- Easy way to beat Messmer the Impaler in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Will you get bragging rights... no. But will Messer's cheeks be clapped... yes! BTW this is NG+3 so I'm sure it works even better on a regular playthrough.

I love his opening attack. It tells a lot about how he should be approached.
There's little range he can't reach you.
It took me a surprising amount of time to figure out that it was just a delayed forward roll. It doesn't seem like the type of attack you would want to roll into, but it works
Yup, genuinely a great fight and doesn’t let you work him over too easy. Loving the difficulty. Go back to base game bosses and they seem easy now.

I was already dead, but had knocked him into the second phase, too.

summon sign is in the arena so summoning the npc doesn't give the boss more health

You can also use the dung eater puppet summon. He takes less damage the less health he has, and casts a debuff on enemies that lowers their defense and for some reason everytime I’ve summoned him in the dlc, they only focus on him

@@SoulsBros420 of course! It’s just super tedious the processes of getting him as a puppet. You also have to make sure you haven’t beaten the game because I believe you get locked out of the item you need to turn him into a puppet if you do if I remember correctly
That is correct! My level 200 is my only character I got his puppet on because it is a process lol.
I never picked those up. I'd already done his quest by the time I was able to turn him, so couldn't do it.
I just wanted the prawns from the merchant, so made sure to get it done.
You can give the mimic the raw meat dumpling and they’ll regain a ton of health without the status effect. Plus they’ll have an unlimited amount
Yup! He only uses it like every 3rd fight and never against the last boss but the times he does heal I am thrilled!
Messmer’s cutscenes took longer than my actual fight with him…

This strat works even better if you give your mimic raw meat dumplings in your hotbar. They have a chance to randomly eat one and restore 50% hp
Very true! I didn’t include one in the Messmer fight because it’s a bit more quick and if you have Hornsent, you can kind of gank Messmer lol. But for most of the other fights, especially the final boss, that raw meat dumpling can be a life saver! 😎
You can alternatively shred this with cold raptor talons too!!!
I will have to try that out! I usually only blood infuse those, never thought of cold infusion-but then you WOULD have frost and bleed so that is pretty darn smart!!!

the reason i suffered 15 deaths was to learn his pattern, in my play thru in eldenring close to the end game i was depending on mimic tear so much that i felt like i couldnt do anything without summoning, so i stopped doing any summons. either i win alone or i dont win.
Love that dark souls spirit! That’s what got me into PvP. Once you surpass the base game challenge with all the bells and whistles, you can make it more challenging by omitting them. The challenge is what we seek, and that kind of ruins other games for us, unfortunately. 😂
@@SoulsBros420funny enough i got ds3 way before elden ring, played 2 hours. died to the toturial boss over an over again went to do research on the topic "how to git gud" learned it lies in eldenring. played eldenring i learned mechanics and everything. beat eldenring 100% came back and still died to the toturial boss. 10/10 game.

I’ve intentionally beat base game on a new char 6 times to learn how to actually use the back blade correctly this dlc is exceptional and I would have easily paid 60 for it
Same here! Still exploring a little bit of the map to do a full completion round but I haven’t even begun to play with all these new flashy weapons yet and I’m so pumped about it! 😌
I used my spirit summons, summoned the NPC and cheesed with my OP mage build. The Comet spell is very OP with 99 intelligence!

Putting shabiris woh on a mimic is a strat I never thought about....then again I'm bad at item swapping during stressful situations so that's probably why I never bothered
Hard swapping is a skill all on its own and one I only got somewhat decent at, so don’t feel bad! It does work, though, for about 60-70% of the fight, which is usually enough to heal and gain your footing back. 😊

The objective was to kill the boss, not to sleep on'em.
If you use sleep you can make them sleep on you! 🌈 The more you know.

It works a little better on the main game bosses but still works 60%+ on the DLC bosses. Helps to take a bit of that constant heat off.

