@@KingLuffy_17 correct. Just proper lane marking, wider sidewalks, less 2 wheelers, will greatly solve this problem.
Thin sidewalks cause people to walk on the road and cause confusion.
We only need to separate pedestrians from vehicles and also vehicles from amongst themselves by proper lane marking.

@@heliothrax7716 Chinese government can easily remove buildinfs to make way for wider roads, footpaths, they could easily demolish slums, encourchements and other old areas to make way for planned residential and commercial developments. Places like East Bengaluru, Pune, East Hyderabad etc do not even have a proper grid network and they never will unless they do a Chinese style redevelopment scheme or a Gujarat style TP scheme (which could take decades). Much of Delhi and Kolkata and much of the Gangetic plains is made up of ugly middle-class ghettos (which cant be as easily redeveloped as single storey slums for poorer class) with 5-storey houses and narrow roads. In India, Chinese style redevelopments are very slow and rare and due to resistance from 'nimbys', activitsts and politicians, its all happening at a slower pace.

I hope more people could watch the videos of China or even philippines before comparing India's rubbish cities with Shanghai or Manilla. The dirt in the middle of the road or slums in patches are such a sad sight. Even the colours that are painted along the road are so dull, as if nobody cares about aesthetics. Most of the buildings are world class. And they are mostly fully occupied and offer some of the best jobs in the city. So these are NOT empty buildings.
But, sadly, the road quality leaves much to be desired - as already pointed out by others. Also, there are too many arbitrary road blocks - very unplanned and chaotic. Maybe things will be a bit better when the metro line and high speed train line are completed.
I am surprised no one has mentioned the root cause of the problem. The utterly self-centered and clueless political leadership that ran the country after 1947. Did everything to destroy growth. Few people know how in the 1950s, the Indian economy was actually ahead of most ASEAN nations. The License Raj and the socialistic nationalization of all banks destroyed so many viable and emerging businesses. Only the Congress cronies survived. One of the first Asian tigers was reduced to a tortoise.
Indian banks were expanding across Asia and Africa, Our largest banks (before nationalization) were some of the best run in Asia before they were taken over by you know who. Industrial investment was averaging 18% annual growth and fairly well spread across much of the country before the Congress nationalized everything and put in debilitating state controls. Even agricultural investment was at 10%. There was an amazing spirit of genuine patriotism and earnest optimism that held the imagination of the country back then. By the mid 70s and 80s, it was all gone.
When growth in India had slowed to a crawl, the ASEAN nations began seeing explosive growth. India actually had better intellectual resources and a stronger scientific and engineering foundation. It was all wasted or strangulated by idiotic, corrupt and myopic babudom. And now we can't get rid of it.
Truth is father and daughter were both economic criminals. We are still playing a heavy price.
Sections of our private sector are now thriving (and approaching world class in some respects) but the municipal government sector is yet to be liberated from the decades of "satyanaas". The national government is at least trying hard. But at the local level, it is still quite a mess. And there are saboteurs everywhere to make things worse.

And Shastri was murdered in Tashkent by the KGB who wanted a pliable socialist idiot - you know who - in power.

yea only if we aligned more with the USA and west back in those times. Grateful for USSR/Russian help during the early wars when the world turned their back on us, but their economic style copied by the INC leaders ruined the economy until it was liberalized in the 90s. But by then China had already beaten us in a game where we had a head-start. British left us in shambles but we had the resources and manpower to become the largest manufacturing and service industry focused country in history rivaling not China but the US. But here we are....hopefully the current party and future leaders are actually patriotic and want to fix the nation without further dividing it.

One of the major challenges with Mumbai metro area is its low GDP of just $150 billion. It needs to double quickly. It is losing ground to other metro areas like Bengaluru, Hyderabad that are $100-120 billion gdp and fast becoming richer than Mumbai’s. Pune metro area also is around $70-80 billion now and growing at 2x Mumbai metro area rate. If you look at new investments pouring in, it is mostly in Pune metro area. Mumbai needs to figure out a way to grow into a global city.

That means the 400-450 billion USD that figure has shown is the gdp of Mumbai metropolitan region??? Forget about Mumbai than delhi and Kolkata will take on Mumbai someday.

@@soumyadeepchowdhury3585 Entire Maharashtra is $450 billion gdp. Mumbai metro area contributes 30% of that. Pune metro area contributes 10%. Hyderabad and Bengaluru metro areas are growing rapidly and chances are that they will catch up and even beat Mumbai metro area soon. Mumbai metro area GDP growth is underperforming. Pune metro area is growing much faster than Mumbai as most manufacturers and tech firms go there. Mumbai metro GDP cannot increase rapidly without a lot of manufacturing and tech jobs. Tier 2 cities in China have more gdp than Mumbai metro area. That is a thing that should be insulting for Mumbai, but no one seems to care.

Good video Anuj. But BKC looks like a dead place, as if only made for the rich and famous. All big company office hugh buildings seen, but not too many people, on the streets. And if there are so many big companies, wonder were are all the jobs for common people has gone. Also no khau gali seen, no chai ki tapri, and also no bustling resturants seen. So where does the common man go to eat in BKC, the common cheaper food of mumbai. No BEST buses seen, though could see autos and taxis, and that would also be expensive for a common working person. Looks like the BKC has only been developed for the wealthy and industralist people who can afford this luxury.
