Obviously, if Ron has his wand facing Aragog, he casts the slug belching curse in one of the spiders, distracting them all with easier food enough for them to get away.
Assuming Ron’s wand was loyal to him (as it belonged to Charlie previously), it’s also possible for his wand to refuse Lockhart’s spell against its master Ron and backfire onto Lockhart, which would allow the rest of the original story to transpire lol
@@alexanderzack3720 not necessarily. A wand is not always so fickle that it’d change allegiance by a simple disarming spell. If that was the case, Ron wouldn’t after a wand after DA practice with Hermione lol. The elder wand swayed when Dumbledore was severely weakened and Draco was at worst emotionally.
@@twoankles and swapped again when harry ripped wand out of draco´s hand... the elder wand wasn´t even close by. my guess why practising the disarming spell in class or the DA doesn´t do that is: the other party doesn´t take the wand and gives it right back. both go into that szenaria EXPECTING that you get disarmed (similar to what dumbledore tried the "not fighting back" part)
@@alexanderzack3720 That’s entirely possible and I do not deny Lockhart could have won such allegiance, I don’t assume so as such formality is not necessary in determining a wand’s loyalty. After all, in the famous words of Ollivander, the wand chooses the wizard.
Seeing that clip of Malfoy made me wonder: Why didn’t Lucius tell him it was Hagrid that got expelled? You’d think he’d be happy to tell him how a half-breed got kicked out of Hogwarts.
It could have harmed Voldemort's future plans for the Chamber. Dumbledore already believed in Hagrid's innocence, he was just not in a position to save him from being expelled. However, as Headmaster, he would do everything to prove his innocence and would likely start an investigation. Hagrid's framing was highly illogical, ad if Dumbledore finds out what the key is to unleash the Basilisk, even if he can't find the entrance itself, would cause serious challenges when Voldemort wants to open it again.
I mean, Malfoy really wants to help the heir. Obviously idolizing and giving them hero worship even without knowing who they are. What do you think would happen if Malfoy learned that the half-breed giant who is an abomination even worse than a mud blood is actually the individual who he wants to help and considers to be a hero. I think that would be something Lucious wouldn't want his son to know.
@@trevorritzke2099 Good point. Although that’s assuming that Lucius actually believed it was Hagrid who opened the Chamber and didn’t know that Voldemort was the true heir of Slytherin. That seems like something Voldemort would brag to his Death Eaters about, especially the one he entrusted the diary to.
This also means that, if Harry and Ron had simply waited next to the car for Ron's parents to return (instead of taking the car), the same thing would have happened: Ron's wand would not have been broken, the Ford Anglia would not have roamed the Forest, and Voldemort would have won...
@@mienfu9824 Surely you're joking. She had no way of knowing that, she only knew that Harry and Ron had almost died and gotten Arthur in a great deal of trouble at work.
So Dobby would not have been freed. Even if Rons wand snapped in the forest, so it still backfires on Lockhart, Harry and Dobby would only meet for the first time when Dobby comes to Hogwarts with Lucius Malfoy. He would be a weird thing with big eyes and ears, wildly gesturing and Harry would just think, that Dobby is a curious creature, not understanding anything or even knowing of house elves.
And it goes even deeper: Harry never meets Dobby, He never frees him from the Malfoys. And Dobby wont rescue Harry and His Friends from Malfoys Mansion. If He even gets to this Point.😅
To add to that: Harry wouldn‘t know anything about handling a house-elf which in turn would have a massive impact on Harry‘s relationship with Kreacher
Harry might very well drown attempting the second Triwizard Task (he's going to try if he thinks he needs to save Ron and Hermione even if he has no idea how to do it) if Barty Crouch Jr can't come up with another backup plan. He won't find out about the Room of Requirement, and so the DA is probably either discovered early on or never really gets off the ground. This results in Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Neville, Luna, and several other characters lacking critical skills, more than likely getting at least one of them killed if they still go to the Department of Mysteries, and greatly increasing the chance that they will die in the final book. Potentially, Harry and/or other DA members are expelled from Hogwarts (this could potentially get reversed the next year, though). And, of course, as already said, no Dobby significantly impacts how Harry handles the Kreacher situation, and no Dobby means no rescue from Malfoy Manor. So basically, Prisoner of Azkaban is the ONLY book where Harry isn't screwed without Dobby there.
