  • This is the first Blackberry I've used in YEARS, and while I was a big fan of their messaging services, the smartphone arena has become very competitive with some fantastic camera options. Let's see how Blackberry's mid-range, throw-back design Classic performs in our real-world video benchmarks!

    Moin!
Just a small question. Did you also test the bb classics camera in video mode with the stabilization in it's settings turned off?
I've just been in a Telekom store cauz I'm interested in this device and tried the video function with the stabilization off and it seemed to have much less shutter issues (that awesome whobble-shaking, lol) as you mentioned them while you tested it walking down a street in your video. :3
Just curious if you tested that as well.

Wow, thanks for the review. I really hope on the near future you can do a BlackBerry Passport camera review. I have the AT&T version(its an amazing design) and I love it. I want to know how the camera stacks up in your review; as it is my opinion, that your reviews are the best on TH-cam. Than you.

Thanks for that. I really want to check out what a premier BB feels like now that I've used the Classic.

Haha. Man, Juan. Leave it to you to make an awesome camera review video out of something like the Classic. I'd really like to see how you feel about the Passport.

LOL! It has a camera on it! I feel it deserves just as much attention and respect as any other phone I've reviewed :-D
BUT DAMN I wanna play with a Passport after using this.

Surprising video, as this phone is one of the last I'd expect to be worth a camera mention, haha. BlackBerry has always been weird about camera sensors. The flagship Bold 9900 had _the worst_ fixed-focus sensor since the 8000 series, yet the numerically entry-level Pearl 9100 had a pretty decent auto-focus unit. Wacky, man, wacky...
How are still images? I've been enamored with this phone since the rumors last year, and despite the camera and "low specs" I'm still interested. While it would be cool if the camera was at least decent for still images, I'll always have a good Lumia hanging around somewhere haha.

It's just OK. Kinda cool it'll autocrop to match the square screen and IG if that's where you post, or if you want the wide screen it'll letterbox, but the camera on this thing isn't great. I'm really enjoying the hardware keyboard, and the refinements to BBOS10, but this is NOT a content creation device.

I mostly tweet weird jokes for weird folks, so that's mostly alright in my book. Otherwise the improvements of BBOS over the last year and finally this chunk of hardware have made it impossible to resist at least trying it. Now to find a decently priced used one, haha. Thanks for the attention given to this phone, even if it isn't that stellar of a device. :)

illitero I'm really excited about entry-level and mid-range phones right now. The performance deficit between high end and the middle is shrinking...

+MUHAMMAD AZAAN I really liked this little phone. Thought it was a good mid-ranger. Just bummed BB doesn't have more software for the platform.

I hope it helps them, but I worry they'll become just another android manufacturer.
