  • Very early in the morning on May 9, 2024 one of the most violent thunderstorms I've seen in years hit Anderson County, SC. This clip was filmed right after the tornado sirens in town sounded. I didn't capture a tornado in my video but someone several miles away did so we know one passed relatively close to here. Although one of the dog pens was partially collapsed by a wind gust there was surprisingly little damage here. My electricity didn't go out at any point although some of my neighbors lost power as you can see in the video.

For real! I was astonished at how bad it was. Let's hope we don't get another line of storms like that.

We got promised storms last night but they didn't amount to anything. Love me a good thunderstorm!

So do I. But when they get biblical like this they make me very nervous. This was one of the most violent thunderstorms I've seen in a long time. It was wild. I wouldn't have been so freaked out by it if there had been a place to shelter in but I opted to go for a house whose rent is cheap and whose construction is not of the best quality. It's a nice little house and I've grown quite fond of it but it's not going to do well against even an EF1 tornado. That probably wouldn't kill us though just wreck the place. Anything higher and I suspect all that will be left when it's all over will be the foundation. Also I have a lot of chems here and everyone knows that tornadoes and chemicals don't mix (unless you're far away and it's not your shit that's getting wrecked; then they're fucking cool).

Yeah it scared the shit out of me. I like my little house but I have no illusions about how well it's built. If we get hit by a tornado in this house then barring some freak miracle we are just going to die. There is nowhere to run. Poor Lucky was so scared by the thunder and lightning that all he could do was lay on the bed and shake uncontrollably.

For everyone but me. I have no idea why but I never lost power through this entire thing. Almost everyone around me did though.

Now you know why the place was affordable get some storm insurance. You might be able to get a discount on a storm shelter

The place was affordable because the house is so small that it hasn't rented out in a while. The owner sweetened the deal a bit to get a tenant in here. The construction ins't the best quality either. However, it's adequate and my pathological neat freak powers have been used to make it a pretty nice place. As for tornadoes the chances that you will be hit by one are remote and good tornado shelters are expensive to build. They are basically like little bank vaults made from steel or reinforced concrete. And you can't really take them with you when you move. So I and many other people around here cope by fervently praying that the tornado doesn't hit us.

Thunderstorms are quite neat and i sort of like them but I am always inside with a thunderstorm. Millions of volts Yikes. We get in Quebec very weird changes in weather patterns. I am scared to think of what this Planet will be like in 25-30 years!! I do definitely believe in the science that Climate change is real and the bees sadly are dying off. No bees no crops I do anything possible to keep the bees alive.

I can remember people saying that the planet would be a wasteland of climate catastrophe when I was a kid in the 80s. Back then the world was supposed to have gone to hell by 2025. I'm sure in 50 years things won't be as bad as they are predicting now. A lot of things change over time.
