I've been trained by hubby to be a meat and potatoes gal, but my son's girlfriend is staying with us, and she made some wonderful vegetarian dishes tonight. I want to start making and eating more with veggies. I want to try this.
Very delighted to see that you guts also do veggie stuff too. Being a vegetarian myself I find it difficult to see chefs doing something different than the traditional meat dishes. Well done once again boys. I'll definitely try this version of your stuffed veggie peppers.
Most of the Vegetarian stuffed peppers I tried ( from Indian recipes) had potatoes...I would love to substitute them for rice as you showed. Also, it is easy for me to try this because I cook plain white rice in pressure cooker daily for our lunches and dinners, along with daals (lentils stew/soup).
I am not even kidding yesterday I was craving stuffed peppers and I wondered if this channel had any recipes for it and today you post one. Mind readers!
I love how versatile this recipe is, you can replace the white rice w/ Mexican rice, quinoa, or whatever you like. Same for the veggies. & It's not a pain to make at all, thanks guys!
I love stuffed bell pepper, and these look so delicious. I am a new Sorted Food subscriber, subscribed this year, so catching up on your older videos. You guys are so much much to watch, and the recipes are awesome.
The recipe looked delicious, however I don't think I could ever eat rice that you had to drain the water off of first. Properly cooked rice has no leftover, extra water in it & it is completely fluffy with individual grains of rice. My mom is from Panamá & we have a special pot called a pila, we add some oil to the pot, 2 cups of rice & we toast the rice (you can add garlic & onion)than about 3 cups of liquid (water, coconut milk or stock) & cook for 15-20 minutes. It's perfect specially when concho forms on the side of the pila.
In their creamy venison curry recipe, they made "cauliflower rice." Put some cauliflower in a bender to blitz up and add some seasoning. Try looking that recipe up.
In Italy this recipe is actually really old, and it's made with minced beef instead of the Basmati rice and with whatever stuffing you want to add to it BUT with the entire bellpepper with the inside carved out.
Sure! I live in a region of Louisiana called Acadiana. Most of my ancestors are french people who were exiled from Nova Scotia in the early 1700s. A lot of us here are of this cajun ancestry. We have our own dialect of french, cuisine and customs which are different from what most people associate with Americans. We also have a pretty badass accent (ever seen swamp people) lol. Where are you from?
It's not so much a vegetarian favourite, it's just that it's normally one of the only veggie options on menus alongside some form of cheese tart and something else involving cheese and mushrooms.
The turmeric won't be cooked and onions will have the crunch if you follow this method. I would recommend cooking those ingredients pre-stuffing or let the stuffed mixture bake directly in the oven with papers (without heating peppers separately)
Awsome recipe!! :D In Slovenia we have a holiday on the 11th of November called Martin's day. On that day we usually eat rosted duck, red cabbage and a side dishe called "mlinci" (it's lika a flat bread cooked in wather or soup). Could you do an interesting recipe using duck and cabbage?
Growing up, we took the tops off peppers (along with the seeds), then stuffed almost the whole pepper. Cutting them vertically seems just wrong. I'd be okay with leaving out the hamburger mom always put in, but I'll skip the cheese and put tomato sauce (NOT ketchup) on top. Mom removed the stem and seeds from the top, put the top back onto the pepper, trying to be fancy but failing. I'm not sure why she wanted to be fancy, and now it's too late to ask. Would eggplant (aubergine) work for a meatier filling? Or mushroom? I might have to test those ideas, though I think the eggplant would have to be roasted first?
real nice guys, will be giving this on a try. would like to see more vegetarian comfort food as we go into winter, mabye some slow roasted auergine or veg stew?
Cooked it for my bf. I got really nervous because it tasted absolutely bitter before I baked it, but after it baked it was amazing, it had this awesome Mediterranean taste to it.
It looked soo yummy! I'm sure the bell pepper boats are stuffed with awesome flavours. Any suggestions to tweak the recipe so I can cook them in microwave or on stove?
Boil the peppers instead of bake and make a cheese sauce to go on top. Also, after boiling a little, add the peppers to a pan and char them a little :)

+Jordan Wyatt Thank you Jordan :) I'll definitely try out your method. maybe I should also cook the veggies a little before adding the rice in? just imagining the roasted bell peppers with cheese is making my mouth water!
gave this recipe a try yesterday... and the dish was absolutely awesome... Thanks thanks thanks a lot Sorted Food...... looking forwards to other vegetarian dishes :D thumb up
I am cajun so I put cajun spice and tabasco on everything! I also love mediterranean food. I'm going to try to make this (I can't cook lol). I'd love to see you try your hand at a poboy or gumbo or something by the way :D
I've made stuffed peppers with sausage meat before and it was delicious. Just take the sausages out of their casing and mush them/mix them in with everything.
Please make a raspberry ganache tart/pie. I can't find a good, simple recipie for it! Im not very good at just following written recipies, the videos help alot:)
normally you are supposed to cover rice in order to cook it. is that not necessary since you are finishing it in the oven or does basmati rice not require it?
I recently made this dish and all the flavors were great. The only issue I had was the fact that it felt dry. I didn't put as much cheese, but regardless it needed some sort of sauce with in the rice mixture. Other than that it was a good recipe.
I'm making this recipe for the family! If I'm doubling all the ingredients (meaning, using 4 peppers) around how much of each spice would you recommend I use? Thank you, your help is appreciated!! :)
recently went pescatarian but reaaaally wanted me some stuffed peppers. thank GOD this exists! my dad always would put bacon in it and brisket and never truly thought me :,( -wren
When you were on young apprentice did you do it in between a video because in the background i could tell you were cooking things was i in between this oe it looked like it
I would like to make this but i dont like the blushed tomato's and olives, are there any substitutes for that? or any other ingredients that would fit in perfectly with this dish?
This looks so delicious! I always have to wait until my rice kind of cools down because otherwise it just falls apart once I start to mix it. I wonder why...
I think this would be a great recipe to try for him (obviously without the mozzarella, unless you can find a vegan alternative, and I would personally add lentils to it to include some protein) :)
I recently just became a vegetarian, and I'm now very excited to try this!!
Romy Austin, make sure your cheese is made with vegetable rennet. Most mozzarella is, at least in the US.

of course!

