For those who are asking why so many potholes, here's my answer :- 1) The project was undertaken by BMC ( Bombay Municipal Corporation ) and is the biggest project undertaken by BMC in its entire history. 2) BMC insisted on using Bitumen roads instead of Concrete, likely to reduce costs. But the catch with bitumen roads is that they require constant maintenance, especially during heavy monsoons. 3) Almost all major projects undertaken by the central government (NHAI) use concrete, like the Delhi Mumbai expressway, Samruddhi Mahamarg, Atal Setu, Bandra Worli sea link, Surat Chennai expressway, etc etc etc. I think BMC should have went with concrete as well because cost of maintaining the bitumen roads would eventually catch up or even cross that of upfront cost of concrete. Anuj N, pin this comment if you think others should know this information as well.
Done purposely be BMC because they want their own wretched third class contractors to do the patchwork every year and pocket the money. With concrete, they can't do that. Soon, this road is going to be a disgrace and we will see pothole videos on youtube.
Even I think they try to pass it out to easily by just using bitumen where concrete would have done better but hope that it will be fixed like other bridges have. Like some stretch are so good and some are so sub par
Bitumen road will always have potholes ..coz water displaces it.... On such bridges.... concrete can't be used coz it would need thousands of more crore coz of weight and adding additional supporting columns and pillars.... This patchwork seems to have done in a hurry to open.... otherwise its not noticeable.... definitely a L for contractor

People only focus on that 50 meter of span, and assume all wrong. Those patches are not for potholes, they are done because of water was getting collected like small puddles, u can see watermarks just behind those patches too , at those places, that why to level up they put layer on it. (that the sign of bad sloping, on that section) (And patching work is used for potholes as well but with different filling)
I know the reasons I am a civil engineer it is natural to have patches due to salty water winds if u live on west side of mumbai it's certain that electronic products get broken fast same reason for roads the layer erodes away nobody developed any tech yet
Yeah, very disappointing actually, because there are no potholes on sealink and MTHL as well. Then why potholes on coastal road that too being inaugurated latest 🤔
Impose highest ever penalty on the companies who received this contract to build the coastal road. Its not even an year ago when this is ready and this is what we get, pothole filled roads. This is a complete insult on our tax money and each and every dept or the company associated with this must be answerable to this issue.
abe potholes nahi hai gadahe neeche ka soil kahin pe sink kerta hai to road pe minor cracks aate hain or phir use upar se bhar ke barabar kiya jata hai. And this whole is newly reclaimed land so itna leeway to dena padega.
More important thing is to create the Framework infra which is complete. Due to heavy rain Bituman road life r low in mumbai. In future either shd go for PQC road or have to repair it every year.
@@G40_VannufromBharat There are not potholes because those roads are made out of concrete and those last very long where as this is not made out of concrete, these roads have shorter life than concrete roads. Hope that answers your question and personally they should have used concrete for this road.

