Gary Neville gives accolades to Southgate for having the deep conviction to take three players off the field after 70 minutes play, as though this is an indication of managerial ability rather than an acknowledgement that Southgate got the original team completely wrong.
These lads have been outstanding for a number of years and the way in which Southgate molded them into a team, mr brown tongue, no wonder the players and management team at England cant be arsed, with kiss arses like Neville they think they have won everything already and after the two previous horrendous failings the FA thought Southgate was doing a fantastic job, listening to all the ex England players who may just be waiting for job offers with the FA
Considering what Southgate has available, he should play a 4-1-4-1 with Rice as the sole CDM, Foden & Bellingham as the 2 8s/10s, Saka & Gordon providing the width on both sides, with Kane up top. This way you've got every single player besides Trippier playing in his natural position, giving the best chance of performing to their best levels. So Gordon coming in for Trent, & getting Foden back in his favored central position is the two obvious solutions. Southgate kind of needs to wrap a few of his best XI in cotton wool, as he can't lose players like Pickford, Walker, Stones, Trippier, & Rice in particular because there is no quality alternative.
We have a manager who is incapable of finding footballing solutions. You can see him on the touch line crossing his toes that someone will have an individual moment of brilliance to get us over the line, as he has absolutely no idea how to adapt his team either before or during the game
He's essentially Steve Bruce when he was at Newcastle hope for the best defensively and send the ball up to saint Maximin and hope and pray he doesn't something wild.
@@richardellis4636Trent is playing out of position. And blaming him is definitely going to be the go-to for the English when the inevitable happens. Never self reflect eh?!
People don’t like to hear this but there’s a lot of conflicting statements from the analysts. According to everyone on TV and radio there are 8 midfielders and forwards who “have to play”
Could we go to a 4-3-3 system as most players play in this system for their clubs🤔 Gordon needs to have a go on the left for a start, we need more width.
I would play a 3 4 2 1. Walker, stones and guehi at the back. Rice and Bellingham in the middle. Gordon and saka playing winger/wingback. I know it's not their natural positions, but they're young, fit and have the ability to do the job. Then palmer and foden playing behind kane.
I’ve commented this on a few things but…. The issue is the midfield. We’re letting teams come onto us and pin us back because there’s no one in midfield who is comfortable enough on the half turn receiving it from the backline. (Jude is playing further forward) It’s just constantly getting recycled out wide, then back to Pickford, then kicked long. Having to rely on individual quality from out wide as opposed to building from the back as a team. That’s why Wharton needs to be starting. You NEED that Spanish type midfielder who pieces it all together and is comfortable receiving the ball to feet with their back to goal, instantly on the half turn looking for forward passes. That’s clearly what he’s tried to do with Trent because of his phenomenal passing range but he’s not comfortable receiving it with his back to goal, same with Declan rice and we’ve nearly conceded stupid goals because of it. It’s an absolute waste if Wharton doesn’t start the Slovenia game. It would drastically change the tempo of our game and control we have in possession as other players would bounce off of him. You saw it in his brief cameo vs Bosnia, he was the player that everything went through. This ‘lack of caps’ or him being so young is irrelevant. He’s slotted right into that palace midfield coming from the championship and I can only imagine how good he’d play with so much talent around him.
Shut up Gary about Southgate have broken that mole about the team sitting back after scoring a goal. That statement was blasphemous at best. This is part of why England suffer in tournaments because you are in cahoots with the FA man.
I think Gary is right. Since you do not have width nor def midfielders the way to go is to move Walker to 3rd CB, move Trent to wingback and Jude to 8.
The most frustrating thing is, most of us can see the changes needed that will instantly make us 20% better. Get Trent out of that midfield for Wharton, a player that can help control a game and plays positive forward passes. Bench Kane, who is clearly nowhere near 100% fit, for Watkins or Toney, depending on what you want from your striker. Play Foden as a 10, and bring in Gordon on the left so we have pace on both flanks. He's also superb at pressing, as is Watkins. Bellingham is absolutely shattered, probably as much mentally as physically, and needs to be rested. If Foden also isn't producing in the 10 role for England then you have Cole Palmer to bring on. It's ridiculous that talents such as Palmer, Gordon and Wharton haven't kicked a ball yet and Mainoo has had 5 minutes.
The problem is simple, it's not the players. It's about the way England play football. This has been a problem for years that's gone unresolved. England can't play nice silky high-tempo football like these players are use to at Premier League level. We need a manager who plays football the way Klopp and Guardiola does to get the best out of them. In other words, the issue is Gareth Southgate and needs to be shown the South gate on his way out.
