I like Denon PMA-800NE. I like sound from Denon PMA-800NR to acoustic Polk Audio Tsi 500 (floor standing). Denon PMA-800NE was connected with ONKYO DX-C390 (CD player).
Quite a different sound compared to the Denon PMA600NE, a fair bit more detailed, not quite as much bass, less warm overall, quite neutral comparatively. Leans more towards the analytical side with a touch more brightness. You may want a warmer amp for Rock, modern EDM, Hip Hop and heavier music in general.
Had the PMA800NE for a few years and it never really excited me. I guess I fell into a routine with it. Now bought a preloved Marantz 7200 and boy what a difference! Warmer and more engaging but also more detailed. On the other hand, my brother (a sound engineer, while I am a philistine) really liked the sound of the Denon.
