    Have you done a close look at the ocusync module on the back end that would be interesting to see

    Very interesting, thanks. It is very rare to find person, who deep this far. Great job. Btw, Mavic 3 (as I see it) has 15km distance by specs and Mavic 2 has 8km. Wondering what they changed in order to achieve that. Are you planning to cut open Mavic 3?

    Will you be doing a teardown on the controller also? with the chip info?

    Nice video, could you tell me what is the component next to the three BIG capacitors just in line with the USB connector . ?

    Still a lot of tech inside these little things

    Great video! Just one important question: in which memory chip the flight log data are stored? I think there should be an onboard dedicated flash memory chip but it seems to me not to be present among the illustrated chips. Any help is very appreciated, thank you.

    Could you introduce the mavic 2 pro core circuit board,sir!

    I believe that Micron ram chip is 8 Gigabit = 1GB, not 8 Gigabyte. Maybe the same goes to the second "SEC" memory chip, which should be 4Gigabit, which is 512MB.

    • @zaprodk
      @zaprodk 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree it's 8 Gigabits - no need for 8GByte for firmware. Also SEC is Samsung Electronic Corporation.

    Did you take out the onboard memory card, remove data and see if it was still usable?

    Great video! I want to steal my Mavic Pro battery power to power up some other gizmos mounted to my Mavic. I need about 4 amps at 5v. I have a 10A regulator.
    Any advice to elegantly bring out the voltage?

    • @ddegn
      @ddegn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No help with "elegantly" bringing out the power but I just want to make sure you noticed the "VBAT" and "GND" test points at the bottom of the image he showed us. These two lines should provide the full voltage from the battery.
      Again, I'm not claiming this is the best (or even a good) option but I wanted to make sure you saw these test points. Good luck.

    awesome video, Thanks! quick question, If my Mavic's VPS and forward obstacle avoidance sensors stopped working mid flight, also no active track and tapfly. would it be my main board which is broken or might it be my gimbal controller board which is not transmitting the data, like a lose connection? I get no errors and my vision sensor state in my main info screen is normal. any advice will be appreciated!

    As someone who isn't schooled & at risk of asking a stoopid question, if I was say an electrical engineer would I / should I be able to name each component and know where it should be on the board?...someone please indulge me!

    • @NilsRohwer
      @NilsRohwer  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Paul, would you just like to know what the components are out of interest sake? I can name a few for you by describing them here:
      The things with 3 legs, 2 on one side, one on the "top" in a kind of pyramid layout are transistors. the things with silver tops and bottoms and brown between them are capacitors. The largish things which have a kind of hexagonal shape are inductors. The things which look like capacitors named above, but are black are either resistors or smaller capacitors.The other chips with 6 legs, 3 on either side, are what many call "glue logic". They're either operational amplifiers or some other chip like timers etc, but I would imagine they're op-amps to amplify some or other signal. If it would help I could maybe make a video about it.
      A good channel to learn basic electronics and be entertained is "big Clive".
      Cheers,
      Nils

      @@NilsRohwer Thanks for that Nils, your answer has drove home the fact that I need to begin at a more basic level, maybe I will attempt to pick your brains in about 2 or 3 years meanwhile I am starting with the 'Dummies' series of text books.

    My mavic was under salt water for 5 minutes, you think water can get into all the chips you show in the video? how hard was to get the shielding off?

    • @NilsRohwer
      @NilsRohwer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Erwin,
      Saltwater is notriously bad for electronics, however it is well conformally coated so it could be ok. You can easily take of the covers, they just pop off, there is nothing but friction (and the bottom plate) holding them in place. You should probably replace the thermal paste should you take those covers off. have you tried powering it on after it was dry?

    • @eried
      @eried 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nils Rohwer thanks for the answer. Yeah everything seems ok but I get ESC error when trying to take off. Not sure if sell it for parts or try to debug the issue. The M1 motor (frontal right) does not start in the dji assistant 2, all other ones work ok.

    any one can explain why after i replaced gimball with original camera from mavic - both gimball and video -dead

  • @souzamunck
    @souzamunck 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello, Rohwer! My Mavic is with an error 1112. I can't activate it to fly. Suport DJi said he can't activate it because they reported it as a transport robbery, I was tricked by a salesman, I lost my money. Do you think if I change the logic board this problem can be solved? Thank you!

    Thank you a lot for this! Even though its an already quite old video: Pretty sure these RAM modules are GBit and not GB. So the SOC would have 1 GB RAM (not 8 GB) and the CPU uses 512 MB (not 4 GB). :)

    why mavic pro have a cortex a9 chip?

    • @NilsRohwer
      @NilsRohwer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's basically a flying computer and all of the separate logical parts like the vision sensor and IMU need to work together, that is what the main chip does.

    Hey gr8 work but can u make a circuit diagram of dji mavic

    • @NilsRohwer
      @NilsRohwer  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, I wouldn't be able to reverse engineer the circuits but regarding a block diagram, most drones work the same way, flight controller - RC control, Speed controllers and motors...

    • @NilsRohwer

      That is the IMU (the large block to the back left) It contains the barometric pressure sensor as well as the accelerometer.

    Pfuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, 5ghz quad core CPU with 4gb ddr3 mains CPU and 8gb ddr2 ram for camera. 1,5GHz is clock for CPU, nothing 5GHZ.