The only reason they let Harry stay at the Burrow in Goblet of Fire is because Harry threatened to tell Sirius he was being mistreated. The Dursleys still believe Sirius is a murderer, Harry "conveniently" forgot to tell them he was innocent. Edit: I get the point! The Durselys don't know Harry can't do magic, now will you all shut up about it
Well I'm not sure that was the ONLY reason - I mean he DOES have that internal battle J was talking about, and I think possibly the thought of saying no to Mr Weasly may have had the same effect on Uncle Vernon that Sirius does
Plus if the Dursleys are going to Spain then Harry will need a place to stay cause they don't wanna take him or leave him home alone Oh and plus I guess whether he stays with them or not doesn't make a huge difference, I think we can pretty safely assume that he reaches the train at the same time as them anyway cause that's what happens first year
Actually I imagine Lockhart would need to cast "obligate" twice, once for Ron and once for Harry. In which case, if he starts with Ron, Harry might at least be able to save himself by disarming Lockhart and then knocking him out. Harry would then go and save Ginny and once Harry explains to Dumbledore what happened, Lockhart would get arrested and Ron would be sent to St Mungo's.
Well... For one thing it's "OBLIVIATE" not "obligate" and for another thing... I doubt the wand would have actually worked. Remember that according to Ollivander 'the wand chooses the wizard.' On that note, I seriously doubt that a wand that had only served the Weasleys who were all kind, honest, loyal and brave would switch allegiance to someone who is a fraud, sly and cunning like Lockhart. It just... doesn't make sense.
@@alinamagda2547 The wand worked in removing Lockhart's memories so I see no reason why it couldn't work on Harry and Ron. I guess it is possible that if the wand had chosen Ron (which it hadn't as it was a hand-me-down), then perhaps it might have refused to obliviate Ron and only worked on Harry.
Idea: Harry in Slytherin, Neville in Gryffindor, Hermione in Ravenclaw, Ron in Hufflepuff. It would be so cool to see all the houses coming together to destroy Voldy Baldy…
@@simpformorralygreypeople yes, but mind you: ALL the Weasleys had been in Griffindor for GENERATIONS, just like the Malfoys have ALWAYS been in Slytherin.
Yes it does. Without the 1st time meeting then the bond between Harry and dobby is established for the future. Which means when the trio is captured in the forest they cant call him to help them escape.
Not only could he call kreacher, but also Harry’s not the one who calls dobby in the first place, aberforth is. Also I feel like the story might be a lot more interesting if when we see dobby at Malfoy manner he’s still owned by the Malfoys, and has an inner turmoil between his wizard family and his loyalty to the one who made the dark lord go away for the first time
@@gingersnap8543When in Deathly Hallows Dobby comes to rescue them, he is not owned by Malfoys. Harry tricks Lucius into freeing Dobby at the end of CoS itself. After that Dobby had been working at Hogwarts (taking salary and all). He went to rescue Harry because he thought of him as a friend.
Idea: What if Harry went to the Yule Ball with Ginny instead of Parvati Edit: Or maybe ‘What if Peter never became friends with the rest of the marauders’
I thought that was part of another theory vid they did. I'm suddenly not remembering any more and could be making it up, but wasn't there a theory on all 7 years or something. Idk someone else knows lol
If Harry and Ron escape the spiders there is no reason why Harry couldn't beat Lockhart down in the chamber knocking him into the wall and causing the cave in same as in the original story. With the added bonus that Lockhart gets to answer for his crimes.
Great video as always. Here's my own what if to grease the gears of creativity: what if Hermione was sorted into Ravenclaw? She was almost (or is, I don't remember) a hatstall between that and Gryffindor. In the end the hat lead her one way, but what if it led to another? Onto a path where she might not even befriend the other two of the trio in the first place? Though I do admit Flitwick's class on Halloween was left ambiguous in the movies it was with Slytherin so there's a good chance the event that sends her off on the night of the troll attack just never even happens. Just an idea, because throughout all the years Hermione is a constant and present aid to the trio. Without her, what could happen?
Assuming harry and ron survived up to the 3 year (which i belive its true thanks to some damb luck, i can elaborate) and assuming hermione still get the time turner in the third year (reasonable assumption) this is what will happen In cannon, what happened is that dambledor saw harry cast a patronus to save himself, realised there was a time travel, realised sirius was innocent and thought of his plan The exact same thing will happen here too, and because hermione is the only student with a time turner he will explain her the situation and ask for her help and she will agree Now if a single troll was enough to make them friends, a full time travel adventure will also be enough Now in the 4 year, haery will probably visit the ravenclaw common room a lot when he has his fight with ron, so he will see thestatue with the diadem so he may will recognize and destroy the diadem in the 6 year when he find it If he do that, it will make a huge diffrent and prevent the entire battle of hogwarts, what will happened instead ? I can only guess
