Best I've ever heard Miller played. WOW!!. Wooten, what planet are you from? You make the best bass players play great! Then you bring something new to "ears". And you stay humble, and you keep playing in a zone that's uncharted and so extremely "FUNKY". You're brothers are the same way. Reggie, no words.. Drummers that take the stage with you, OMG!!! Thanks so much for this set.😘
Personal preference.. but I've heard better solos from Marcus but he never disappoints and he's my all time fav ...both he and Vic have mastery on the bass and they make Pro's sound like intermediate to amateur bass players
there is something pure about bassplaying, its like 3 vulcanos, massive energy, but keeping it calm, and regulate the eruption, like riding 10 wild horses...
Miller's Super power has always been his phrasing to my ear. Some Bass players are quicker chop players than him but I get everything hes saying first listen with no unneeded words or phrases...
I like how Steve stayed out of the way. Tasteful chording here and there. Everyone knows he has chops as good as anyone but had no ego in his performance.
It's funny how Marcus was curious about Victor's pedal setup; Stanley Clark was doing that same octave transposition trick with Return to Forever over thirty years ago!
Not so gentlemen. Stanley wasn't using a pedal back then to achieve such pitch and tone. His Alembic bass guitar was a piccolo bass tuned a whole actave higher to achieve that pitch in tone naturally. Fast forward almost 30 years later we now have pedals that can mimic such sounds in pitch. Piccolo strings are designed to allow a bass to be tuned that high. Piccolo bass is one of the best inventions yet quite frankly. Beautiful in sound and tone.
the fender 77 jazz bass is what he's played for 40 plus years thats his instrumental voice ...he's always mentioned how alot of the great musicians he admired had their own personal instrumental..like Jaco, James Jameson, Stanley etc...so he wanted to do the same and the Sires are great but nothing comes close to his signature 77 jazz bass
I met Steve Bailey about 30 years ago at a gig I was doing in San Diego. We were of course in separate bands. I can’t forget what an EGOTISTICAL JERK he was that day!
I dunno... Sounds pretty good to me. With the computer to my Onyx Blackjack outboard sound card, to a Pioneer sx-3700 receiver, then to the trusty Cerwin Vega D-9's, sounds like an acceptable simulation.
The fact that you don´t like the music or the style it´s understandable and a pretty common factor in music. The fact that you feel the need to express it in such a simple and stupid way just makes you look like, well, stupid. Especially when it comes to one of the best bassists in the world.

I've got tickets to see Victor and Steve later this year, I'm so pumped, I haven't seen them play live since a summer program at Berklee years ago
I like the old Catalinas better. Used to see Victor and Marcus there many times in the late 1990s. That place was what a jazz club should be.
The Stylistics quote here is incredible
I'm so happy that I found this video. I love this song, and to see them playing it was awesome
🔥🔥🔥
👏🏾👏🏾
Three basses, yet so much space
Three basses, but one bass Player...:
has to be space and structure otherwise its chaotic noise and it also depends on the song too
@@Jason5818UI exactly. These bassists showed restraint and professionalism.
wow love this ! 3 of the best ever !
Só monstro
That drummer 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
Derico Watson is the man

Idk why but I understand this so much

Always Fabulous!!!!!
Totally missed it. I can’t believe it. Thank you for sharing.
Don't forget the man himself Derico Watson on drums! Great playing all around, must've been an incredible night for the crowd.

MM:GOAT hands down
king Marcus
Steve Harvey on the drums 🥁 🙌
Thats a reach ...every bald black man with facial hair dont look alike L😂L
Ooh, Beatles quote! Rigby!
Thought I heard it. Yeah! Tutu quote as well.
2022 and MM is playing his Fender Jazz. Wondering how that works with his Sire partnership? Great video.
Usually has a Sire in guitar stand on stage last few times I’ve seen him.
is there a video where steve plays bass with a band?
i can not find one on youtube
I like how Steve stayed out of the way. Tasteful chording here and there. Everyone knows he has chops as good as anyone but had no ego in his performance.
That's not why....
Steve didn't want any part of these two...lol
a good musician must be able to play what he gotta play when he has to play it, not more, not less
@@4strings4me
Then, what is he doing there? Your comment is very silly.
@@pierrojules ....he's the often needed "token"
You're so good bro I love it 💞💞💞
Wooten’s solo reminded me of Eddie Hazel
Most people don't know how Awesome The Great Eddie Hazel was. Bruh! He, Jimmi, are two of my All Time Favs....
Pls If there is More I need that
O like Marcus Miller
It's funny how Marcus was curious about Victor's pedal setup; Stanley Clark was doing that same octave transposition trick with Return to Forever over thirty years ago!
Probably just curious about the specific pedal he was using

@@michaelkennedy7709 yeah, Michael manring also does some sick stuff with piccolo strings

Why does Marcus Miller play a fender jazz bass and not his signature jazz bass sire?
as usual, he plays his Fender Signature Jazz Bass (to be more precise: the original JB, from which Fender made his Signature model some years ago)
@@tomschuster2056 Thanks for the info! That’s super helpful!

Michael Jordan on the lead bass!
Marcus quebrou wooten no improviso
Wooten fez um bom contraste
Steve looking like a nervous white boy trying not to be too aggressive or step on shoes....
they are Marcus s guests ? 😂
I met Steve Bailey about 30 years ago at a gig I was doing in San Diego. We were of course in separate bands. I can’t forget what an EGOTISTICAL JERK he was that day!
30 years ago is a long time, so, he's probably matured by now
well he certainly isn't that way now.. I can't imagine him ever being egotistical. he's probably one of the sweetest people I know..
Steve has a unique witty slightly sarcastic personality, all in good fun. He’s fun to be around and all together a good dude.
I love these amazing players but the video sound is crap!!
what did you expect
I dunno... Sounds pretty good to me. With the computer to my Onyx Blackjack outboard sound card, to a Pioneer sx-3700 receiver, then to the trusty Cerwin Vega D-9's, sounds like an acceptable simulation.
It sounds good coming through my phone…sounds amazing with headphones.
White guy was redundant, victor was waay offkey in the end there…
Ребята, да все эти грувишки уже устарели лет как 20. Новое сыграйте выж матстера. Вроде.
Once I was very blown away by Steve B. but after years of the same lick I guess he's like the rest of us stuck in a rut, just sayin
He was also scared to jump in because of his color
Wtf shuruff?
He doesn't have a signature bass because he does the same lick. 🙄
Wooden always sounds so muddled
Speaking as a bass player, this is a little too much bass for me.
everyone cant pull this off but Marcus Victor and Stanley did a album together along with 2 tours that did very well
@@Jason5818UI yeah, I didn’t like those either for the same reason.
You go and stand and face the corner! And think about what you said... you.. you....🤬
