Can confirm. Playing on a Ryzen 7 5700G (weird CPU choice Ik) and RX 6600. Base game runs great at 1080p max but no matter what some sections, attacks, etc. in the DLC can drop my FPS as low as 30
This is like the opposite of Sim City 2000. The minimum specs said I needed a 68020 running at 14mHz and 4MB of RAM, my A1200 had a 68030 clocked at 25mHz, a 68882 math co-processor and 6MB of RAM and it run at an absolute crawl. I mean, awesome game and just on the edge of playable on my machine, I couldn't imagine the poor git who bought the game whilst just meeting requirements, definitely would've been an unplayable mess.

While Elden Ring isn’t my gaming genre with these “Souls” like titles….. but the gaming and art style has its appeal and it’s great to see a nice looking game like this being able to run on lower end hardware 🥰💪😇👍
Played this game for the first time this year. I have mostly played more casual games like gta, red dead, assassins creed etc. So I cautiously gave a try to elden ring. I won't lie, this might be one of, if not the best game I've ever played. To think this is the first open world this company created and it is already miles better than any slop from Ubisoft in the last decade and probably even the future. I think the only thing it lacked was how the quests are structured, with npc's teleporting from one place to another to advance the quests, and many times those npc's being found in later game areas, resulting in me forgetting that I was supposed to meet with that npc in that area. Everything else is simply fantastic, and that's coming from someone who had never played or was interested in souls like games.
I too am a casual kind of gamer and sometimes I do wish to delve into it but I'm scared because of the difficulty. I've heard these souls games are tough and require meticulous planning and learning which, to me seems like a task rather than enjoying a game. I've played RE4, The Arkham games, and mostly linear sort of games which do not require a lot of effort. I wish to enjoy and not be tensed and worried. So do you think I should try it?
@@gabadu529 I think you should give it a try. There is a learning curve to these games but once you are over that you can definitely finish it and maybe even beat the optional hardest boss fights in the game. Grab it on sale and if you really like it buy the DLC later.

It depends on the area, the game seems to be largely single core CPU-bound so unless you have a fairly new processor expect drops around the Furnace Golems or in areas with a lot of projectiles or particles. I'm using a 10400F and it drops into the low 30s at worst.
Nice video. I'm glad this game doesn't take a set of kidneys and half of a liver to run well. I played through Elden Ring the first time on a GTX 1060 3gb, but with a i7 2600 and 8gb of 1333. It was a bit more rough than this, but I was mostly in the 30-40 fps range. More than I can say for Starfield; even with a huge PC upgrade, I had worse results. For a game that looks nowhere near as good as Elden Ring does, it's pretty inexcusable.

@@ogrejd With ad blocking software and browsers like brave why pay at all? There are a ton of free streaming sites that use ads and once those are blocked its just like having netflix. Even nukes all youtube ads including making the free movies ad free.
Some DLC area, like in front of Castle Ensis, so far, is where it gets very demanding for system around or below minimum specs... My i5 8400 (minimum spec) drops to 50fps in that area, even after removing gpu bottleneck (turning down all settings to low and resolution to 720p) I just streamed some gameplay footage (with afterburner stats) in my channel
completed elden ring several times on a ryzen 5500u laptop igpu and even in the new dlc area its definitely still ok. Pretty forgiving considering how excellent "low" settings looks in this game compared to other games
Suggestion: I'm sure you heard of Lossless Scaling, you should try to see how low down in system power and specs you can go while still being able to enjoy modern games at 60 FPS.
Talking about weird ideas, i got one. I know you have gt 1030 gddr5. How about pairing it with a modern fast ddr5 system like ryzen 7000 or intel 12th gen? Trying gaming with games that requires more than 2gb vram that comes with 1030 and see if there's any performance hit compared to when playing it with games under 2gb vram requirement.
I think they optimized things quite a bit. When I played it for the first time, my fps were a bit all over the place and now it's much better. gtx1080+32gb
@@ProjectFraz tbh it adds a lot to foliage, without RT it just looks bland and last geny. Some interiors also get a nice boost in fidelity and with the DLSS mod you can get 60fps too depending on hardrware…but all that only applies to the base game. DLC I disabled it completely. It is a mess.
If you're having trouble with this game it's because you are heavy rolling. Heavy rolling is terrible, makes dodging attacks super hard. Remove some armor or use lighter armor.
Its even better performance if you launch the game without EAC :) You lose access to online features, but it can really bump up the fps by quite a bit, and make the game much, MUCH smoother, especially now after the DLC. :)
reminds me the 8700,K,or F stil is an awesome cpu for budget gaming even in 2024 handling upto the 6700xt or 3060ti without leaving much performance if any on the table
Not bad from the looks of it. I would personally go with Medium or High for sub 60 (but more than 30) given that this game has a 60FPS cap, so not really worth trying to aim for 60+ especially on the minimum system requirements. As for other games' minimum system requirements - some others are also pretty accurate, as my laptop has a 1050Ti, and in both F1 2023 and F1 2022 (games I used to play a lot on the laptop) I got a +30fps experience at 1080p high, albeit with some noticeable dips from time to time. Low would have probably netted slightly more, but would have turned the overheating i7-8750H into the limiting factor (by putting more onto a CPU with inadequate cooling from the factory) and the game would have looked worse.
Yeah the new dlc can suddenly become quite hard to run. i was going along at like a 55+ fps at max settings and max ray tracing with my 7900gre and suddenly I’m in the cinema fitting a dude with 24😂 I lowered the Ray tracing preset after that one, jeez

all new games are released as BETAs for paying users to test and bug report for years before the game gets finished as there is practically zero game testing by qualified employees any more. it's like new model auto manufacturer series changes, wait 5 years before buying due to the life ending and machine self terminating manufacturers defects get resolved.