Formation: 443 attacking with attacking wing backs. Assuming that the formation allow England a lot more time on the ball, playing higher up the pitch pinning our opponents back I would play.. Pickford TTA Guehi Stones Walker rice Bellingham Foden Saka kane Bowen Points of discussion, tripper on the left is dead, Completely kills his passing game and for me makes him a dormant player just sort of there not offering much to the team at all. Walkers main attribute is his pace, from an attacking and defensive stand point this is what causes and also gets him out of trouble. No matter what side of the pitch his plays his spirit speed is not affected and his passing game is not elite so you don’t lose out on as much having him there. Trent has to play at RB offers far to much in this formation not to start, passing range and out put when runs are made is to much to leave on the bench (again higher defensive line, more possession and far more attacking style before the haters flock in) and before some talk about playing stronger teams, them games will of course be more open and back and forth which is how most elite teams play against each other, end to end high tempo football. Some will say more chance of us getting countered, but this means they is a lot of space on the pitch and more room to counter. We have lots of talent on the pitch and should not be afraid of this. Midfield 3: putting a end to the whole debate of how can we get them all playing where there effective. this formation allows them all to play where there know Rice 6 Bellingham 8(box to box) Yes he’s been 10 for Madrid but plays 8 just as well and allows foden to be central 10 (Such a strong midfield 3 by the way) Finally front three: Saka and kane pick there self but a harry kane who don’t just sit and wait at the top of the pitch, let’s take advantage of his link up with wingers and foden This leave the LW position open for actually winger who can hold more of the width like Saka stretching the defence and linking up with the attacking wing backs. I would personally play Bowen. But honestly I think they is 4 names you could argue could start here so each to there own.
English fans need to calm down. They don't have a God given right to win every match. They played poor but still came away with a draw and are two points clear at the top of the group. Just calm down!!!
In view of left side crisis, should review the formation in this competition. Perhaps can start with a back three of Walker, Stones, Guerhi. Trent or Trippier can play right wing back to support Saka at right wing. On the left side, just have either Gordon or Bowen as left winger. Midfield three of Rice, Bellingham or Gallagher (as deeper duo), with either Foden or Palmer to be central playmaker 10. As for centre forward, depending on opposition or rotation within games, either Kane, Watkins or Toney plays.
This tournament has at last shown Gareth Southgate for who he is. He's been fortunate with draws in other cup competitions but his ineptitude is there for all to see now.
Southgate is lost out here. You have two exceptional strikers sitting on the bench - Watkins and Toney - that you can rotate putting alongside Harry Kane. This guy however would rather shoehorn Trent into midfield. It's actually criminal.
The waffle on Trent is bizarre, what did Gallagher do when he came on as the recognised midfielder? He was worse, its not the players, it's the tactics and style of play.
It's not the players? Yeah, cause they overwhelmed us with their skill, speed, passing, energy and decision-making. They are alleged to be world-class, but when the opposition punches them in the face, their class and plans go up in smoke.
I think he's got to change the formation a bit 3-3-2-2 Pickford Walker-Guehi-Stones Trent-Rice-Gordon Bellingham-Foden Kane-Watkins Back-3 will be strong. Rice as the DM. Trent and Gordon as wing backs who can drop back to midfield if needed to defend. Bellingham and Foden just behind the 2 penalty-box strikers. Kane and Watkins up front. Watkins' pace up front will be a huge bonus because Kane does not stretch defenses. Trent and Gordon can beat players and fire in crosses to 2 target men.
SINCE THE WORLD CUP 1986 I’VE NEVER SEEN A MANAGER THAT PLAY 3 RIGHTS BACKS IN THEIR STARTING 11 HE DIDNT EVEN TAKE 1 FULLY FIT LEFT BACK HOW ???? "Other nations wouldn't do that" in regards to leaving Foden ot TAA out... No other country play's as many players as us out of position. Let's no kid ourselves, it's not like we're the only country with a crop of fantastic players. Italy, Spain, Germany have a lot of world class players but none of them are playing 3 RB's, 2 others out of position, no left back, forcing a player like Foden to play in a position he is not comfortable or the best in. It's mind blowing. Southgate's already lost us. We already criticise everything he does. It's his last tournament, why not just pick a group of completely random players and see where it takes us. Put on Palmer, Gordon, Watkins, Gomez, Wharton, Mainoo and just have a go! we've already lost hope in you Southgate, just do something different!