Right the the beginning you can see the cab in the left most lane almost jutting out on the road. And the people jogging on the road when there is already a wide enough footpath. Even with the best roads and infrastructure these guys will never change
Nice video. Two questions Pl. (1) What day was it and what was time. Mubai and no traffic? (2) What kind of car you were driving? EV? No your car noise at all. Thank you.
Excellent video - I still wonder how is South Bound Coastal road to connect from Worli sea link ? Would it be same as today ? Then how is the other Arch Bridge is going to be used ? There cannot be crossing by cars coming from North to South to go to 2nd Arch Bridge ? or the course of movement will change once the 2nd Arch Bridge would be ready ?
Exactly, that's what I didn't understand. Samruddhi Mahamarg is completely built out of PQC material which is supposed to withstand such harsh weather condition, don't know why they didn't go for the same.
Finally after 2-3 decades of abject neglect, infrastructure development is happening in Mumbai , but infrastructure in Delhi has got huge investments , similarly infrastructure development in Mumbai needs both state and central government to invest heavily . If Mumbai speeds up Indian GDP growth will touch 10% , but Mumbai slowing down and wasting time in traffic has meant Indian GDP growth rates is just about 7% , so time to think and invest
There’s something off about whatever is built in India. Maybe it's the yellow/black stripes on the sides, the uneven road markings, or the fact that the road color isn’t black enough.
Was waiting for your video! Good one as always... How is south bound traffic routed? Do they have to exit BWSL at worli and get back again on coastal road? I thought southbound connector would be shared by both sides.
No, the newly opened southbound connector will only cater to northbound traffic as of now. By the end of this year, this connector will begin to cater southbound flow, and current northbound flow will be directed to the northbound connector that shall be opened by then.
This has just been done for a very small group people who have 4 wheeler vehicles and have go commute regularly to suburbs or south mumbai Not saying it's useless, but No entry for 2 wheelers. If same importance to pace of work was given to Metro Line 3, then so much of traffic would have been averted.
The potholes being patched up should be a bigger concern, it simply unacceptable to use bitumen to save a few rupees on a project that should last decades. Also, the on-ramp into the old worli sea link seems like it’s just destined for accidents to happen. Does anyone else not feel like that’s not the safest merge?
That’s a placeholder merge, as the southbound connector is actually used for northbound traffic. When the northbound connector is ready by the end of the year, the merge should be seamless.
I saw Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Jakarta, Manilla, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala lumpur, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, Ho Chi Minh city, Yangon, Taipei etc. Their footpaths are wide and low in height with grey marvel or rock or stone or tiles whatever. Their road dividers are lower in height and full of greeneries and tree plantations. Modern design of street lights and traffic lights. Lots of gardens, landscapes and quite flat pavements. No political parties posters. Litter-bins are everywhere. People use subways, footbridges and sky walk for walking purpose. No red paint or stain of beetle leaf beetle nuts juices or any tobacco products. No trash on roads or streets or lanes or gardens. No leaflet or posters sticked on any building. Not much noisy. No unnecessary honking. Low air and sound pollution. Mostly dividers are painted either black and white or a few are red and white not much black and yellow stripes. Which makes those cities look like a beautiful world-class international city. Which is clean and green. And these things are missing in Indian metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Trivandrum, Chandigarh, Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Patna, Agra, Kanpur, Bhopal, Indore, Bhuveneswar, Nagpur, Guwahati, Greater Noida, Navi Mumbai, Dholera, Gift city, Vizag etc. No matter how much infrastructure Indian government develops Indian metro cities will never look like a world-class international city. A country does not develop just by building tall skyscrapers. It depends on many things. Thats why Indian metro cities are far behind South East and East Asian cities and other Western European, North American, and Oceanian cities.

I was excited at the beginning of the video and infrastructure development in our country always makes me happy. However the reality is that the construction quality of these projects is rarely up to the mark. There are already repaired patches on this new 13 thousand crore project and that's simply unacceptable. The lane markings have already started fading. we waste money painting tunnels with artwork which is completely nonsensical. Tunnel walls are not meant to showcase art, as such distractions can cause accidents. Many countries have even banned billboards for the same reason, as they can distract drivers. there are strict regulations to preserve aesthetics, reduce distractions, and improve safety. It surprises and saddens me that as a country we are capable of landing on the moon but we still can't build good quality roads or make sensible infrastructure decisions even after spending such huge amounts of money.
No offense to your video, which is great, by the way! However, I'm a bit disappointed by the project - there is hardly any coastal aspect in this road? The tunnel walls look like they were constructed by contractors who typically build public restrooms. Damn.
the road already has potholes even before being fully operational... road quality is still so bad... imagine the condition after 1year of full operation.
Most of the morons complaining about the patchwork have never driven on roads outside of India. I drove on this road about 3 weeks ago when I was in Mumbai.... and it matched up to the European roads I travel on everyday. Patchwork is common even on those roads... not to mention this is probably the most high standard patchwork I've ever seen in India! It is very smooth to drive on! My legs felt like they were at a spa after having the misery of driving on Indian traffic for quite a few days. If only they would raise the speed limit to 100+ on certain patches. 😈

