Peavey Ultra Plus high gain monster Part 2!! The Tones...So much gain

Hi folks, after a good clean, some time for any dampness to leave... it's time to hear this beast. Bought for just €250 this 25 year old Peavey Ultra Plus is from the same era and designer as the Peavey 5150 and JSX...and it shows, it's halfway between the two and I think it's all the better for it. Not the gain of a 5150 but still more than enough. if you find one, just get it.

It really does, I can't stop playing it, it LOVES the Celestion V30 cab, I've got the bits coming to make a footswitch for it, the crunch channel NEEDS to be used. Thank you for the compliments, it means so much

Absolutely, I would love Peavey to launch a range of all his amps, all USA made... The "JB" range to get into the more boutique market but at half the price in true Peavey style

GAS also comes w/ regret of the things Traded and sold. I had this back in the day but traded it for the PV VTM 120 which was Judas Priest in an box... The clean on the VTM was awful, so I always missed the PV Ultra, plus the chging Logo light.

We have all done it, I sold a 70s Orange cab with Greenbacks for next to nothing, Laney amps galore, pedals, rack gear... but now, I keep it all if I can

Thank you, I was comparing it to my Bugera 333xl which is based on the Peavey xxx or Jsx but even though you can hear a similarity, the Peavey just has more "chunk" and full tone...I may do a comparison video in future. I really love this amp though.

Is there a lag when switching between clean and crunch with the footswitch?

@@larrysdinner sorry for the late reply, I'm on tour doing guitar tech work for a big rock band in Europe just now but got home last night and tested the switching to be 100% right...yup it's instant, as instant as pressing a stomp box. So for live players you can go clean to which ever gain you select instantly...like Enter Sandman intro to main riff.

What are your settings 17:45 into the video? Sounds loads better than mine. Also wondering if you got a really good ultra channel going too.

As far as I can remember gain 1oclock, treble is high at 3 o clock, mid 11oclock, low 2 o clock, I used the cab with Vintage 30s, quite mid focused speakers and bright. The Ulta plus doesn't work so well in a Laney 4x12....resonance is one to watch, if it's on loose it can sound boxy so tight or mid is

Oh Ultra gain channel, I use the same EQ settings BUT don't boost the ultra channel

I’m sub number 300 I have pictures for evidence so when. You have 10 million and you bring in every sub that ends in 00