There was no hatstall for Hermione. She said the hat did consider her for Ravenclaw, but in the end chose her to go to Gryffindor. A hat stall only occurs when the hat takes more than 5 minutes to place you. And by book, and movie accounts, she wasn't under the hat very long.
I don’t think the horcrux inside of Harry would have let him die to spideys. Likely he would have produced some sort of OP magic like golden flames to save himself when near death. The only reason the basilisk venom would have killed him without Fawks intervention is because that destroys horcruxes. Every other time he’s been in real life or death situations his wand has produced a McMuffin to save him :3
@@thomaszielke866 Given its destroyed when Harry dies to a death curse, Harry dying otherwise would still destroy it. Thus why the soul fragment would likely defend itself in some way as the most plausible survival rote.
I'd be really surprised by Ron's ability to take down dozens of huge spiders without considering his phobia!!..I think it was better if a fantastic beast save them now that we are improvising
I agree, I don’t see any way for Harry and Ron to fight their way out of this. If the car wasn’t there, someone/thing else would have to save them. Most likely the centaurs, perhaps Firenze follows Harry through the forest and goes to get the others when he sees where he and Ron are going, allowing them to arrive in the nick of time for a rescue. Given there’s already centaur rescues in PS and OotP, it would be very repetitive!
But how does it effect the rest of the saga, like Harry never gets the gillyweed, they never find out about the room of requirement, and they never escape from Malfoy manor
There is no rest of the series unless there's some way to recover from magically induced memory loss, which as far as we know... there isn't. There's zero evidence to the contrary.
I think that the rest of the books wouldn’t happen as Voldemort returns two years earlier and then successfully takes over without Harry too stop him because he is spider food/mindless
I understand your question. Maybe with the horcrux in Harry destroyed by either spiders or Voldemort, the prophecy is broken and dumbledore is free to try take down Voldemort himself. Would he find all the horcruxes? Would he succeed? What about Sirius in Azkaban? Peter/scabbers? Snape? I know what you wanna hear
I’d love to see a theory on what if Harry and Ron decided not to be friends with Hermione. Her character provides so much exposition and moves the plot forward on many occasions.
I saw a comment on another video suggesting: what if Hermione had been killed by the troll in book 1? I always thought that would be awesome to tackle, but it might be too much.
Because she lets them copy her notes and homework, I think it would force them to become better students. But Harry would probably get stuck at the Potions Riddle.
@@staticradio724 Honestly you don't have to kill her, just have her sorted into Ravenclaw, where surrounded by people intellectually tilted like her, she'd have a circle of friends, and thus is unlikely to interact with Harry and Ron, which honestly nobody gets the stone then. In that case, ironically Quirell remains possessed and the DADA teacher in year two, or Dumbledore just turns him in to prove Voldermort "survived". Hmmm.... not really one of their usual ones that sticks near the script, but that would be an interesting timeline, of what happens if nobody gets to the stone.
Ron uses "Lumos Maxima" on the spiders, and with how scared he is, it is to powerful and damages his wand just enough that when Lockhart tries to memory wipe them it backfires on him.
@@zbanul10 Also, the Longbottoms would be instrumental in the Second Wizarding War. Plus they might have caught Lucious Malfoy trying to slip the horcrux diary into Ginny's cauldron and thrwarted that plan.
But what if the Order of the Phoenix had figured out the easiest and safest way to get Harry out of Privet Drive was for Dobby to take him? Also Dobby wouldn’t give Harry the Gillyweed in Goblet of Fire, since he wouldn’t be at Hogwarts. He might still rescue them in Deathly Hallows, since he would still be a slave. If they had somehow managed to survive with their minds.
Given it was a set up by Barty Croutch Jr, he would have found another way to get Harry what he needs, since the plan falls apart if Harry starts so far behind he can't win the maze, or outright performs so poorly the professors decide by the end even though he's "competing" Harry is to just sit at the start of the maze for his own safety.
Well, Aragog was obviously good to Hagrid, so he thought he would be the same to Ron and Harry. I’m sure he’d be upset if Ron and Harry told him what the spiders tried to do.

