- Messmer the Impaler is a very challenging demigod boss in Elden Ring's new DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. In this video I show you how to deal with Messmer's attacks and how I beat him (no summons) using a Blood Greatsword (the colossal sword) with the powerful weapon skill, Giant Hunt.

Don't lose this sense of teaching and visual aid. This is really easy to watch and understand. These boss fights are becoming more manageable. Subscribed for more guides like these :)
Thanks I appreciate the feedback! I'm really glad it was helpful and easy to follow.
Came back to say after watching this guide, I did beat Messmer and for the first time, I didn't get angry after any of my deaths. I analyzed everything, referenced this guide from memory, then adapted. It was the most calming bossfight I've ever had. Thanks again :)
Weapons of Choice:
1. Dragon-Hunter's Great Katana +10
2. Fingerprint Shield (No skill)
3. Mimic+10
4. Hornsent summon
It was just a big aggro trading fight, while pegging him with attacks of opportunity. My favorite hit to pull off was after the 3 snake combo, I would charge up the katana and slash him as he was coming back to human form.
Nicely done! Glad you got him down and that the video helped! It's easy to get frustrated with souls bosses and just run it back but it's nearly always better to just slow it down and actually look at the bosses animations etc.
Dude how the hell did my gameplay improve after i watch this you explained realy good that even a dumbhead like me understood
Lol, thanks I appreciate the feedback, glad it helped!
I've watched a couple of his videos so far, and my gameplay also improved greatly. My confidence level increased as well and I can stay calm during these fights.
I've already put in a couple nights worth of experience fighting Messmer so I was kinda familiar with the combos but your advice and tips gave me insight from a detached perspective and things sort of just clicked for me -- I became more patient and I ended up finally seeing the second phase twice, killed him on the second time! Great guide man, feels good to finally beat him
Nice work, he's a tough one, glad the video helped!
I absolutely crushed him with a Reduvia and Great Knife (Blood Affinity). BLOOD BLADE!! Level 215. Dex 45 Arc 60.
LoBE, Winged Sword Insignia, Shard Of Alexander. Melted.
Great guide, deserves more views!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
This is a fantastic guide
Thanks, glad you like it! Hope it helps.
W guide made me understand the boss attacks alot more killed him in 5 tries after
your build for this boss also includes having Fias curse on ?
He absolutely has to be less resistant to holy than the other types because I just melted him with the sacred relic sword lol. Im at like level 13 scadutree blessing also.
he is, that was wrong info, fextralife stats are up today.
i beat him with ' the Water fowl - i died like 777 times tho
I used a great katana and lions claw it was a piece of cake🍰 I would recommend staying close to him aswell and his second phase is pretty straight forward just dodge the snakes when they come at u ig 🤗
Nice vid btw
Thanks glad you liked it. Lions claw also great, the hyper armour is nice
0:34 the wiki says he's weak to holy damage
tbh the biggest boost i needed was just someone saying that his attacks are honestly not that bad lol
Bleed starfist + endure !
Is he weak to Frost or anything?
