@@cassandra2968 Traditional in values, morals, ethics, and religion. Conservative women have never 'not worked', quite the contrary. They don't generally work jobs out in general public, earning the bread that goes on the table, but their day generally starts earlier and ends later than anyone else in the house. My mom has worked here for around 10 years. She loves it. Love stopping in whenever I come visit. Every time I do it seems like they have expanded or added something new. They are doing a great job.

I'm so glad that this family Mennonite Country Store is going to go on nice and strong for another generation! It doesn't get any better than generationally family ran businesses! Thank you so much for the treat! My daughter and I really enjoyed this! Love the Mennonites!
Oh my goodness... the 80 year old grandfather is so awesome! He had so much to say! I love hearing older people's stories... especially those who are successful but humble. Something really really special about that.
Erma's economy of movement is fantastic to watch. Much respect to her, she is a true professional, and clearly the backbone of the prepared foods operations. She is pure gold.
I did a lot of work in Amish and Mennonite communities when I was younger. Always thought their lifestyle looked unbearable. Now as I get older it make more sense and is starting to look attractive. Huge admiration to them for holding onto their ways and beliefs in a country where that's not so easy to do.
Friendly smiles, hard working ladies. I love watching about the Amish and Mennonite's but being keto I couldn't eat most of what they make as it is unhealthy still with all the carbs and sugar.
Wonderful people sure. But I prefer the more individuality of humans. I wouldn't want everyone alike, how boring. Nothing against these people, I just prefer more diversity. Why grow one type of flower when you can grow 5 different kinds? Variety is best. Groups mixed in amongst others is fine. They all work together. That's just my opinion. Yup,and you didn't ask for it,well you got it anyway lol.
Mrs. Raber reminds me of my great granny. We were not Mennonite but what is often called “holiness” or southern Assembly of God which is similar in traditions. Women did not wear pants, cut their hair, wear makeup and were proud homemakers & mothers who were valued for their talents in sewing, cooking, canning/gardening, natural remedies etc… I remember standing in a chair to reach the stove & top shelves when cooking. It was a blessing! My skills & work are STILL highly valued by my family. My husband thanks me daily for being such a “good wife” and I owe most of it to my early childhood 🙌🏼❤🙂 If we ever travel up that way, we will surely drop by for some great food & friendly smiles.
Mennonites know their way around a kitchen, had the pleasure of spending some time with a family and members of the community out in Saskatchewan 20+ years ago. Best donuts I've ever had.
My best friend died suddenly 5 years ago this month. I have friends at church, but not like her. We made donuts for fashnact day every February, helped each other with sweet corn every summer, and baked cookies every Christmas time. Our families would get together to play games on Sunday evenings. But since her children all got married and she died, I am just having a hard time finding someone to really open up to like we did with each other. I am praying that soon I find someone. This has been a tough year as my mother-in-law passed away and 2 weeks later my sister died in PA (where I was originally from). Pray for me that I can soon find that circle of friends that I can open up to. Thanks for your words of encouragement.
Give all your cares to Jesus and he will answer you. I hope you soon find a friend to relate to. I'm sorry you lost your friend...sounds like she was a wonderful person. Prayers for you are being said.
This is why I have so much respect for the Amish as well as the Mininites. Good hard working and clean people who puts a lot of pride in everything they seem to do
I live in MO., Amish and Mennonite central. They have communities all over the state, and they all have their country stores. They're just like this store, clean, full of natural, homemade, and locally made products, unusual things that you're not going to find anywhere else. And they're the sweetest people you're ever gonna meet. It's always a treat whenever I'm able to visit them. In fact my daughter and I actual do an Amish store run, where we stop at every Amish store in the community, because they all have different wonderful things to offer. I love the Amish and Mennonites.
I live in Lancaster, PA. and have access to many fine Mennonite grocery and general stores. It’s a blessing to the customers as well as the proprietors. Many also offer all kinds of incentives (punch cards, etc) to incentivize customers to keep coming. Being able to buy a wide variety of staples in bulk is also great 👍🏻. Always closed on Sunday 👍🏻
My grandmother's family were Mennonite and my 6th Great Grandfather is on the 1729 petition to form Lancaster County. I would love to find a recipe for my grandma's chicken and noodles (homemade noodles) we always had every supper as a side dish.
I love the mennonite and amish communities. Strong family. Strong faith. Strong work ethic. We need more of that! Born and raised in PA in the heart of PA Dutch country. Moved to TN a few years ago, and gosh I sure miss the dutch food!!