I played this game on an i3-7100 (dual core!), it hovered around 30-50 fps with very bad frametimes 😅 such a shame given DS3 runs on the same engine and is pretty optimised

Elden ring has frame pacing issues on pc and Ray tracing exacerbates it. My rig has a ryzen 9 and a 4070 and it says 60 the whole time I play but it doesn't really LOOK like it
Yeah, I have a DDR3 system with 12GB 4/2/4/2GB it works flawlessly in dual channel. You can also put 3x4 or 8+4, but that will make only some parts of the memory running in dual channel if the motherboard can figure it out at all which is very bad. Overall if you can find 2 extra sticks for free it's totally worth it.
Sure, or even 2X4 and 1X4, depending on the board. Intel Flex memory mode will run as much of the ram in dual channel mode as it can, in this case, 8 of the 12 gigs will run in DC mode.
yes with four ram slots, 8+4+8+4, tho keep in mind most computers don't see that as 'dual channel' and will run a little bit slower compared to 8gb or 16gb, the only 12GB that is really running at FULL SPEED is on a workstation with 6 RAM Slots, but four ram slots theres only a few combinations that are dual channel: 8,16,32,64,128

Elden Ring was probably the last new release I will ever buy. I'm happy to wait until they are available for what they are actually worth - about $30 for a 'good' game. Elden Ring has goofy cpu usage. It doesn't like HT and older gen CPU's. My old 4790k doesn't get properly used in game because the game engine seems to mismanage threads and not fully utilize the real cores. The game never maxed out the CPU and performance suffered (stutter). I'd even disable HT and overclock the 4790k and the game engine still failed to properly utilize the CPU. Why the game engine hated older CPUs makes no sense. Maybe the older ram speeds? Benchmarking sites showed the game scales well up to 6 physical cores but HT was giving weird performance results but it seems to go beyond just HT. So an i5 8400 is actually a good CPU for Elden Ring. No HT and 6 physical cores (newer cpu). The game also seems to like the huge bus bandwidth of the VEGA cards. From my experience the VEGA 56 and 64 cards were producing more stable FPS than "faster" cards with narrower buses.
1060 with 3GB runs game decently, but in cannot maintain 60 FPS in capitol city. It could however maintain 40 FPS at 1080p low locked, which is enough to finish the game. However, you could run game in 900p medium windowed, and then use Magpie/Blinue to upscale to 1080p . In fact, with this tool it is possible to play with AMD Vega iGPUs, or things like Nvidia MX 450. Run game in windowed 720p low/med , cap at 30 FPS , and upscale to 1080p.
Should be good, I'm running on a laptop 1660 ti on low and I'm getting consistent 60fps. Only problem is massive frame drop when going from one area to another, game will freeze for a second while it loads the shaders.

Playing Elden Ring with Vega 8, capping to 30 fps and using Lossless Scaling to Frame Gen 90 fps. Works surprisingly well T_T

The other FromSoftware games are pretty open world too. You can typically run back and forth to any particular point in any of the games
You can even beat some of the games without reaching a certain location or running into a certain boss or set of bosses.

Like everyone saying, the performance is really bad in some areas with a lot of geometry and particle effects. Mostly CPU bound

Keep in mind ER was made to play on last gen consoles, so that's probably why you still got a smooth experience when using only 8GB of DRAM.
I literally just beaten the DLC on a 4th gen I5 with GTX 960. Stable 40 fps all around.

Currently the DLC areas seems to be more demanding, there’s decent amount of stutter and only use RT if your processor is like a 13700K and up.

You can play it on way lower cpu specs, but it's not so enjoyable, socket 771 xeons.

8+4gb and i dont think there's people crazy enough putting more combination on MB with 4 slot, definitely not recommended.

Benchmarking sites showed the game scales well up to 6 physical cores but HT was giving weird performance results but it seems to go beyond just HT. So an i5 8400 is actually a good CPU for Elden Ring. No HT and 6 physical cores (newer cpu). The game also seems to like the huge bus bandwidth of the VEGA cards. From my experience the VEGA 56 and 64 cards were producing more stable FPS than "faster" cards with narrower buses.
1060 with 3GB runs game decently, but in cannot maintain 60 FPS in capitol city. It could however maintain 40 FPS at 1080p low locked, which is enough to finish the game. However, you could run game in 900p medium windowed, and then use Magpie/Blinue to upscale to 1080p . In fact, with this tool it is possible to play with AMD Vega iGPUs, or things like Nvidia MX 450. Run game in windowed 720p low/med , cap at 30 FPS , and upscale to 1080p.

I actually once ran Elden Ring on an i5-3570, 16gb ddr3 ram, and a R9 285 gpu. I was shocked to find out that it was totally playable.

Should be good, I'm running on a laptop 1660 ti on low and I'm getting consistent 60fps. Only problem is massive frame drop when going from one area to another, game will freeze for a second while it loads the shaders.