There's a number of issues this tournament. Firstly, experiments in a major tournament? Bizarre! Secondly, our attackers (Kane, Bellingham, Foden, Palmer, Saka) at club level are the highest chance creators in the league. Bringing them into a tournament and as a team struggling to register 5 shots on target per game? It's not that we've been playing a defensively tight France or Spain! Tactically somewhere along the way, we're being held back with slow and sloppy build up play. We can argue starting line ups all day long but without the correct team structure and tactics we may as well pack up.
"Some coaches stay around with the same team far too long,to the point where the team take on the 'character 'of the coach to the teams detriment"..This was taken from a Tutor at Loughborough college many years ago.. I have a feeling that England, as knowledgable as their coach/manager is, are proving this point. Good but without flair and adventure...
We need to stop putting our best players out and for them not performing...we've tried this for years and years....put out a team that plays well but not necessarily the best player. They are not best players if they can't play their best in these unfamiliar positions in an unbalanced team.
Not only imbalance, another issue is that too many attacking players want the freedom of the park. Kane, Jude, Foden essentially want to occupy the same positions.
Playing a true left winger (Gordon) is essential when we have a right sided left back that offers no width. Play the world-class misfiring Foden where he wants to be as a 10. Play the "best player in the world" (Bellingham) in his favourite position as an 8. If Foden doesn't work, replace with Palmer at 60 mins.
@@HarryKaneeWe do. He has built the team to sit back every time we score. Do it in every game, cost us against Italy in the final and we are still doing it.
We can debate all we want about who should be playing where and blah blah blah , and would it make any difference who plays where and why , when we play with fear scared of conceding as opposed to taking risks and playing with aggression Spain showed exactly how to play last night against Italy
England needs to start producing more English coaches who are elite, the same way how Germany and Spain are doing it. It’s no wonder we have failed tournament by tournament
“Southgate isn’t bothered if you play for a smaller team” short memory for when he left out grealish and said he needs a bigger move to get into the England squad.
Solution is not difficult: Pickford Trent Walker Stones Gomez Rice Mainoo/Wharton Saka Bellingham Gordon Kane When attacking turns into 3 at the back like City/Liverpool play. Trent moves forward to make use of his forward thinking passes and crossing. When Kane drops deep Bellingham can moves forward like he has for Madrid. Could even still play Foden on left and Jude and Phil swap with fluidity like they do for their clubs (but I think a natural winger in Gordon offers more defensively and attacking). The only way we will do well with this manager is to play a rigid formation with two dm's and only one of either Foden or Jude. He doesn't have the capacity or nouse to play the above.
Spain won the world cup with players like fabregas, david silva fernando torres on the bench. This idea of playing the players out of position to fit them on the pitch its nonsense
Denmark is better than people are giving them credit for. At the same time, how difficult was it for the Danish to strategise against a slow, side-passing team with no pace, no left-hand side and an entirely predictable game plan?
I can't understand why this is so difficult. Pick people who actually know their positions to solve obvious deficiencies. We're not stretching play, so get Gordon on the left and if Kane can't make it work with him and Saka, then use Watkins instead or play Kane and Watkins together and change formation. At 10 play a 10 - Foden (in the right position...) or Palmer. At the base of midfield Rice and Bellingham and if you need to change that if one or other is terrible ( like yesterday) use Wharton or Mainoo or Gallagher. It's been awful but it seems obvious why. The only fix that seems difficult is at left back where we don't have a fit natural left back.
The only actual LW is Gordon and possibly Eze but doesn't start either of them....not even Palmer gets game time but brings on Bowen and wonders why it's going wrong
It’s always the same thing trying to play the biggest names instead of selecting the best team. Bring Foden in the centre as a no 10 and play Gordon on the left drop Bellingham to a no 8 where he can go forward and help Rice out. I also think you have to drop Kane and start Watkins and if we need a goal bring on Kane It’s crazy in my opinion to be experimenting with Trent in midfield it doesn’t work. If he has to miss out so be it it’s about playing the best team.
England would be top 8 teams if they can pass the ball into the penalty area. Phil Foden shot long. He would be hero if he luckily scored. Unfortunately, it basically missed valuable opportunities like many mediocre teams tend to shoot whenever they got open. They can't go far when shoot at low probability.
Noone talks about replacing Rice! He is great for Arsenal, but way too negative for England and had a terrible game. He must move forward, we dont need 5 defenders!