Road patches on a premier expressway which just opened??? BJP, that is a decline in quality in infra. Came here to enjoy the Coastal Road, ended up being disappointed.
It is not an expressway. It is not made by BJP neither Modi nor Gadkari nor Fadnavis. It is made by BMC. Centre built the Atal Setu, look at its quality.
@@Adi-oc2hd I understand that, but the government has a major stake in this one. This is still technically an expressway without designation since it is a freeway. Amazing! And also baffling how shoddy some of the road work is.
@@updy so damn true, Indian corruption at its finest
For those who are asking why so many potholes, here's my answer :-
1) The project was undertaken by BMC ( Bombay Municipal Corporation ) and is the biggest project undertaken by BMC in its entire history.
Nice try to defend the poor quality of the road but you should try to do proper research before writing such a long essay dear ignorant joker 🤡
Samruddhi mahamargh, atal setu and Bandra Worli sea link are not made by NHAI
Done purposely be BMC because they want their own wretched third class contractors to do the patchwork every year and pocket the money. With concrete, they can't do that. Soon, this road is going to be a disgrace and we will see pothole videos on youtube.
@@phattunitexactly this has been going on since time immemorial
Even I think they try to pass it out to easily by just using bitumen where concrete would have done better but hope that it will be fixed like other bridges have. Like some stretch are so good and some are so sub par

On such bridges.... concrete can't be used coz it would need thousands of more crore coz of weight and adding additional supporting columns and pillars....
This patchwork seems to have done in a hurry to open.... otherwise its not noticeable.... definitely a L for contractor

It's really sad that the road already has potholes and they've just covered it up with concrete.

Impose highest ever penalty on the companies who received this contract to build the coastal road. Its not even an year ago when this is ready and this is what we get, pothole filled roads. This is a complete insult on our tax money and each and every dept or the company associated with this must be answerable to this issue.

Hey Nice video, does this road shows on google maps?
Nice video. Two questions Pl. (1) What day was it and what was time. Mubai and no traffic? (2) What kind of car you were driving? EV? No your car noise at all. Thank you.
This was shot at 8am on a Friday.
I’m driving a petrol-powered Volkswagen Virtus.
If you could put a small window of map as well would be great experience for viewers!
The southbound connector is being used for northbound traffic for now.
Oh, hey!!! New marvelous video! Thanks! Amazing, how much is built!
This new route is a game changer for sure!
Mumbai experiences heavy rainfall every year, so why wasn't the road built with concrete?
Exactly, that's what I didn't understand. Samruddhi Mahamarg is completely built out of PQC material which is supposed to withstand such harsh weather condition, don't know why they didn't go for the same.
It wasn’t built with concrete? It should have, what was it built with?
I agree it should’ve been made with concrete

so this means both the arch bridge will have one way traffic towards bandra . .
What car are you driving? Also, do people respect the lane markings? I saw a bus lane with no buses
Is the connection between coastal road and bandra worli sealink open for 24 hrs?
Wow
Is it just me or there are chances of traffic pile up and accidents at the sea link connector?

Anuj why is there so much patch work in this road? I expected better
Arch bridge 3 second me paar ho gaya😂😂😂😂
We come long way we have to cover much longer way
They should clear the temporary structures and debris ASAP . It looks ugly .
No toll for BWSL?
BWSL is tolled.
₹100 for single and ₹150 for return journey.
This is a truth, but it’s not just indian cities it’s south Asian cities too I think

10:05 Extremely dangerous and sub standard design of the merging. Will this be the final design?
In any other country, it would be considered extremely unsafe and not allowed to be built. Only in India will you find such dangerous infra being built in 2024.
Only in third worlds not just india but yeah I get what your saying they should build with better quality
Patch work road level ka to karte jisse ride smooth ho bumpy nhi..
Infrastructure to ban raha hai par quality maintain nhi kar rahe..👎
Damn.

Most of the morons complaining about the patchwork have never driven on roads outside of India.
