favorite childhood toys at a garage sale. 🤬
Meh. The controllers were cool. The rest sucked. You want a real mystery box, feel free to let me know. I’ve been collecting and selling 80’s and 90’s toys and games for 20 years. 😁
I'm afraid 40 minutes will not be enough unless if you rush through your collection. You can easily fill 2 hours with al the great goodies you have in your room.
Love the pacing in this video. I personally was pretty disappointed in the mystery box. But with mystery boxes you're paying for the experience of opening it.
How about creating a virtual room tour video. Then you use the same shelf for multiple items. Yes understand that it would take a lot of effort and time to record but would be a great way to display all you have without the need for all to be on display constantly.
One of the guys from lost ark are from my home town winterville NC. I used to go to lost ark every weekend when I lived in Greensboro. It's a awesome store. You should check it out 1 day retro
Since it seems Mr. Rick could use the pointers: Guide to pronouncing Japanese: First, know your vowel sounds. A=ah, I=ee, U=oo, E=eh, O=oh. Second, Japanese characters consist of vowels, vowel/consonant combinations, and the letter N. You can use that knowledge to break words down. Let's use Castle of Shikigami as an example. Hey retro- I don't know about the US but certainly in the UK there's a lot of value in film novelizations. I'd look into it if I were you. Maybe a new untapped revenue stream (I buy and sell rare books on the side btw 😁)
That belt action big box collectors edition is pretty sweet. I have the standard game that I got from Playasia as the physical release only came out in Asia and we only got a digital release. Great video.
I would have shit had I got that mystery box. It was tailored to me! Castle shikigami iii, and Game tengoku sealed paradise box! Not to mention loads of other cool Niche things! You got my box Rick!
@Retro Rick- I definitely think its time for you to invest in a ps4 and/or switch. A lot of the games he sent you in the mystery box weren't random-- they're modern games designed in pure nostalgic glory. I have over 600 ps4 games, and would be happy to go over what you should get, avoid, and gems!
Your stuffs on display looks very clean, how did you manage to keep them in such dust free condition? I have similar shelfs with displays of childhood stuffs I like to see, but always hard to keep them clean.

How to get rid of your video games junks and doubles that don't sell well is to make a mystery box LOL.
There wasn't a lot of garbage stuff here. It was mostly niche titles but those always have an audience. I honestly would have loved this box.
It's the same where you try to sell a lot of games, put a rare/desirable game in there and fill it with junk. It's how I have several copies of Caesars casino on SNES. Mystery boxes just give all random so you don't know what value you're getting.
Most games were pretty bad... But I saw couple gems. I would have maybe bought 2 or 3 games out of that mystery box.
Rick, I know there are a lot of gaming guitars out there. That white Xplorer guitar you saw is worth picking up, it can be worth upwards of $70-$80.
I thought the same thing. That's the only one that does sell lol
I agree they also getting pretty hard to find.
Very glad I found mine at a garage sale for $10. Very desirable especially for clone hero on pc because it already has a USB plug in.

Copper is a good watch but his prices are outrageous at times
Rick would have been happier if there were 200 copies of Mario Duck Hunt in there :)
200 x 5 bucks a piece = $1000
Buying a mystery box for $1000 then just auctioning it off to make your money back just seems like a weird cycle for free content.
He said it himself, there was nothing in it that he would want to keep. It was 90% modern games. The seller should have made a more balanced box.