A scenario I think would be interesting is "What if Harry got the dementor's kiss in OOTP?" I wonder how dumbledore would react to harry, dudley and probably mrs figg getting the dementor's kiss
@@alexanderzack3720Actually OOTP members were keeping watch on Harry secretly all the summer. That day it was Mundungus Fletcher's turn, who I don't remember exactly went to purchase some free cupcakes or something. Mrs Figg mentions to Harry that she would complain to Dumbledore about this.
Vernon's drill deal is almost definitely for exclusive supplier rights for a construction company rather than a single sale to an individual. I can't imagine a sinlge person spending enough on drills for themselves to justify buying a second house in a different country, but I can see it if it's for a company that might need hundreds of drills and drill accessories.
I think the horcrux inside harry would have protected him, similar to how he produced golden flames to block Voldemort’s killing curse while unconscious in the battle of the seven potters. This comes from Ben’s theory of the golden flames, I understand that dumbledore tells harry that his wand did this because of the graveyard battle but I prefer the explanation that the horcrux is protecting itself when presented with certain death. (This doesn’t happen when harry sacrifices himself in the battle of hog warts because he is not holding his wand)
Or what if Buckbeak comes to their rescue and flys them out of there, that would also set up Harry seeing Buckbeak later in PoA and why he is willing to let Harry ride him again.
6:42 The reason Vernon agreed to let Harry go with the Weasleys to the Quidditch World Cup was because Harry threatened to let Sirius know he was being mistreated, and Vernon believed Sirius was a mass murderer at the time and agreed out of fear. In second year, Harry lacks that trump card and Vernon wouldn’t let him go. He didn’t even let Harry go to Hogwarts at first in the first book. To Vernon, keeping Harry unhappy and away from magic is more important than sending Harry away.
Here's an interesting Harry Potter What If, "What If Dudley was also a wizard?". Also I would want to know "What if Dudley and Harry were childhood friends/acted like an older brother to Harry?"
Was listening to the chamber of secrets the other day on audiobook and love your what if scenario videos. At the beginning of the book she almost forgets her diary at home instead of taking it to school. This leads to one of a few scenarios where she forgets all about it due to the excitement of the first year of school: She takes it to school with her on one of the other years after finding it whilst tidying her bedroom. I think prisoner of Azkaban makes the most sense but goblet of fire would be just as crazy ( and my favourite).
It's pretty ironic that ron in Chamber of secrets is more useful with his wand broken than the other way around 😅 But I think that even with a working wand, Harry could have the time to stupefy Lockhart, even if Ron got his memory removed, or if Lockhart use the spell on Harry I think Ron could like run on Lockhart and trying to beat him in muggle duel or try to take his wand back or Harry's wand and Can sort of still save Ginny
I was thinking the same thing! It's two against one and there's no mention of Harry not having his wand. Lockhart gives him plenty of time to cast a protego on him and Ron and disarm Lockhart because Lockhart doesn't perform the memory charm on the boys right away. No, he has to explain what he is about to do and why which would give Harry enough time to curse him. Just plain dumb 🤦. I often wonder why the bad guy feels the need to tell instead of show wasting time and getting caught.😱😂
@@hairbear28 yeah true I completly forgot protego doesn't work on unforgivable curses only and that Harry now it in the second year to produce a protego
The Irony is I forgot about Lockhart's memory charm, so when you gave the outside chance that Harry and Ron survived Aragog, I thought that Harry would have no idea what Dobby was doing when pointing at the diary and Lucius Malfoy. it would have been a minor change but it would have meant Dobby wouldn't have been freed (assuming Harry even knew how).
In this case, Harry starts arguing with Arogog, but suddenly it’s in Parsel Tongue. Arogog realizes that he is the Heir of Slytherin, or so he thinks, and now knows that if for any reason the “Friend’s of Hagrid” don’t return to the castle, the Basilisk WILL COME LOOKING FOR THEM. 😎 “Children, calm yourself. Good bye friends of Hagrid, take your leave and give Hagrid my best.” Harry and Ron depart, and Ron calls Harry out for being a Parsel mouth.
Ron survives because of a bezoar thanks to harry if slughorn doesn't have one in his supply he would die. Dumbledore had snape trying to figure out what draco was doing but draco was being secretive so it is possible he could accidentally kill the wrong person
@@alexpayne6753 Fair point. I feel like Dumbledore himself would have been more skeptical of any gifts given directly to himself, but yeah one ended up with Ron, so who knows....
Yeah im imagining dracos Character changes significantly if he kills someone considering he lowers his wand leading to either snape managing to secretly kill Dumbledore post locket retrieval or more of a decent for draco in a in for a penny in for a pound moment and he kills Dumbledore
I think a good new what if after this would be What If Dobby Never Came To The Rescue In Malfoy Manor. Would Harry and his friends still live? How far was Draco willing to go to defy Voldy after refusing to identify Harry? (The easy way out of this is Kreacher saving them but I think that's a bit too easy, don't you?)
i´m not sure if at that point they even know that kreacher is still alive. remember they never came back to grimauld because hermione accidently "told" a deatheater the secret so they could enter the place. they probably expected the deatheaters to raid the place and kill kreacher who tried to defend the home
If dobby never interferes Harry and Ron are either eatan alive by giant spiders, or they're minds are erased, Voldemort comes back kills Harry.... Good job dobby?
He kinda did in the long run and he helped significantly in 7, once he was freed by Harry well in Dobby's interpretation Luscious, he was than free to do whatever he wanted from that point on, we just never got that perspective or story to what happened to him between 2 and his well you know. There is every possibility he was a guardian to Harry even if we didn't know it through the book/movie.
Superficially, yes. But I agree with the sentiment here. The car wouldn't be in the forest, which is the only reason they made it out, and Ron's wand wouldn't be broken, which was just rotten luck on Lockhart's part to grab that one.
8:38 Honestly that "you can have it downloaded before I'm done with this ad read" is a truly inspired endorsement. If I didn't already have it installed, that might've convinced me. :P
You forget that Ron's wand would be so weak by that point that it would barely work because then it would be a third generation wizard owner with that specific wand
I am surprised we are doing this one. Without Dobby, there would be no random cake dump, no bars on the windows, harry would be talking to his friends, no escape from locked room, Lucius Malfoy would have cursed Harry at the end of the Chamber, no locked metal gateway to the train, so no flying car, no Whomping Willow, no broken wand, no howler, no midnight meetings, no rescue from Malfoy Manner, he wouldn't have died, no Gillyweed.
Without Dobby having interfered, Harry wouldn't have tricked Lucius into freeing Dobby, if he'd even brought Dobby at all, (in part because he wouldn't have known how yet) so Lucius wouldn't have had any reason to try to curse Harry at the end.

