I guess this place is where Home Bar was. I tried makgeolli in Korea. I liked it. This looks like another place we're adding to our list of places to try. :D
Aloha Misty!! We absolutely love KBBQ!! One of our favorites. It’s always fun to see what banchan is offered at each spot bc they do vary from place to place. Brisket is usually a great start and then working your way to the other cuts like ribeye, pork belly, tongue, Kalbi, etc. Great to see that Rod and Gemma enjoyed it since it was their first taste of KBBQ. Definitely was wondering your thoughts on this spot as we had debated trying a KBBQ spots near town. Mahalo for another great adventure especially with our Aussie ohana!! Happy Aloha Friday and have a great weekend!! 🤙🏽
Hi Michelle and Jose! I thought this spot was pretty good and similar to Hangang. The banchan is different but it is what makes it exciting. I'm glad Rod and Gemma enjoyed the food. I think this place is closer to waikiki and the service was much faster than Hangang but the food is pretty similar. 🤙 hope you guys had a great vacation and a safe flight home!
Hi guys , add this to your list and you have to try that wine that comes in the bowl with the ladle. Very unique taste like a cloudy soft tasting lemonade gone wrong ..Lol
Hello Misty, my favorites restaurant every time we’re in Honolulu alway stopping at Korean garden, love theirs foods and when we done smell like smoke from head to my toes. Thank you for sharing your video. Have a great evening Misty. Peace.
@ThuanHoang-fd3dx Thank you Thuan. Not sure if they have a new system but we didn't smell smoke at all. They have a contraption the sucks the smoke from the actual stove and not the kind that sucks it from the tube. It was neat how it worked!
Question: I've seen places that provide lettuce for you to wrap up the meat , ban-chan, and rice and some places like this one that doesn't provide lettuce or do you need to order it? Which is the more authentic way to eat the food?
I've never had Korean beer before. I need to expand my beverage repertoire. Mung bean jelly? I've never even heard of that before. Rod and Gemma are such an adventurous couple. Good for them! 🍻
@titasmom678 Terra, Cass and Kelly are the most popular ones. At the convenience stores there's more selections such as craft beers and IPAs. I guess they're trying to copy western beer. The popular beers are light like Bud Light or Miller Lite. They are so open minded and adventurous! Love that about them. 😊
Hi Misty , What a great night , we didn’t know what to expect and were happily surprised by the variety of food we had. Great concept way of eating and we will have to try a Korean BBQ back home in Australia! Cheers Rod and Gemma 🤙
Hi Rod and Gemma! I hope your holiday was an amazing one! It was nice to get together twice! I enjoyed your conversation and company. I'm glad you enjoyed the K BBQ and I'm sure you'll find a nice quiet place in Sydney to enjoy it if you ever want to try it again. Have a safe cruise home. 🛳 😊
Never heard of Krush, we have some very large Korean super markets here with more food I can ever try. I have never seen Krush though." OOOOh Soju, I have found its good for colds, hahahaha. Is the rice wine drank hot?
Actually got to like it and had it a lot this week in Korea. So it is a brand there mostly sold in the convenience stores. The rice wine is always ice cold.
@Keliiyamashita Hi Kelli! I haven't been to Gen in years. I'd say Gen for a chain has decent flavor and is worth it if you're a big eater. This one like other Korean BBQ like Millions can be expensive if you eat a lot. 🤙
I love KBBQ. Glad to see Rod and Gemma truly liked it. I have friends who were mad and complained that they had to cook their own food. It was really weird. I guess it's not for everyone. See you next week.
@alant.541 yes I think that's an American thing to not want to cook your own food. However in Korea the ajimas cook it for you and cut it into bite sized pieces with scissors. If you touch the tongs you get scoldings 🤣
Aloha Misty and friends: It was nice going along you enjoying grill-your-own Korean BBQ. Seeing the liquor served in a bowl is part of of the experience of dining at this Korean-cuisine establishment - I remember my grandfather drinking his rice liquor from a small bowl instead of a small cup. All the food looked “yummy” and was presented well. The sides looked interesting and, like you said, unique. This vlog reminds me to visit my local Gen BBQ - it has been years since the last visit. 😊! Great vlog! Best wishes and much 🧧, fellow 🐯and friends!
Mahalo Bill! We also have 2 Gens here. I haven't been for years but I do have good memories of it food wise. Can't go wrong with all you can eat. We should pay a visit there since I live near one! I hope you have a great week ahead and find some good ono eats! Take care! 🐯
Yo Misty it’s so weird watch this Korean restaurant while you stay in Korea! 😂! I was looking to see if the stink tuna commented, damn she didn’t 😂! The food looked Ono for sure! Hope to see you Monday!
Korean food is one of my favorite. One gotta try this place. Great video Misty!
Thanks Robert! Yes the meats were nice and so was the banchan. 🤙

@gailsiangco5599 yes nice company and great food. 🤙
The banchan looked interesting and yummy, especially the mung bean jelly and eggplant. Glad you all had a nice time!
Yes I love that every restaurant has their own banchan and it is a surprise every time. 😊

We like this spot too. The mung bean jelly we had was a little different but its cool to see they switch up the banchan
Yes I like seeing all the different banchans each restaurant makes. If it's the same old it gets boring.
Hoooo..., so onolicious..., been there ate that...!!! I can smell your food.... Go GURL
Thanks braddah! 🤙

@@Walts-Travel aw well if you come this way again I'll treat you to some. 🤙
Misty, how is this place compared to Gen at Ala Moana?
