I think if Victor suddenly had a case of the hiccups, they would be in syncopation. He reminds me of Winton Marsalis, the level of musicianship, the level of musical knowledge( theory & history) & the level of passion they both have that just seems to continue to grow. Mad Respect to these men.
I've seen Victor several times between Soul Circus and his other solo gigs, and I have to say that he and his band mates are not only incredible musicians, but incredible performers. These guys know how to put on a show.
when the four-quarter time gets boring ... conspicuous this wonderful "jumping out", the one on the seven, on the six on the five etc. It is a perfect rhythm exercise! YES!

If you're going to single out the drummer to say he messed up a few times... well everyone on that stage errored at some point. To me it weren't that obvious. Not looking for a person's flaws to see their mistakes. I'm listening to the chemistry of these geniuses at what they do best. Not many musicians can count time signatures at this level... sad but that's just the reality. No negatives in here for me! Very well done my brother's. 💯🙏🏾
I met him once in Indy at a guitar center. Really cool and down to earth guy. I had no clue who he was, but my friend Ryan who's a bass player knew of him. We chatted for a 40 minutes..
i was having a tough day at work and this was the cherry on top to make things smooth. Thank you Victor and band for being incredible musicians who also have fun doing their craft :) i love this so much.

I genuinely believe he's surpassed Victor as far as technical ability. Idk about improv, but Charles is absolutely mind blowing, and is still incredibly musical. He has some goofy videos that are just for fun, but if you watch a few of them, you'll see what I mean. Especially his more serious videos. It's unbelievable what he can do.

This is well underrated comment, as the analogy is brilliant. It looks so simple when you get it broken down like this... until you try it yourself. That's the moment you realise it takes years and years of hard work to make it look this effortless.
Fun story that some of y'all probably won't believe, but i attended a music camp for teens in Texas ( like yeah with literal tents) and his brother Roy 'future man' was an instructor. I didn't know who he really was or how famous he is, being a member of the fleck tones and everything, i just knew he was cool as hell (real poetry nerd too). But he did the same little lesson with the young aspiring musicians, the "now two times!" thing while sitting on a Cajon while the rest of us tried to play along. Fun as heck.
One guy who "tried and succeeded" is Charles Berthoud. I cannot reccomend his videos enough. He was completely unknown just 2 years ago when I discovered him, and he's already become basically the most highly regarded player in the world. The guy is unbelievable and deserves as much attention as he can get. He's absolutely on the same level as Victor.

Yes you are necessary, otherwise you wouldn’t be here. The challenge is to play your best, because Mr Wooten can’t be everywhere. Neither can so many other great players/singers. Use the gifts God planted in you to their fullest, whatever they are. Learn what you can and add it to your skills… everyone needs good teachers and when you know something, share it to those coming up behind you.

He's just so natural and fluid in his playing. He makes the most difficult sounding lines look like a stroll in the park...
I saw him with the Flecktones several times in the 90's, he's still going strong.