It's a disgrace you all call Trent out and southgates a disgrace. Trent was our most productive midfielder, Rice was way to far back and hiding, Bellingham was useless. Trent was the one making the best passes and looking the most comfortable on the ball.
Kane's goalscoring is mainly from crosses into the box. Nothing's coming in from the left! So NUMBER 1 PRIORITY ... put a left winger there. Gordon can do it, maybe Palmer. Foden likes to operate right across the field behind the striker. So put him behind Kane. These are the obvious changes. Trent doesn't have enough experience as a midfielder. So (sorry) he must be replaced. The only option then if you want to keep Bellingham is to put him next to Rice. Finally ... Tripper must be prepared to underlap or overlap the left winger. I don't care if he left-foots it into row Z when he crosses. Create a problem for the opposition. If you play Mainoo next to Rice you have to drop Foden. It's a possibility. Oh, and they have to rehearse the forward press ...
Trent comes out Bellingham goes as a 8, Rice sits and Foden plays as 10 and then Gordon on the left something i personally would like to see and think it would work. But that’s my opinion and that’s all we have. Southgate has to get it right next game because we look flat and very negative with and without the ball the lack of pressing is shocking, especially with most of these players doing it week in week out its no existent for England. Still believe we will get it right 🤞🏻🏴
I'd back that one. It would work better than what we have at present and Kane gets supply from the left. If we're getting roasted by the opposition's high pressing we'll need Mainoo to get us out from the back. I'm afraid we'd have to lose Foden then.
People seem to ignore the fact that Bellingham played well surrounded by Kroos, Vini, Rodrygo. Foden plays well woth KDB, Rodri, Haaland. Kane scored goals with Sane, Musiala. Bellingham didnt win the champions league on his own, to the amazement of some people. We don't have a balanced squad. We've thrown lego bricks at a dart board and wondered why we didn't hit a 180
To try to get Bellingham and Foden playing in the same team is to have Bellingham in an 8. go Bellingham/Rice Foden Gordon Saka Kane (if fit) If it then doesn't work then change it but at least try it.
(my opinion) > 3-1-4-2 formation just like 2018. 3 CBs Stones, Guehi, Walker, Gallagher (Henderson type, energy, maintains posession), wing backs Alex Arnold and Tripper (Arnold awful in double pivot, play to his strengths, attacking and wipping in crosses), 2 CAMS Jude and Foden/Palmer, 2 attackers Kane and Saka, Saka keeps the opposing CBs further back due to his speed (similar to what Sterling did), Kane can peel off to receive ball which plays to his strengths. Southgate unfortunately will not change system - he will just change the players and results will stay the same. Still predict Quarter Finals and maybe a cheeky Semi, but not well received.
So why, if the defence had dropped more than 10m back, did Southgate just stand there with his arms folded chewing gum and do absolutely nothing to push them forward? Why did he say nothing to Kane for dropping too deep, when we could all see what was happening? Why? Because he lacks vision in tactics and strategy as the game progresses but freezes when needing to make a decision. It's been the same since we lost in the World Cup to Croatia, to Netherlands in the Nations League semis, to Italy in the Euros Final, to France in the WC Quarters, and now in this Euros.
It would be ok to play a low block if we had the players to counter attack. Only player in the fron 3 that fits that system is Saka and Foden if he plays trough the middle.
No point Southgate taking the squad he has and then not trusting the majority of the squad and sticking with “tried and tested”. The performance against Denmark was embarrassing
Rice is an 8, not an effective passer from 6 through the lines. Trent doesn’t play short passes through the lines either. He likes to play longer passes. England need to play Mainoo or Wharton deeper than Rice and drop Trent for one of them. Gordon would hold the width better on the left and run in behind and give more space for Bellingham and Kane to drop into the half spaces they like. Walker needs to run the overlap more. To free up Saka to run inside as he likes to do. He keeps being left with two players to beat.
Mainstream media is useless!!! You don’t have to upset anyone, just play them in the positions they play at their clubs….. Goodness take a look at the heat maps, super simple, Jude left alongside Declan, Jude has a massive left side bias, Phil on the centre right he has a right side bias. Both have to do their defensive work. Gordon on the LW for pace and natural width. This is SOOOOO simple!!!
Why will Bellingham "obviously stay in the team" he had a bad game against Denmark, he has made dumb choices to get glory instead of making an easy pass, and he can do defensive work if he puts his ego aside. He has to play deeper and move Foden in, but this rhetoric of Bellingham's a must is destroying the England balance.
