- As the cold grips the country, Eskom says it has resumed load reduction in seven provinces. Although the power utility claims this is not rolling blackouts.
It says there has been no load-shedding for over 100 consecutive days, due to what is says, is sufficient generation capacity.
Eskom warns that network overloading has resurfaced with the onset of winter.
It claims it has no option but to implement load reduction to protect its assets from repeated failures and explosions, which pose a risk to human lives.
Eskom's spokesperson Daphne Mokwena shares more.

Eskom is trying to fool people with its terminology
Not at all. Municipalities don't want to pay Eskom so Eskom cuts off electricity.
She doesn't even know what she is talking about! They will only fool those who want.
It is loadshedding finish and klar!
lol.. load shedding has been added to the dictionary 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Seems as if implementing load reduction and implementing loadshedding is difficult to explain. Amazing how getting to the point, gets you nowhere.
It's not that difficult to be honest. Eskom has the capacity now but municipalities don't pay for supply so they turn off their electricity. Eskom has solved it's problems but if customers don't pay then they don't get services.
@@kusaselihlengubane8984 When people don't pay their water bills, the city cuts the flow. What's wrong with cutting off the municipality that doesn't forward payments to ESKOM and charge the officials?
@valmaadams5160 Right! It's as if logic is hard to follow when it comes to this government.
@@kusaselihlengubane8984 Logic is not a brand politicians apply. At first it's like applying soap to a sponge in the shower. Then when the product smells too nice, or draws too many comments. They now charge to a shower gel. Same product, same effect, but in the mouth of the politicians, it's a different ball game.
We new that we will only charge the name from loadshedding to load reduction..
How do they employ these people who can not even explain their core function! SHOCKING!
Word salad.
Dry salad 😂
implementing... implementing...implementing... yah ne. You explained nothing 😂
So is EKDOM going to charge us more for this load-reduction?
People who are illegally connected are not customers.
Interesting how a R200 surcharge was sort of..... slipped in at a JHB municipality before this explanation was hatched? Got to make up future projected lost revenue somewhere I suppose. Is not 'Insider Trading' illegal? Change the name of Megawatt Park to Southfork maybe? (For those old enough to remember the Ewings!)

Why it's has to be in township only where people need it the most
...if you have a transformer in your area that keeps popping it is more than likely due to electricity theft. That could be guest houses that use electricity illegally by bypassing the meter and or illegal connections of extra dwellings in back yards, apart from informal settlements that are not legally connected. All citizens would benefit from correct connections. It is time to diminish this problem.
Jusy doing what they get (over) paid for! And we are supposed to applaud them! 😂
This is equivalent to the average worker in the private sector just showing up for work for three months and then expecting their employer to applaud them and give them a raise - just for doing the bare minimum - their job!
If Eskom were to keep the lights on uninterrupted for at least five years and halve their staff complement and pay off the hundreds of billions of debt - then we can say well done.
Does load reduction mean payment reduction too?
Im a sassa pensioner HOW will I survive...200 rand is my food ...
Kahlekahle what problem were solved?
😅😅😅 playing the "implementing" drinking game. How many times this woman says "implementing" take a shot the bottle is finish before the interview is finished 😅😅😅
Please we dont need explanation.Load shedding has long started at North West Province Ngaka Modiri Molema Municipality Mahikeng on cold weather.
Stop messing with the wires then they complain more
Many farms in western cape was in dept with electricity and water they was wright it of but we who buy every day electricity as poor people we buy hundred rand electricity and get 30 units with other means the poor paid for that depts of these farms remember natural desaster come for you
🤣
Supply legal connectors pp
You must stop fooling, we shall visit your home/house to do our washing, ironing, bathing and cooking, be warned, we are paying for that service, you working there you don't suffer any load reduction. It will be unfortunate when we visit you,
Build people houses, meters installed are doing the calculations and people are paying, the municipalities are not paying you and you don't deal with them ,you make rate payers to suffer instead. We shall turn the tables and it won't be nice
