Both the Chinese and Taiwanese government officially claim Taiwan is a province of China. The only difference in their perspective is who should lead China
Excellent, as usual. I genuinely felt a lurch of sympathy over the terrible bodycount of China's disasters through the ages. I think that testifies for the quality of narration.
The Xia dynasty is mentioned in the video at 0:42. The narrator also says that the Shang is "[t]he first dynasty for which there is historical certainty."
To everyone saying Taiwan isn’t a part of China, yea it 100% is. Ask the government in Taiwan itself. Both the Chinese and Taiwanese government officially claim Taiwan is a province of China. The only difference in their perspective is who should lead China. The ROC and PRC both claim to be the rightful government of all of China. Imagine if there was a Civil War in the US and one side was left only holding Hawaii. But both sides still claimed to be the rightful US government and President.
Correct. I also do not understand why this is so hard to understand for some people. One country with two existing governments which hold different parts of the country.
@Trevor Only if Australia also claimed to be the legitimate government of the UK and fought a civil war over it. It’s more like if the White Russian forces during the Russian Civil War had a hold out in Siberia
To stop the argument Taiwan has a democratic and self governance goverment but Mainland China claims to control Taiwan as a province just with a very great amount of autonomy. If you see only 15 countries out of 195 recognize taiwan as an independant state so you choose if its seperate or not im just stating facts.

A few clarifications: During the Ming dynasty, China fought a war in Korea to repel a Japanese invasion. This was known as the Imjin War. Korea was a protectorate at the time and had requested aid, and it would have undermined China’s influence in the region to refuse even though the Ming dynasty itself was financially stretched. Second, technological advancement continued in the Ming but without the massive infusion of colonial wealth experienced by Europe. Spanish silver poured into China in exchange for tea, silk, porcelain, but China itself never controlled the silver mines. This created significant economic gyrations that ultimately weakened both dynasties. Third, an important reason the Ming withdrew from state backing of maritime trade was the perception that a preceding dynasty, the Song, had been hobbled by factional conflict between different merchant groups making their profits overseas. The Ming wanted to curb the power of these merchants.
Its very strange that people from Taiwan province don't want to speak their regime name "republic of china". You can say what you would like to fight for. But before you actually get it, which i doubt you can, refuting the fact is even more miserable. It is a regime name that is not recognized by the world, simple as that. But as long as it is printed on your id card and passport, you cannot deny it. Though i am pure pro democracy, i don't like fabricating history.