Why don’t we just play a 4-3-3 with Bellingham the mean cm, foden to the left. Then on the wings saka on right. Also gives us an option to bring in someone like palmer or someone like that on left wing. Surely we would be a lot better playing with that??
Yes let Trent play the way he plays. Either right wing back or inverted full back. Sorry you have to drop Walker. Gomez at left back. Midfield Wharton Rice Bellingham. Forwards Foden Watkins Saka 13:38
Pickford TAA Walker Stones Guehi Shaw/Gordon Bellingham Wharton Rice Foden Kane Experimental but would be nice to see Gordon up and down the flank with his natural pressing and work rate. Wharton would sit, allowing Rice more freedom. Kane should finally receive crosses from TAA, so would stay up and not need to drop deep.

Southgate is Gary's friend. Gary is too spineless to hold him fully accountable

Rice, Bellingham, Foden, Gordon, Saka, Kane. Its not difficult 😂
Can Palmer not play on the left? I would take him over Gordon. Rest I agree with.
Who of those played well? Gordon, sure, to fix the left, but I don't have confidence that the established names can get the job done.
You are bang on the money Rica Bellingham foden midfield a blind man can see same with gordan we've zero width down the left
Gary Neville such a successful manager himself! 🤦🏼♀️
💯. How can he give any advice on management? He's as bad as Southgate
We have a manager who is incapable of finding footballing solutions. You can see him on the touch line crossing his toes that someone will have an individual moment of brilliance to get us over the line, as he has absolutely no idea how to adapt his team either before or during the game

People don’t like to hear this but there’s a lot of conflicting statements from the analysts.
According to everyone on TV and radio there are 8 midfielders and forwards who “have to play”
Could we go to a 4-3-3 system as most players play in this system for their clubs🤔
Gordon needs to have a go on the left for a start, we need more width.
We play 4-3-3 you plonker
Vested interests and relationships.
Let's leave the moles out of it, hey? They're probably not keen on being linked to the England football team. As if being blind isn't enough already.
I would love the day Garry gets off the broadcast chair and actually has a go at managing an actual team, again.
Gary Neville is a lovely man a real English gentleman I could listen to him all day he is a lovely boy
Get Palmer on
What was wrong with Rico Henry, Mitchell or Chillwell? Not taking a leftback is on Southgate.
When he took Luke Shaw that should’ve been warning signs and time for people to take GS to task
What would Keir Starmer do? 😂
Vote Reform. 🇬🇧
If there was a free kick, he wouldn't be in the wall. He'd be sitting on the fence
Play Dianne Abbott as a 10 .

A fourth placed party? No wonder England can't win.
Good international managers know how to pick the best team to win. The bad ones pick the best players and shove them on a pitch and hope they win
Bet you Gary won't send his CV when Southgate leaves but apparently he knows better😅
Formation: 443 attacking with attacking wing backs.
Assuming that the formation allow England a lot more time on the ball, playing higher up the pitch pinning our opponents back I would play..
Pickford
TTA Guehi Stones Walker
rice
Bellingham Foden
Saka kane Bowen
Points of discussion, tripper on the left is dead, Completely kills his passing game and for me makes him a dormant player just sort of there not offering much to the team at all.
Midfield 3: putting a end to the whole debate of how can we get them all playing where there effective. this formation allows them all to play where there know
Rice 6
Bellingham 8(box to box)
Yes he’s been 10 for Madrid but plays 8 just as well and allows foden to be central 10
(Such a strong midfield 3 by the way)
Finally front three: Saka and kane pick there self but a harry kane who don’t just sit and wait at the top of the pitch, let’s take advantage of his link up with wingers and foden
This leave the LW position open for actually winger who can hold more of the width like Saka stretching the defence and linking up with the attacking wing backs. I would personally play Bowen. But honestly I think they is 4 names you could argue could start here so each to there own.
English fans need to calm down. They don't have a God given right to win every match. They played poor but still came away with a draw and are two points clear at the top of the group. Just calm down!!!
It's the style of football that is frustrating not the results easily the worst team to watch this euros
The problem everyone can see is Southgate doesn’t want to upset any of the players play them in there proper positions
Southgate needs to change it up otherwise we can forget it. Give Palmer and Gordon a run out and Drop Kane to the bench for Watkins
Both trash
It's not the players? Yeah, cause they overwhelmed us with their skill, speed, passing, energy and decision-making. They are alleged to be world-class, but when the opposition punches them in the face, their class and plans go up in smoke.