Sun blushed tomatoes... Have a look for them in the supermarket, they're delicious!
Yes to both of those suggestions... would be great
Stuffed peppers usually have rice, but you can use mushrooms or whatever you like in them really!
About 10 mins. The full recipe can be found on our website (see the link below the video).

Yep, Field or Portobello mushroom should be good!
Some beef mince wouldn't go amiss?
Have a look at our Jambalaya... It's similar to a gumbo, but not quite the same ;-)
I am not even kidding yesterday I was craving stuffed peppers and I wondered if this channel had any recipes for it and today you post one. Mind readers!
Personally... Love Goats cheese - so the answer is yes. But basically, use whatever cheese you prefer or have in your fridge.
Vegetarian food recipes make me very happy. Thanks for keeping people like me in mind, guys. This is something I am definitely trying out.
I love how versatile this recipe is, you can replace the white rice w/ Mexican rice, quinoa, or whatever you like. Same for the veggies. & It's not a pain to make at all, thanks guys!
Great idea!
All the recipes are in the link in the description box :-)
dried tomatoes are super delicious, very good recipe!
You can use any type you like... I think we used Buffalo
Looks good! And if you leave out the cheese and substitute quinoa for the rice, you can have a vegan version with lots of protein!

Really love that you guys are upping the amount of vegetarian dishes on the channel. Thanks!!

Pretty much any vegetable you like really!
It's nice that you give and alternative to vegans for stuffed peppers
You can leave them out or just replace with any veg you fancy!
They look incredible. I may switch out the basmati for quinoa...or even wheat berries even though they take ages to cook. Awesome.
In their creamy venison curry recipe, they made "cauliflower rice." Put some cauliflower in a bender to blitz up and add some seasoning. Try looking that recipe up.
I’ve always had and seen stuffed peppers and cabbage with added ground sausage. This looks tasty.
Just made this today and its a hit!!! Thanks for sharing!!! I will defenitly be making this again!!!
Shows you how good it was... We couldn't wait!!
What about quinoa?!
In Italy this recipe is actually really old, and it's made with minced beef instead of the Basmati rice and with whatever stuffing you want to add to it BUT with the entire bellpepper with the inside carved out.
this is also really good if you just slice the top off and fill it up like a little cup.. it makes awesome presentation to serve too!
It's a bit like cous cous?! You can use cous cous if you prefer it to rice!

I love stuffed peppers! I'll have to try this version. :) Do you have any suggestions for different spices? I don't like turmeric. Thanks!
nice to see that youtubers actually listen to their subscribers.

I just baked 3 halves for my family dinner. Compliments all around and they enjoyed the fact that it was healthy too! *recipe saved*
This looks soooo good. I don't really like peppers, but I'll have to give this a go
I made this recipe last night but added a more italian twist and it was delicious!
You're in luck! If you do a search for 'vegetarian burger' on our site you'll find it!
That looks so..tasty..! I swear, I can smell it through my computer.
This looks amazing ! In a video i watched earlier tonight, you washed the rice first to get rid of... Starch ? How come you didnt do it this time ?

great recipe; my boyfriend and i make stuff peppers with stuffing mix inside and pepper jack cheese. WE bake everything in the oven together.

normally you are supposed to cover rice in order to cook it. is that not necessary since you are finishing it in the oven or does basmati rice not require it?

Hey can you char the peppers before hand and then stuff them and put it in the oven? Or will they come out too mushy ?
Thank you guys sooo much for always doing vegetarian recipes! That's nice to keep us in mind! ^_^

When you were on young apprentice did you do it in between a video because in the background i could tell you were cooking things was i in between this oe it looked like it
congrats on young apprentice! you're moving up in the world! bbc should give you a show!
Hmmm... Maybe keep an eye out tomorrow ;-)
Sun Blushed? is that the same as sun dried tomatoes? i know the UK names things differently sometimes.
Actually learnt something similar at college the other day :> It was super nice.
just made this - so good - thanx - i just love your videos they are so fun and addictive lol :) thanx!!! x x x
I'm getting ready to make this... so excited!
If you wanted to make this a vegan dish, what would you top it off with instead of the cheese at the end?
I would recommend using brown rice. It's healthier! And for vegans there are cheese substitues which are delicious!
I would like to make this but i dont like the blushed tomato's and olives, are there any substitutes for that? or any other ingredients that would fit in perfectly with this dish?
This looks so delicious! I always have to wait until my rice kind of cools down because otherwise it just falls apart once I start to mix it. I wonder why...
looks delicious and easy. THANKS guys!
This is just perfection! Apart from olives. Olives are satin's grapes.
Nobody warned me Ben was going to be on the Apprentice, got a little bit too excited!
Making the peppers tomorrow night for my house mates :)
I think this would be a great recipe to try for him (obviously without the mozzarella, unless you can find a vegan alternative, and I would personally add lentils to it to include some protein) :)
