    Well done both. Really tough weather day. Energy sapping and humid. Sweaty and loosing salt and fluid. Then cold and windy. Mental strength from you both. Respect.

    Fantastic again from the both of you. Seriously gary that’s some determination right there. That looked brutal. I’m hoping I can get back to the lakes soon after a couple of bad injuries. Your videos make me want to get back there asap! Keep it up 👍

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hopefully Greg, injuries are so frustrating.
      I just decided I’d sooner grind it out than spend the next few weeks regretting a DNF. I wasn’t injured (apart from my finger and a few bruises 😂), it was just sheer exhaustion so not a valid reason to me (at the time). As long as I could keep moving it was good enough 👍

    Excellent run there guys, well done on completing the Ultra. I never want a DNF either so I would rather crawl than give up.
    Really need to get back up to the Lakes - everyone keeps asking me when I'm trying for a Bob Graham.

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much. DNF is a strange one. Like you, I’ll crawl to the finish and I certainly felt it was like that at times on Saturday. There were so many times where I wanted to take an easier option but just couldn’t do it. I think it would have to be a serious injury or being timed out.
      It’s strange what we put our bodies through in the name of fun! 😂

  • @UrsaRyan
    @UrsaRyan ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Weirdly my wife and I were in the Keswick Kong shop when you were out on the course - we didn't see you both specifically but we were trying on climbing harnesses whilst watching the markers travel around the interactive map!
    Hope the finger is holding out, well done Cheryl for leading the way! Great watch, thank you for putting these up = )

      @TrailRunningCouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much for watching. My finger is still a little tender but that wasn’t going to stop me! Tough day out on the fells but got through it. Cheryl was definitely the stronger out of the both of us so helped with my motivation.

    Read before damning me. I'm glad you felt the way you have, I did my first Ultra this year, only 50 miles, the M2L, and I've not come back like I thought I would and it's nice to see with your experience that it hit you like a ton of bricks. On the flip side, I think both of you are f%#King fantastic, love your videos, eager to watch the next one all the time so you can't! stop

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Darren 😂 Seriously though I know what you mean. These long ultras take so much out of you, more than you imagine. After the aches and pains have gone you think you’re good to go. That is until you try! Running just feels hard at that point, almost like you’ve lost so much fitness in such a short space of time. It’s hard not to be hard on yourself.
      Congratulations on your M2L finish, it’s quite an achievement isn’t it? Any more planned?
      Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. It’s much appreciated 👍

      @TrailRunningCouple now I know I can do one, the world is my oyster as it were, I just have to be careful not to bite off more than I can chew. Very jealous of where you run but I am so out of practice with mountain experience and navigation that I'm going to have to work my way up to it. Would love to join you both but I feel my wife and I are way off of your experience and pace. Would learn a great deal though.

      It was indeed. We booked Chester 100 last minute so it was never in our plans. I doubt we would have opted for this race so soon after Chester. Still, we got around and are now going to take a full week off running. Hopefully it’ll be enough!

      We definitely pushed more towards our limits in this race than we’re ever done. It has to be done at times or you’ll always have a barrier that seems impossible to break through. It’s a mental test as much as a physical one. Thanks you for watching, we really appreciate it 😊

      We take a GoPro10 and a GoPro11 with us. To be totally honest I can’t see much between the two. Cheryl uses the 10 and me the 11. If I’m pushed to say maybe the colours are slightly better with the 11 but I could be imagining it!!

    Great video, amazing effort 🎉. Do you have any recommendations for head torches and running poles. Do you think the poles offer much assistance? Thanks

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much. We’ve used a few different torches but our go-to for mountains and long races is a Fenix HM65R-T, it’s a great torch. Poles, definitely Leki. They can offer assistance on difficult climbs and can also act as a stabiliser on tricky downhill sections. For us, they’re a must when we’re intending to cover a vast amount of ascent.

  • @mdarts8861

    Sometimes these races knock the stuffing out of you. It all seems better after a rest, and you start to think what all the fuss was about. You both did great and will be back stronger. You don’t learn much from easy runs.

    • @TrailRunningCouple
      @TrailRunningCouple  ปีที่แล้ว

      We couldn’t agree more. Whilst we’re both still in bits we’re looking back at the race and remembering the good bits. It was a great day out and a real mental and physical test which we just about passed.
