  • Adjustable wrench restoration. Super rusty old wrench that was left outside for at least 2 years, and presumed lost. I found it again whilst clearing some weeds! It isnt that old although it looked vintage with the rust! I decided to clean it up so i can use it again! not restored, more of a remake. Fix it restore it!

    I'm surprised you didn't take it completely apart to remove all the rust, but it came out really good. Still, just a warning, there's rust under the rubber and it'll eventually weaken the metal.
    EDIT: That said, I subscribed, keep it coming!

    I agree with one of your posters that there is probably rust underneath the rubber. Removing it might be prudent. You can re-do it with plasti-dip or similar when it's done, or Crescent company may have replacement grips for sale. Also the knurled piece is held on by a screw you can access in the bottom hole usually. It makes it easier to clean when you dismantle the tool completely. Great video, thanks for sharing

    Jesus mate how do you stay inspired to do these videos with so many armchair experts telling you what you did wrong like it was some kind of rare one off tool. They seem to forget that 5 minutes ago those same experts would have been saying it’s to far gone chuck it in the bin.
    I like your videos and while I might do it a different way I don’t feel I have the right to criticise what you do when I don’t have my own channel.
    It’s obvious you’re young but with the tools, skills and patience you have already your well on your way. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

    Why didnt you put oil on all the threads instead of just the ends? The threads turn, and rub against the movable jaw which opens and closes the wrench. Also, oil down inside the jaw would have been a good idea too. Just put oil on the entire thing and take it apart. A hammer does more damage than it helps.

      ok, thank you for your input

    • @shedmanx3640
      @shedmanx3640 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kerry Clark it was evident in the video that the jaws were not binding, they were loose therefore the adjustable thread was seized. Some light taps with a hammer sometimes free up seizing. Heat may have been a better option but if like me, I don’t have a heat gun or oxy set, you work with what you’ve got.
      Good resto work to a usable tool again. I like that the patina was not completely lost.

    What would be nice is if you let the viewer know what stuff you are using in the various steps? If you don't want to talk in your video that is fine, but at least put what chemicals, products, etc. you are using on the screen. Otherwise, it's purely a video about showing how you cleaned up a wrench, but no use to anyone trying to do the same.
