We here in Finland pay taxes and education system get money from it. That is why it is free for students. Did you mention communism? Heh. if everybody have same chances is not communism, it is good invest to Finland future. We pay taxes and we get it back to us. Some countries, like USA they pay taxes but where that money goes? Not back to people...
My school doesn't have a Playstation or Pool table (We have a Ping-pong table outside though), but there's a youth center like a couple hundred meters from the school and that place has a Playstation and a Pool table and I'm pretty sure that there was a ping-pong table too
It's called socialism not communism.. those differ like patriotism and nazism.. Offering everybody free school and university studies and essentially free healthcare doesn't make Finland much less capitalist. Business still dictates a lot things. And you can use private health care if you don't mind using thousands instead of tens or max few 100€. (Private health care makes you wait for non-urgent operations some days where public health care makes you wait possibly months, so there's trade-off) Motive behind socialized education and healthcare is lessen the financial effects of things you have no control over, like if you born into money or not or if you get really sick. People don't need to save in case of sickness or take any sort of insurances and medical debt is unheard-of thing here. And also there's no company sick-days, if you are sick you are sick and probably get paid by workers union or government while you are home getting better (so technically there's unlimited sick-days in USA terms). Where's the catch you must ask. Well as in USA you pay little over 6% tax while in Finland you pay 21%. But for that we get a lot, like giving birth is free and government pays you 100€/kid/month until they turn 17. Sorry you got me going 😅 Sometimes it feel that USA tries to measure the country's greatness by how many ultra-rich people they have while nordics try to measure greatness by how little very poor we have. Subscribed btw :)
It's not socialism. Those are just what's called social services. Wikipedia summons it up pretty well: "Social services are now generally regarded globally as a 'necessary function' of society and a mechanism through which governments may address societal issues. The provision of social services by governments is linked to the belief of universal human rights, democratic principles, as well as religious and cultural values."
@@akyhne well it's social democracy. Maybe calling it socialism gives wrong impression indeed even though social democracy spawns from socialism. Social democracy awknoledges that capitalism is driving force of society and tries to smooth the negative effects of capitalism while embracing the positive sides. (Instead of trying to suppress capitalism SD utilizes it via taxation and provides social services with the tax money)
taxes are very high, the country only has 5.5 million people, that's why many things are just free, everyone pays money for the country to run smooth and no americans have a bad idea about communism and socialism, neither of those type of goverments run finland, they have free market economy with social investments, it's a mix of concepts, "I take this fbit rom capitalism and this bit from socialism" they did an amazing job with it
That's regular school. Big difference with finnish or some other nation is trust and understanding that if we own something together and i broke it I lose it too. That's why we don't usually broke our stuff with purpose. And you need to learn what communism really is.
The video is a bit misleading, there are tests and and the students get grades. But schools are not compared with each other in public, it' seen that would not support the idea of equality. The schools get a certain money and they decide how to use it, for a playstation or for a field trip, for an example. There is "positive discrimination", like in my city schools with more immigrant kids get a bit more money, to keep the class size smaller and so.
Dude, you have no clue what communism is! Is the US a communist country because you have public roads? Is the US a communist country because you have public funded police?
Not a rich school, just a regular Finnish school. And not for rich kids, ALL kids. Also, not communism, social democracy.
😂👍
Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮. Yes , that is just an ordinary Finnish school ...
8:55 but its right. Id rather not have the added pressure at school by having my progress constantly spread and for the parents.

You should react to Pasi Sahlberg, his Ted Talk or any video actually about finnish school systems.. seriously