My wife and I live across the river from Lancaster County and a precious few times venture there and stop at an Amish or Mennonite food establishment and always are happy we did so, they're GOOD PEOPLE and the World could use a lot more of them.
I visited a friend many years back in Pennsylvania. And seen them on there buggy & had some chocolate fudge. This just wonderful to see a success story. It's harder for ppl. To keep these charming food stores open. Thx. For posting.

I grew up in a Catholic family in NYC. Part of the time we lived in the country. During that time, we had Mennonite neighbors. The most friendlies people in the world. Always inviting and kind. I recall a few meals we shared together when they would do community events. ♥
It's so refreshing to hear Grandpa say, "I told him to get whatever he needs to get himself set up with computers". That's awesome, and so open minded! I'm from Mennonite country in PA and they are terrific business men and women.
We visit this store on a regular basis. The people are wonderful, the baked goods are delicious, and the sandwiches are great. Thank you for showcasing this amazing store. All the workers deserve the praise. You missed the best part… the Whoopie Pies. Try those the next time. Lol

Hi, viewer from Ireland here. This is one of the most interesting and enjoyable pieces I've seen on TH-cam in quite some time. Thank you to the participants and the interviewer. Oh yeah, the lady that does all the baking, Irma you're a treasure.
So true. I almost envy them for that. City people are so spoiled, have everything we need at our fingertips, and yet we're a bunch of stressed out basketcases.
I'm a Virginian, and I go to our local Mennonite store every month or so! I love getting cold cuts and cheeses as well as my spices there. And the occasional cake/pie 😉
I can’t believe this was nearly 45 minutes long! The time passed in a flash, as your video kept my attention; You anticipated what would surprise me next! My lower jaw ached because it was open in astonishment for most of the film. I am so hungry right now! Many thanks to the store owner, every worker, and you and your son for producing this film!

We have a smaller version of this in our little town and everyone loves it. It’s always spotless and they have really quality goods available. We not only love the store, we especially love the mennonite people who live in our town. They have been nothing but a positive in our town.
Anything from the store would be a gift. You meet such friendly hardworking people on your travels. Good food great conversations good will spreading the joy. 😊
We just moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to northern Ohio. It seems like the entire East Coast is now our front yard. Hoping to make it down to Rose Hill, Virginia after seeing this great video! Thank you for making this and posting it!
I only wish that we had a store like this where I live bc I would buy all of my groceries from them. I appreciate how well kept their stores are. Their attention to quality products is almost unheard of in the big box stores. There are a couple that pay attention to quality and appearance of the products but not many. I do place online orders from Walnut Creek but there is only so much that they can ship. But man, everything I buy is truly great products. Thanks for making this video. I sure could go for one of those chicken salad sandwiches on sour dough bread right now!
This store is much like the Corner Stone Market (we call Amish store), that we visit each week. Although there is no bakery in the store here, they sell homemade breads & desserts. The sandwich list and packaging, as well as set up, is very much like the store here. We enjoy the nice variety of foods we find there. Dutch Valley Foods is the same company that provides much of the same items in our local store. We have become good friends with the family members that all work there. Thank you for sharing 🕊
Wow, what a fantastic shop asnd bakery. We have a Mennonite store near us here in Waterford Ireland and they bake too and make furniture, great quality. Thanks for posting this video and God bless everyone.
We have one here in NC outside of Jacksonville. Everybody loves this store! The chocolate milk is like it was back in the day when I was a kid, nice and thick and delicious! The sandwiches are incredible and you have to get there early or call ahead because the place gets swamped!
I use to manage a deli in a grocery store. It's so nice to see people working and not have to be told. An Irma wow!! She is one busy lady . It would really hurt the business if she we're to get sick. I wish there was a store like this in the state I live it.