I understand the spider and no car problem, but if Ron's wand isn't broken, he probably had at least a chance to be better in the dueling club, so giving him the benefit of the doubt seems reasonable, despite Lockheart's ineptitude.
You guys should do an expansion of this video, On what would happen if Riddle succeeded and drained Ginny's life. I think that young voldemort would actually be a far bigger threat than voldemort prime coming back. I believe that when someone creates a horcrux, They split their soul clean and half. Therefore, diary Riddle has the largest price of Voldemort's soul. This allows him to retain his human looks, which would allow him Recruit followers Much easier, And would just genuinely allow Him to Move unnoticed Is far more easily. There aren't very many people who knew him when he was younger and would recognize him.
Ehhh... Dobby seems genuinely loyal to Harry Potter multiple times throughout the series. And once he's already at the school, Dobby still visits him again. What would be their point in sending Dobby to the hospital wing in the middle of the night?
The only way I can think Harry and Ron get out of the spiders nest is if Harry uses the information that Aragog gives up about their species being terrified of basilisks/maybe snakes? He could’ve conjured a snake or used parseltounge to really freak Aragog and his spiderlings out.
The Hermione-Velociraptor mashed up had me dying! Great breakdown of a "What If". I'm really enjoying these. This proves Dobby is a true hero, too, so even more excellent.
Slightly alternate take. With you up until Aragog. I think that because Dumbledore knows that the Ford Anglia isn’t in the forest and he heard Hagrid tell them to follow the spiders, that he would still send either Fawkes or someone to save them last minute. Then, because Harry knows Ron’s wand isn’t broken, when Lockhart tries to attack, he disarms him post-monologue because that’s HIS signature spell, which he learned during dueling club earlier that year. And the rest of the story would play out as normal, but since Dobby hadn’t been freed yet and would still be at Malfoy Manor in book 7, that he would either physically attack Bellatrix to let them escape because HP is still a savior to him in his mind, OR that when the trio Apparate and Bellatrix throws the dagger, Ron dies instead of Dobby. Given how his death can kind of be foreshadowed throughout book 7. Maybe. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Maybe the reason that Harry and Ron don't do anything when Lockhart takes the wand originally is because they knew it wouldn't work so maybe in this new timeline they disarm him and he's just the only difference and then dobby doesn't get freed because there's no connection
Also, Colin wouldn’t have been prettified at all, since he was only going to the hospital wing to see Harry, so no Dobby means no Lockhart removing Harrys bones means no hospital wing for Harry and no Colin sneaking down to see him.
It just reinforces what I call the Law of Unintentional Consequences, which basically states that even the smallest of changes, whether on purpose or not, can have unintentional consequences.
This is a conversation i just had with chat GPT, mostly basic stuff but some interesting: Please provide a hypothetical response for how Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets would have gone if Dobby would have never got involved. Please also consider key details that would change such as the car not being in the forest, or Ron no longer having a broken wand, to determine how the story would now go. Without Dobby's involvement, several key events in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" would unfold differently. Let's explore how the story might change: 1. The Dobby Encounter: In the original story, Dobby warns Harry about the dangers of returning to Hogwarts and prevents him from going back by sealing the entrance to Platform 9¾. Without Dobby's intervention, Harry would board the Hogwarts Express as planned, and the Weasley family would meet him there. 2. The Flying Car: In the original story, Harry and Ron use Mr. Weasley's flying Ford Anglia to reach Hogwarts after missing the train. Without the car's involvement, Harry and Ron would have to find an alternative way to get to the school. They might decide to ask Mr. Weasley to Apparate them to Hogsmeade or arrange for a broomstick to borrow. 3. Ron's Broken Wand: In the original story, Ron's wand gets damaged during their flying car adventure. Without this problem, Ron's wand would remain intact, and he would not struggle with spellcasting throughout the year. 4. The Polyjuice Potion: In the story, Harry, Ron, and Hermione use the Polyjuice Potion to disguise themselves as Slytherin students in their quest to find the Heir of Slytherin. Without Dobby's warning, they might not even suspect the existence of the Chamber of Secrets or the need to brew Polyjuice Potion. The mystery surrounding the attacks might remain unsolved for a longer time. 5. Ginny's Involvement: In the original story, Dobby reveals that Ginny was the one opening the Chamber of Secrets under Tom Riddle's influence. Without this revelation, it would be challenging for Harry and his friends to identify the culprit behind the attacks. Ginny's role in the story might be substantially altered. 6. Tom Riddle's Diary: The diary plays a central role in the original story, acting as a vessel for Tom Riddle's memory and consciousness. Without Dobby's warning, Harry might never discover the diary's significance and its connection to the Chamber of Secrets. 7. The Final Showdown: In the original story, Dobby provides critical information to Harry about the Chamber of Secrets and leads him to its entrance. Without Dobby's assistance, Harry would have to find another way to uncover the Chamber's location and face the basilisk alone. In this hypothetical scenario, without Dobby's involvement, the story might have taken a slower pace, with Harry, Ron, and Hermione struggling to uncover the Chamber's secrets and the true identity of the Heir of Slytherin. The tension and suspense would likely intensify as the attacks continue to happen throughout the school year. Ultimately, the trio might still uncover the Chamber's location, but the path to get there and the challenges they face would be vastly different. The absence of the flying car and Ron's intact wand would also remove some of the humorous and action-packed moments from the story. Thank you, could you offer insight to how Harry & Ron might have survived the spiders without the flying car? Without the flying car, Harry and Ron would face a more challenging and perilous situation when encountering the spiders in the Forbidden Forest. Here's how they might have survived without the car: 1. Concealment and Caution: Harry and Ron would initially try to hide from the spiders, understanding that they are dangerous creatures. They would likely climb up a tree or take cover in dense foliage to avoid being detected. 2. Limited Movement: Without the car to aid them in escaping quickly, Harry and Ron would have to carefully navigate the forest on foot. They would move slowly and cautiously, trying to avoid attracting the spiders' attention. 3. Defensive Spells: Both Harry and Ron are wizards, so they would use defensive spells to protect themselves if the spiders get too close. Spells like "Stupefy" to stun the spiders temporarily or "Expelliarmus" to disarm them could be employed. 4. Strategic Retreat: If the situation becomes overwhelming and the spiders close in on them, Harry and Ron might decide to strategically retreat while still trying to maintain their distance from the arachnids. 5. Seeking Help: Harry and Ron might try to send a distress signal using their wands to shoot sparks into the sky, hoping someone in Hogwarts or the nearby areas would notice and come to their aid. 6. Allies in the Forest: The Forbidden Forest is home to many creatures, some of which may not be hostile to humans. Harry and Ron might come across creatures like unicorns or centaurs who could help them in some way, either by providing guidance or offering assistance against the spiders. 7. Time and Patience: If they can't find immediate help, Harry and Ron might have to wait for the right moment to make their escape. They would remain as patient as possible while devising a plan to exit the forest safely. 8. Heroic Rescue: Just as they did in the original story, Hagrid or another teacher might eventually come to their rescue, having realized that the boys are missing and went to search for them in the Forbidden Forest. Surviving the encounter with the spiders without the flying car would be a test of Harry and Ron's resourcefulness, bravery, and magical abilities. They would need to rely on their wits and work together to overcome the dangerous situation, making it a significant moment of growth and development for both characters.
What if Harry had fully closed the door of the Vanishing Cabinet in Borgin and Burkes? Would it have worked, would he and Ron have used it to travel to Hogwarts after missing the train and how does knowing about the pair of Vanishing Cabinets affect the plot of Half-Blood Prince?
I didn't consider all of the things that Dobby had put into place in "The Chambers of Secrets". I love this thought provoking video so thank you very very much!!!!
Well for a start there's no way Dumbledore believes Lockhart, he already knows he's a fraud. He'd be interrogated, his wand would be forced to repeat its previous spells, etc. Lockhart would have as “Moody” said “A one way ticket to Azkaban!” I think it's also pretty likely that Dumbledore risks the dangerous use of time-turners to undo any situation in which Harry dies, there's just no way he allows Voldemort to win… even if it involves creating a new timeline.

