Truly inspiring, as I love your whimsical layouts as they show so much imagination. This one is amazing as well. Please do not stop posting videos, they are not only encouraging, but heart warming as well. I live in the US and hope to start bring more British train operations to show the diversity of 19th Century steam in Great Britain.
Many thanks for your lovely words, they are very much appreciated, I have many FB railway friends in the US, they build some fantastic layouts, I will definitely start showing more of my normal ( if thats the correct term 😂) layouts on TH-cam as well, all the best Carl
Thanks Steve 👍looks like your checking them all out , i had better start adding some more 🙃seriously your input is very much appreciated , all the best Carl
Great work Carl, you have done a wonderful job in a very short time! I love Welsh railways, when I was over there in 2017 we had a wonderful time riding and photographing trains. One day I hope to build a Welsh slate layout as good as yours, thanks for the inspiration, but it will take me much longer than 3 weeks, still in the early stages building OO9 using the base plan you had on your On30 layout , plus a bit more. You have given me some ideas on the buildings you have used on this Micro Layout, very inspirational! Cheers keep up the great videos. Kind Regards Colin.
Hi Colin, good to hear from you and thank you for your kind words and encouragment, I have seen on FB you have started a new 009 layout (I saw a clip you did on the wiring, very impressed, its a skill I need to work on). The On30 plan you mentioned, I first saw way back, built in 009, it just worked so well, it was at an exhibition from memory in the 80's, I remember watching the reaction of the public they were just mezmerised, I thought I would like to build a layout like that one day, wish I still had that On30 layout, my problem is I keep running out of room, although I do have an idea for a small one as I still have some Bachmann bits in a box somewhere, I cant believe the price some of the bits are achieving on Ebay. Anyway all the best and please please put some clips on TH-cam of your new build if you get the chance. Happy modelling.
Been following your progress on Fb, its great to hear and see how/why its all come together. Amazing work Carl, all done in 3 wks, impressive. All the best. Brian @ The Angels
Very nice. I missed this one somehow, needing a bit of visual encouragement to get on my O scale small layout, i really need something to run as the weather gets colder…
Great layout and very nice rolling stock or "wagons" as you blokes call them. I've never heard of 009 narrow gauge but I can appreciate the detail of your work. Is this narrow gauge O scale? I've been collecting some Lionel 027 to go with my train set like I had when I was 3 years old. I model HO scale at the turn of the 19th century so I usually have to build my rolling stock from kits like IHC, Walthers, Silver Streak, Roundhouse & Tichy Train Group. Most of the turn of the century rolling stock is based on the truss rod flatcar with no brakes or very early K-brakes (AB brakes didn't come out until the late 20's) or grab irons. I just finished an old time blacksmith car for the D.L.&K (Lakawana) which I painted with acrylics and weathered it with oil paints to give me that greasy look like a well used wooden covered flatcar of that period. Takes longer for it to dry but it's worth the wait. Cheers from an old modeler from across the pond in eastern TN
Thanks Rusty, I'm not very technical in fact don't know much at all really, just light Building stuff, I've made over 100 layouts for different folk mostly micros, but very little about scales, 009 seems quite big here in the UK probably because it's so small you can get a nice layout in limited space, your modelling fantastic I'd love to see more, all the best to you
Hello David, and many thanks, yes, the buildings and figures are HO, I used 009 peco track, then mainly Bachman narrow gauge buildings and people are a mixture
After visiting Wales and Ffestinog I built an OO9 self contained loop track but not with this skill and detail. It was my first layout and might show it just to meet and talk to folks. So this was perfect to see. It needs more shares and views,, Welsh narrow gauge is a great segment of the hobby and has my favorite people in it. 🧩🧩
I fell very lucky having been bought up in Borth just outside Porthmadog , no health and safety back then you could just walk into the engine sheds, that sealed my love for railways especially narrow gauge, I hope you show your layout and maybe even do a clip for TH-cam I for one would love to see it, Happy modelling and i wish you all the very best
Hello, yes it is, its from the Bachmann 009 Narrow gauge range , lovely models but rather on the expensive side,I was lucky to pick up a collection of second hand models on our local market stall, all the best Carl
Hi J, yes its all part of the same casting , Scenecraft 44-0102 slate water tower, no longer in production I believe , crazy really as they sold incredibly well they have produced another kit, but not quite so nice in my opinion , all the best
fantastic work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheers from CT USA!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow Emett !!
Amazing
Many thanks, it was a fun build
Wow ,Very Nice !
Fantastic - what size building and figures do you use with 009, do you use N guage or HO guage buildings and people?

At the 9:40 mark there’s a structure with a green “tank” on top in the video, is that a water tank for the loco? Cheers.

@@carlroberts2539 Carl, is that a staircase on its left side of the tank tower? Not part of original kit, but you added? Cheers, J