I work in the store and I am in the video, on that note... Erma did get sick once and she does take a vacation from time to time, to be honest we are lost without her and it never feels the same without her presence in the bakery everyday!
Thanks John for making me hungry at 2 o'clock in the morning, 900 miles away from this gem of a bakery!!!! Lol. I must go to your beautiful state and visit the places you highlight on your excellent videos!! Thank you John for your informative videos.

Sounds great!
I live in Australia , so wish we had stores like this here . The food looks wonderful and the shop is very well organised 👏🏻👏🏻
this made me so happy while watching, i wish i had a place like that nearby in my country. Much love from Denmark.
Wow! Everything looked clean and organized. Thanks for showcasing the store.
Thanks for watching and your comment
My wife and I frequent a local Amish store here in Winston Salem NC. We love it all!
www.thedutchtreat.biz/
Love the sandwiches here...and cakes! Always super nice people and the prices are still really good for the quality.
Yes they are!
My wife and I live across the river from Lancaster County and a precious few times venture there and stop at an Amish or Mennonite food establishment and always are happy we did so, they're GOOD PEOPLE and the World could use a lot more of them.
Yeah
I visited a friend many years back in Pennsylvania. And seen them on there buggy & had some chocolate fudge. This just wonderful to see a success story. It's harder for ppl. To keep these charming food stores open. Thx. For posting.
I like the sign on the counter top “This kitchen is seasoned with love” ❤❤ very nice video with very nice people.😊😊
Thanks for not hiding Sally Sexton's information!
What lovely wonderful family people. Coming together and having such a beautiful Dutch Treat store. I love it.

I grew up in a Catholic family in NYC. Part of the time we lived in the country. During that time, we had Mennonite neighbors. The most friendlies people in the world. Always inviting and kind. I recall a few meals we shared together when they would do community events. ♥
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching
They work hard and clean and the grampa is just adorable bless him
It's so refreshing to hear Grandpa say, "I told him to get whatever he needs to get himself set up with computers". That's awesome, and so open minded! I'm from Mennonite country in PA and they are terrific business men and women.
yes they are!
I wish I lived in the US close to this shop, I'd be a regular there for sure! Love what these good people do and produce for the community!
I'm sure you can find others, I know we have similar stores, the amish & I love them & their donuts
We visit this store on a regular basis. The people are wonderful, the baked goods are delicious, and the sandwiches are great. Thank you for showcasing this amazing store. All the workers deserve the praise. You missed the best part… the Whoopie Pies. Try those the next time. Lol

Do you have store here in wa?
Hi, viewer from Ireland here. This is one of the most interesting and enjoyable pieces I've seen on TH-cam in quite some time. Thank you to the participants and the interviewer. Oh yeah, the lady that does all the baking, Irma you're a treasure.
Thanks for watching
What a breath of Fresh Air. Thank you for continuing your traditions. Impeccable. Watching from New Zealand
Thanks for watching!
Cheers from another Kiwi
God blessed these folks.....thank you 🙏
Thanks for watching
Such a wonderful store.....I believe the Mennonite / Amish are as about to perfection for living day to day. Respect, roles, joy, God.
Thanks for watching and your comment
Now that's a one stop shop!
yes it sure is
It's nice for them to be able to live and thrive in such freedom and safety.
Yes it is
So true. I almost envy them for that. City people are so spoiled, have everything we need at our fingertips, and yet we're a bunch of stressed out basketcases.
We need to learn and start living like them. The government is going to be controlling us and we'll have nothing!.
Freedom...
The irony is dead.
I'm a Virginian, and I go to our local Mennonite store every month or so! I love getting cold cuts and cheeses as well as my spices there. And the occasional cake/pie 😉
My mouth was watering the whole video would love to have a store like that in my area. Good video Thanks
You’re welcome and God Bless you
I can’t believe this was nearly 45 minutes long! The time passed in a flash, as your video kept my attention; You anticipated what would surprise me next! My lower jaw ached because it was open in astonishment for most of the film. I am so hungry right now! Many thanks to the store owner, every worker, and you and your son for producing this film!
Im glad to hear you like the video. Thanks for the comment and watching my videos! John Ward
❤
We have a store just like this in my hometown. It's a killer walking in there when they pull the bakery from the oven. It's absolutely wonderful.
Smells amazing too here is their website! www.thedutchtreat.biz/
wow john love your channel, you show all the things that people look for every day,and so very unique and different, reminds of the antique road show, with a different spin!