Assuming Ron’s wand was loyal to him (as it belonged to Charlie previously), it’s also possible for his wand to refuse Lockhart’s spell against its master Ron and backfire onto Lockhart, which would allow the rest of the original story to transpire lol
but lockhart would have won alegience of the wand, since he disarmed it from ron, similar how harry won over the death wand from malfoy
Taking a wand physically transfers allegiance as seen in the deathly hallows
Because he was just giving up the diary without knowing what it was. Don’t you remember, had he known what he had he’d never have given it up.
At least Lucius didn't give the diary to Draco or Ginny while knowing that it was a horcrux.
This also means that, if Harry and Ron had simply waited next to the car for Ron's parents to return (instead of taking the car), the same thing would have happened: Ron's wand would not have been broken, the Ford Anglia would not have roamed the Forest, and Voldemort would have won...
So Molly basically sent a howler to Ron for doing something that saved both his and Harry's life. What a terrible mother!
@@mienfu9824 Surely you're joking. She had no way of knowing that, she only knew that Harry and Ron had almost died and gotten Arthur in a great deal of trouble at work.
Basically 😅
@@TheKabuto90 Sending a howler at all to publicly humiliate your son isn't being a good mother.
If they’d just sent Harry’s owl like the teachers suggested the same would’ve happened… preteen stupidity saved their lives
When I first saw the title of this video my immediate thought was that Harry and Ron would be spider food. Dobby was so inadvertently helpful.
That was my exact thought too. Dobby was extremely important to the story because he saved Harry's life inadvertently.
Same😊
If Ron had his wand in the forest, he could make the spiders "eat slugs", which is kind of the perfect defense in that moment.
except, at best, he can do that one spider at a time. they are both dead before ron curses a dozen of them
So Dobby would not have been freed.
And it goes even deeper:
Harry never meets Dobby, He never frees him from the Malfoys.
And Dobby wont rescue Harry and His Friends from Malfoys Mansion.
If He even gets to this Point.😅
To add to that: Harry wouldn‘t know anything about handling a house-elf which in turn would have a massive impact on Harry‘s relationship with Kreacher
Funny how the whole plot would just fall without dobby, while harry thought his idea of saving him is killing him
Harry might very well drown attempting the second Triwizard Task (he's going to try if he thinks he needs to save Ron and Hermione even if he has no idea how to do it) if Barty Crouch Jr can't come up with another backup plan.
What if Dumbledore never heard the prophecy and still thought it was down to him to take down Voldemort?