. Kane
Foden - Saka
Trippier - Bellingham - Rice - TAA
Guehi - Stones - Walker
Pickford
Drop Kane, Foden and play Watkins and Gordon.
I think he's got to change the formation a bit
3-3-2-2
Pickford
Walker-Guehi-Stones
Trent-Rice-Gordon
Bellingham-Foden
Kane-Watkins
Back-3 will be strong.
SINCE THE WORLD CUP 1986 I’VE NEVER SEEN A MANAGER THAT PLAY 3 RIGHTS BACKS IN THEIR STARTING 11
HE DIDNT EVEN TAKE 1 FULLY FIT LEFT BACK
HOW ????
LUKE SHAW SHOULD NOT BE NOWHERE NEAR THE SQUAD
HE’S NOT FIT SIMPLE
PLAY YOUR BEST PLAYERS IN THEIR BEST POSITIONS
CHANGE IT IF IS NOT WORKING TILL YOU GET THE BALANCE RIGHT
"Other nations wouldn't do that" in regards to leaving Foden ot TAA out...
Typical British media not calling for the managers head instead the players🤦🏽♂️
Playing a true left winger (Gordon) is essential when we have a right sided left back that offers no width. Play the world-class misfiring Foden where he wants to be as a 10. Play the "best player in the world" (Bellingham) in his favourite position as an 8. If Foden doesn't work, replace with Palmer at 60 mins.
Gary’s capping on the TTA take, he just couldn’t say Walker’s the number one lol
Trent won't be getting into the world cup squad under a new manager. Reese james is no 1 when fit.
SACK SOUTHGATE RIGHT NOW!!!

Solution is not difficult:
Pickford
Trent Walker Stones Gomez
Rice Mainoo/Wharton
Saka Bellingham Gordon
Kane
When attacking turns into 3 at the back like City/Liverpool play.
Man said 'Gareth should do something more stark'😂😂😂😂
If only the media and supporters would get behind the team things may have gone different for England….
Love Listening Gary.! The busiest man in Football 😂
Neville being very diplomatic and nice. Just say it Gary…..it was shocking , and other lesser teams have already sorted this sort of stuff out.
It’s always the same thing trying to play the biggest names instead of selecting the best team.
Bring Foden in the centre as a no 10 and play Gordon on the left drop Bellingham to a no 8 where he can go forward and help Rice out.
I also think you have to drop Kane and start Watkins and if we need a goal bring on Kane
It’s crazy in my opinion to be experimenting with Trent in midfield it doesn’t work.
Exactly !
There is a great German word for the English performance: „pomadig“ which means „In a blasé way“…😂
Means greasy
I wonder if Gary could tell us how many decent teams in Southgate reign we have beaten, I can't think of any, answers on a postcard
Give Gareth a life time contract i think he is doing a great job
How are your lot getting on ? I couldn't find your lot in the groups
Gary was the head coach when Iceland beat them...least we forget
No he wasn’t
If Southgate was an artist, he'd be using crayons. While others would be painting with a brush.
England just needs a good coach. No one don't want to call out Southgate .
Need to get Wharton in for control in midfield and Gordon on left to get in behind defence
Come on let's give Southgate a break, he's clearly pining for Kalvin Phillips, bless him.
Former ex England international playing for the national team previously to now
I lost interest when he claimed Alexander-Arnold is a generational talent 😏
He is not a generational talent…he just has a good right foot
The other teams know not to keep kicking it long, and they know not to sit back that way, they learn that when they are 2
Rice is an 8, not an effective passer from 6 through the lines.
Personally, I'd play 6 Goalkeepers and 5 Defenders. Southgate isn't cautious enough for my liking.
Why don’t we just play a 4-3-3 with Bellingham the mean cm, foden to the left. Then on the wings saka on right. Also gives us an option to bring in someone like palmer or someone like that on left wing. Surely we would be a lot better playing with that??
Drop Saka, play Palmer, drop Foden, play Gordon, Drop Kane, play Watkins, switch Trent to LB, play Mainoo
Yes let Trent play the way he plays. Either right wing back or inverted full back. Sorry you have to drop Walker. Gomez at left back. Midfield Wharton Rice Bellingham. Forwards Foden Watkins Saka
13:38
Pickford
TAA Walker Stones Guehi Shaw/Gordon
Bellingham Wharton Rice
Foden
Kane
Experimental but would be nice to see Gordon up and down the flank with his natural pressing and work rate. Wharton would sit, allowing Rice more freedom. Kane should finally receive crosses from TAA, so would stay up and not need to drop deep.