You can tell those woman are there to make it happen. Everyone is working on MAX efficiency. Awesome video.
Not Ewing but Rose Hill, Va. I stop every time I go home.
Thanks for watching! Here is the Website to visit or place an order! www.thedutchtreat.biz/
If you're in northern Ohio you should visit Holmes County.
Very nice place! Wish we had a place like that down here! They have a little bit of everything!!
Yes they do
The amount of different things they produce speaks wonders about the amount of skills they have.
Thanks for your comment
I only wish that we had a store like this where I live bc I would buy all of my groceries from them. I appreciate how well kept their stores are. Their attention to quality products is almost unheard of in the big box stores. There are a couple that pay attention to quality and appearance of the products but not many. I do place online orders from Walnut Creek but there is only so much that they can ship. But man, everything I buy is truly great products. Thanks for making this video. I sure could go for one of those chicken salad sandwiches on sour dough bread right now!
I feel the same
It's nice to see normal hard working God fearing people on a video for a change God bless them all. We need more people like this in this crazy world
This store is much like the Corner Stone Market (we call Amish store), that we visit each week.

@@theappalachianchannel Thanks for the link, too bad that store is so far away. It looks like a store I could spend plenty of time in 🙂
you're welcome
Nice and well run Mennonite store. When I lived in Pennsylvania we had a Hornings bulk food store like this store.
Wow, what a fantastic shop asnd bakery. We have a Mennonite store near us here in Waterford Ireland and they bake too and make furniture, great quality. Thanks for posting this video and God bless everyone.
Hello from Ireland thanks for watching our channel
Really good video. Good people and good food products. Thank you for showing us around this amazing store !!!
Thanks for watching
We gots us a Dutch Store, so there. Seriously, this store is fabulous!

We have one here in NC outside of Jacksonville. Everybody loves this store! The chocolate milk is like it was back in the day when I was a kid, nice and thick and delicious! The sandwiches are incredible and you have to get there early or call ahead because the place gets swamped!
What’s the name of it and location? Someone mention it to my husband but we have found it😢
Cool
I love how you show us all these hidden gems in Appalachia. Thank you for sharing & God bless you in your travels.
Absolutely enjoyed watching!! That’s a store that supplies food for your heart and soul ❤️
Thanks for watching and your comment
I use to manage a deli in a grocery store. It's so nice to see people working and not have to be told. An Irma wow!! She is one busy lady . It would really hurt the business if she we're to get sick. I wish there was a store like this in the state I live it.

I work in the store and I am in the video, on that note... Erma did get sick once and she does take a vacation from time to time, to be honest we are lost without her and it never feels the same without her presence in the bakery everyday!
We are sorry to hear that Emma was sick. Praying for her
Wow so much canned and pickled stuff aswell and it all looks soooo high quality
Thanks John for making me hungry at 2 o'clock in the morning, 900 miles away from this gem of a bakery!!!! Lol. I must go to your beautiful state and visit the places you highlight on your excellent videos!! Thank you John for your informative videos.
You’re welcome
Love this ty John.. love all your Wonderful Videos!!
You’re welcome thank you for watching our channel. We appreciate it very much and God Bless
That's a long way from where I lived in Virginia, I was up in Page County in the Shenandoah Valley. I think Ewin is close to 400 miles.
I'm from Québec Canada and it's a pleasure watching the love and pride that goes into the small details of this business. Keep up the amazing work and keep it unique!