The only reason they let Harry stay at the Burrow in Goblet of Fire is because Harry threatened to tell Sirius he was being mistreated. The Dursleys still believe Sirius is a murderer, Harry "conveniently" forgot to tell them he was innocent.
Edit: I get the point! The Durselys don't know Harry can't do magic, now will you all shut up about it

@@samstromberg5593 Doubt it.
Yes, Vernon had the internal debate but it was Harry using Sirius as a threat that made Vernon come to a conclusion.
Plus if the Dursleys are going to Spain then Harry will need a place to stay cause they don't wanna take him or leave him home alone
Oh and plus I guess whether he stays with them or not doesn't make a huge difference, I think we can pretty safely assume that he reaches the train at the same time as them anyway cause that's what happens first year

@@samstromberg5593 Oh, if they're going to Spain, definitely
Actually I imagine Lockhart would need to cast "obligate" twice, once for Ron and once for Harry. In which case, if he starts with Ron, Harry might at least be able to save himself by disarming Lockhart and then knocking him out. Harry would then go and save Ginny and once Harry explains to Dumbledore what happened, Lockhart would get arrested and Ron would be sent to St Mungo's.
I think he would start with Harry, because he had his wand...
@@bennysundance175 I don't think Lockhart was that intelligent.
Which then means Ron can't save Harry from drowning in book seven

Yes it does. Without the 1st time meeting then the bond between Harry and dobby is established for the future. Which means when the trio is captured in the forest they cant call him to help them escape.
I think in this video they were only talking about the chamber of secrets since he is important in deathly hallows
Ye duh they specify that
He could call Kreacher

If Harry and Ron escape the spiders there is no reason why Harry couldn't beat Lockhart down in the chamber knocking him into the wall and causing the cave in same as in the original story.
With the added bonus that Lockhart gets to answer for his crimes.

I’m glad Dobby was added to the story. He was a great elf.
A great and 𝕗𝕣𝕖𝕖 elf
I really like this idea. It would be cool if the Carlin Bros. pursued it.
Ooh that would be interesting 😮.
Assuming harry and ron survived up to the 3 year (which i belive its true thanks to some damb luck, i can elaborate) and assuming hermione still get the time turner in the third year (reasonable assumption) this is what will happen
In cannon, what happened is that dambledor saw harry cast a patronus to save himself, realised there was a time travel, realised sirius was innocent and thought of his plan
The exact same thing will happen here too, and because hermione is the only student with a time turner he will explain her the situation and ask for her help and she will agree
Now if a single troll was enough to make them friends, a full time travel adventure will also be enough
Now in the 4 year, haery will probably visit the ravenclaw common room a lot when he has his fight with ron, so he will see thestatue with the diadem so he may will recognize and destroy the diadem in the 6 year when he find it
If he do that, it will make a huge diffrent and prevent the entire battle of hogwarts, what will happened instead ? I can only guess
@@bluelemon243 A Hermione that was never friends with Ron and Harry is NOT going to break Wizarding Law just on a rushed explanation
Every other time he’s been in real life or death situations his wand has produced a McMuffin to save him :3
Yes that is one possibility that is some way the Horcrux acts like the others and protects itself.
Ooh, this actually spawned a question for me. Presuming Harry and Ron get eaten by acromantulas, does the spare piece of Voldemort’s soul exist?

