I honestly think that if you get all the places of power as your spies, the intro scene should be the 4-6 of your generals carrying out the overlord and throwing him out the window to his death, no battle just splatter.
Better yet, Overlord walks out and the entire defending army turns against him, storming into the throne room while the archers fill him full of holes in his own balcony.
I had a fortress full of spys for an achievement. The Overlord found out one of them, the soothsayer. Funny enough is that in my first encounter with the soothsayer he said he saw visions of multiple things, two of those things being the edge of a knife and Talion's death. He said Talion's death was the most important, so he didnt realize he was foreseeing his own death.

Reminds me of this passage from the wiki page on the Crypteia "the Spartan ephors would pro forma declare war on the helot population so that any Spartan citizen could kill a helot without fear of punishment." This was a kind of military/security operation the Spartans would engage on with their own slave population to cow them. It was more of a kind of terror operation but it was a war "pro forma" meaning this war was simply a formality. I get a similiar feeling out of a lot of the engagements in Shadow of War, the orcs you fight are set up to essentially already be under your control, but either the orcs want entertainment in the pit or they want to depose the overlord by showing everyone whose the strongest and toughest and bestest git. I mean you intentionally let orcs live so that you can fight them later, the whole shaming ritual is one of these formalities.

god, i just finished the bruz missions and he ambushed me twice, shamed him twice more. then i thought "what the hell, nerf him to lvl 1 and make him suffer i chase after him and hes having a trial by ordeal. gets mauled to death instantly by a caragor. guess he was looking more for suicide than a trial
Cory Hooper I captured a fire graug and chased him around the map shaming him over and over but I accidentally killed him with the fire breath eventually lol.
lol, so i played more and he apparently lived, though his face was all covered in rope and bandages. shamed him all the way to lvl one and he kept trying to hunt graugs (guess he REALLY wanted to die lol). if he somehow survives, im making sure hes lvl 1 again, then ill force him to join me again, make him a body guard, and summon him time to time just so i can beat the shit out of him for my own amusement. kinda like the jester minion from overlord.
Mark Royston you can do this but it makes it easier if anything. Not saying there's anything wrong with it because it kinda adds up because the time you take just to get a spy in place could be equal to the time you take to kill the warchief
What are we bothering with the carving jems for after getting them all done and xp boosts? what for if we're all leveled up? also what's the point of the chests we win anymore? You get to Steward level and then what!? spoils of war mean nothing then too, the end of the game is er... ? I've studied creative computer game design at Swansea UTSD and I can see where they've had too many cooks in the kitchen here, just cross breed this fucker with Cod and You've got brilliant multiplayer, they just don't know how to do do it or can't be arsed to spend on servers.
hack and slash games aren't really made for multiplayer, or at least not this one. Just imagine all the counters you would do against another player and it would be a completely different system too. the way this game is set up is to just point to wherever your camera is and that's who you'll hit. imagine you trying to hit someone in multiplayer with the same skills as you. it would take forever, or be tedious.
There should almost be a special cut scene where all your spies come up behind the overlord and just kick him off. Instantly win forts by flooding them with successful spies.
Anybody else just love the momentum they build on this game when they're shouting out the name of their leaders? Makes you feel like you're in the middle of some honor-bound fight and you have to see it through.
Much have been removed and is its such a shame, same happend in SoM too. The Fortress gameplay seemed way more dynamic in the early gameplays that were shown.
Before you take the regional Fortress, when you recruit a Captain, you have the option to have him to infiltrate and spy on a War Chief. If he survives the fight pit match he will become a bodyguard for the War Chief. Then when you’re ready to take out the War Chief, during his intro, your spy will betray him. Some Ologs have flamethrowers.
I can just imagine saurons army coming to liberate the fort then they see everyones naked. Including the overlord. Sauron will be like: welp that's enough orc porn for today.
You can actually assign multiple spies as bodyguards to the overlord so when you finally confront him within his inner sanctum the men he has surrounding him are all on your side. I assigned 7 bodyguards once and all seven were in the throne room fighting along side me in the final battle. It would have let me assign even more but it was just to much slaughter. I don’t know what the limit is or if there even is one...
Love how the game developers made a system of spies Yet they didn’t have the idea of “what if the player makes a fortress full of spies?” It would be good to see some betrayal scene

Wait this isn't how everyone takes out the forts? Doing it like this makes it so much less annoying though - plus you get the extra EXP for fighting all the other orcs beforehand. I've ALWAYS done it like this - once I realised I could dominate almost any orc in the game, it was a no brainer that this was the next logical step. Plus I kinda assumed people would do it just for the achievement.
I usually kill them or do this but I've seen some people have spies for the warchiefs and have them kill the warchief during the siege idk it doesn't make much differences I prefer the idea of killing them during the siege because usually sieges are too easy because I recruit all of them

I pretty much go through the trouble to only capture the fort after making everyone a spy, and if the warlord has captain followers I claim those as well, then I can just sit back and watch them go to work.

I pretty much go through the trouble to only capture the fort after making everyone a spy, and if the warlord has captain followers I claim those as well, then I can just sit back and watch them go to work.