Take away his incantation seal and hard swap it on yourself after you summon your mimic-same time you take off sabriri’s woe. I always take my bow off before I summon my mimic cause otherwise he just sits in the corner and shoots a single arrow while the boss raw dogs me.
Golden hippo was a harder fight than messmer :/ he was cool but died like a pushover for me
Actually, I had the same experience. Hippo was tearing me up, while Messmer bleed out fairly easily. I was a fairly low Scadutree level when I fought Messmer so I can imagine it would be far easier if it had been 15+.
@@SoulsBros420 I think mine was lvl 13, and for messmer the thing that got me was just that he's really too fair to be ridiculously hard. His attacks are well telegraphed, he doesn't have many moves that can one shot you, and he doesn't have ridiculous resistances.
Meanwhile hippo be like "IM GOING TO HIT YOU WITH THE AIR NOW JUST BECAUSE"
😂 right! The final boss is a lot like that too-never can tell when to dodge or anything. Barely beat him just tonight.

I had more trouble with the finger boss, messmer I beat him in the first try 😅
Dang, that’s awesome. I put the finger lady down no issues, but Messmer gave me a run for my money. None of them compare to the final boss. The final boss is so hard I went to kill melania to activate her great rune (thinking it would help in the final boss fight) and she seemed trivial-downed her first go and wasn’t ever close to dying.

Messmer really isn’t that hard the dlc isn’t that hard… but radahn…. He’s got them fuckin hands.

Does this talisman work on invading like getting the NPC enemies attention
Nope, the npcs in the world you are invading never will pay you any attention. Though, bigger enemies can hurt you but never agro on just you.

For sure, there are a lot of things they could change so the host doesn’t have 99.9% of the advantage, but us invaders make due with it-which goes to show you how much more skilled PvP players are.
I just tried this a few times and it sesms to make no difference in the boss aggro, am i supposed to let the mimic solo the fight? Any attacks i do seem to instantly have him come after me. Maybe im just getting unlucky (yes i took the talisman off in the fight lol)
Yeah, the talisman only works maybe 60% of the time and each time you go in to get your licks in, he will aggro immediately so be ready to roll. Try him solo a few times to memorize his moves a little so when he comes at you, you can react with some knowledge. Don’t give up-you can do it, I believe in you!!!

I think this has officially solidified my temptation to uninstall this game. Bosses aren't fun anymore
Oh no! 😥 Keep at it-this boss has well choreographed moves, give it a good try like 25-30 times and you will probably naturally get good enough to beat him even without summons. Granted it might take closer to 45-50 in some cases if you don’t learn those kinds of things quickly. Nonetheless, if you keep at it you will win. Niice! I didn’t find him overly difficult either but he bleeds really easy and as long as you can dodge his one shoters it doesn’t take many tries.

Royal Knight Armor altered. You get it from trading in Loretta’s remembrance from the haligtree to the roundtable hold. Make your character slider as thin as you can to make the armor look that thin and elegant.

Oh no! Yeah in my longer video on this method, I talk about how it isn’t full proof and you still have to dodge about 40% of the time. Keep at it! It helps to fight him alone a handful of times so you know how to get out of hiding one/two shot range and let your summons step in and agro. You can do it!
Or just learn his attacks and get better at the game to beat him? He's not that difficult compared to others.
I agree and I did with my meta 150 build (no summons) this was just an easy guide for those without the time commitment to master the boss fight. Getting gud is time consuming lol

My bad, I think what I meant to say was the boss should be easier due to this being a NG+3 and should be easier on regular playthrough. My high school GPA was 2.34, so a little grace is required here LOL.

I thought he was decently tough before the patch, but yeah not Melania level by any means. The DLC bosses are also very quickly agro so that throws a lot of people off.

@@Shotzeethegamer I agree it's more fun to learn and do it yourself, but not everyone has the time to flesh out their experience to that degree. I prefer difficulty in PvP, so PvE isn't my jam, even though I do still love it. Different strokes for different folks-why judge?

Listen, if you want to challenge yourself, by all means, but some people just want to get through the game with what little time they have, and that’s 100% acceptable. Summons are a game mechanic and no gatekeeping changes that.