Have you not seen the entire video? Harry is either dead or mindless and voldemort is back in book 2. Asking what about the gillyweed is pointless

@@staticradio724 I think that was me. I still support it.
Because she lets them copy her notes and homework, I think it would force them to become better students.

@@staticradio724 Honestly you don't have to kill her, just have her sorted into Ravenclaw, where surrounded by people intellectually tilted like her, she'd have a circle of friends, and thus is unlikely to interact with Harry and Ron, which honestly nobody gets the stone then. Hmmm.... not really one of their usual ones that sticks near the script, but that would be an interesting timeline, of what happens if nobody gets to the stone.
Ron uses "Lumos Maxima" on the spiders, and with how scared he is, it is to powerful and damages his wand just enough that when Lockhart tries to memory wipe them it backfires on him.

I think this is specifically just the second book
@@snippydaturtle *Especiallly if they don't even survive the second book.*

This comes from Ben’s theory of the golden flames, I understand that dumbledore tells harry that his wand did this because of the graveyard battle but I prefer the explanation that the horcrux is protecting itself when presented with certain death.

I was thinking the same thing! It's two against one and there's no mention of Harry not having his wand. Lockhart gives him plenty of time to cast a protego on him and Ron and disarm Lockhart because Lockhart doesn't perform the memory charm on the boys right away. It's explained well in Dumbledore's Big Plan - Prisoner of Azkaban. If Harry gets eaten by the spiders, both Harry and the horcrux inside him would die.*
I understand the spider and no car problem, but if Ron's wand isn't broken, he probably had at least a chance to be better in the dueling club, so giving him the benefit of the doubt seems reasonable, despite Lockheart's ineptitude.
What if snape survived would really have been a cool one, I feel like he'd despise harry naming his child after him 😂
You guys should do an expansion of this video, On what would happen if Riddle succeeded and drained Ginny's life.
Ayo i said this ages ago
I feel like Ron would know a spell to repel spiders considering it’s his biggest fear he might have looked into it
What if Dumbledore never hired Lockhart?
I’m not sure how much impact this would have on the story except for CoS being a bit shorter
This is an alternate beginning to Jennifer Craw.
If he NEVER interfered in the deathly hallows they would be thoroughly screwed.
I’ve never clicked on a video so fast.
Same
Idea: what if bodycroutch got to dumbledoor and told him evrything
Maybe the Malfoys sent him to tell Harry not to come so Harry won't interfere with the plans.
Yes
Say it with me
*We want Chosen Neville back*
Yes!
I thought about this, and think yous should make a video about it. What if Snape never called Lily a mudblood.
Dobby got harry and the others out of tbe malfoy basement when they had no other way out.
Honestly, no dobby means harry can keep threatening the durslys with magic 😂
Maybe. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
I have another what if idea...What if Dumbledore was the minister for magic instead of Hogwarts headmaster?
Maybe the reason that Harry and Ron don't do anything when Lockhart takes the wand originally is because they knew it wouldn't work so maybe in this new timeline they disarm him and he's just the only difference and then dobby doesn't get freed because there's no connection
Won Won raptor is one of the best edits I have seen in a long time
Also, Colin wouldn’t have been prettified at all, since he was only going to the hospital wing to see Harry, so no Dobby means no Lockhart removing Harrys bones means no hospital wing for Harry and no Colin sneaking down to see him.
Do what if worm tail didnt escape when lupin turned into a werewolf
It just reinforces what I call the Law of Unintentional Consequences, which basically states that even the smallest of changes, whether on purpose or not, can have unintentional consequences.
This is a conversation i just had with chat GPT, mostly basic stuff but some interesting:
Please provide a hypothetical response for how Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets would have gone if Dobby would have never got involved. Please also consider key details that would change such as the car not being in the forest, or Ron no longer having a broken wand, to determine how the story would now go.
Without Dobby's involvement, several key events in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" would unfold differently. Let's explore how the story might change:
Here's how they might have survived without the car:
Lockhart would have as “Moody” said “A one way ticket to Azkaban!”
I think it's also pretty likely that Dumbledore risks the dangerous use of time-turners to undo any situation in which Harry dies, there's just no way he allows Voldemort to win… even if it involves creating a new timeline.
