Subaru was trying to make sure that Regulus would not kill Sirius since everyone else in the square would also die. After rejecting to use his life as a sacrifice he is unwilling to force that upon others. And he needed to try and get Emilia back now, what if he justs decides to dip and leave the country, gunna be hard to get her back then. And he likes her nature (not looks alone), helping him instead of going after the insignia, wasting time to help the lost kid, the one that helped him on his first miserable day, healed him and brought him to the mansion, and saw him overworking himself and then comforted him with the lap pillow (this is the main one that sealed the deal, before, he was more so trying to regain/redo the memories only he has after latching on to the first person to show him kindness) although, it is also like a foil from S1 Subaru’s bad mindset who viewed her kind of like a trophy just cuz he helped her with an immature ‘love at first sight’ and ‘you owe me’. Bad idealized infatuation that eventually turn to love once he grew out of it and could see her as her own person.
Sadly you're the one who isn't thinking straight subaru was actively trying to prevent a fight between Sirius and rugulus since if sirius kill rugulus Emilia will die too and if rugulus kill Sirius everyone under her control dies
When Subaru got injured, everyone in the proximity got injured as well, so if Sirius got killed... Time would be reset.
If Sirius had killed Regulus, maybe she could bring him under her authority and the same could happen, so yeah, you're absolutely right there.
Also, Regulus is just an idiotic and narcissistic egomaniac, so I don't know how on earth an alliance between Subaru and Regulus is impossible.

Regulus doesn't feel any pity towards Subaru, he's just being Regulus, the narcissistic selfish person that he did.
and about the reason why Subaru doesn't try to trick Regulus into fighting Sirius, well if bishop fighting each other, Sirius with soul brainwashing authority and regulus with his authority then others innocent people in that area or in that city would 100% be death.
Subaru is actually has a crush on Emilia at the beginning in S1, but that "crush" feelings turn to real "love" towards Emilia, when the lap pillow happened in S1 Ep 8. so technically he didn't fall in love with Emilia with just her looks alone, it's her kindness and personality that she has that made Subaru falls in love with her.
Remember both Beatrice and Subaru are Yin magic user which magic that always related to time and space in Re:Zero.
- "Shamak" magic spell will separate the user and the opponent from the world, isolated them within those black smoke from the world and the effects are you can't feel anything, you don't hear anything and etc, it's just dark empty little space,

I think the cult as whole don't consider "Emilia" as the witches reincarnation. That is mostly just Petelgeuse being delulu and painting his theory of Emilia being the reincarnation of the witch and painting it as fact at least in his sloth faction.
Here to add that, Should Regulus and Sirius fight. Everyone including Subaru would die due to Wrath’s authority of shared damage. Subaru was indeed thinking about the situation.

Subaru was never really about Emilia's looks (alone). What cemented him on his current path is her character in how kind she is to always repay her debts and always help others no matter the timeline (daughter of the appa stand guy etc.). The reason he decided to help her when he first met her is because Emilia gave some Tsundere reason as to why healing him was good for her even if he didn't give her any information - that's already when his crush began imo since she is just so naturally charming and extremely good natured.
And regarding the whole "why didn't Subaru use Regulus" rant... you are asking way too much from Subaru imo. He doesn't know how Regulus ticks just yet, Subaru doesn't have the info on Regulus that we have of him. So he literally just met him for the first time and he wants to take Emilia away... "just use him dude, duh!" could you think that rationally when your beloved was taken away by a total stranger that belongs to a cult of psychotic mass murderers? I don't think so. Now if this was the second or third time Subaru had conforonted him and he knew about his personality already then I would 100% agree with you that Subaru's aproach was bad here but he literally didn't have any info on Regulus prior to this episode at all...
There's a big reason why Subaru was drawn to Emilia the moment he saw her and it has nothing to do with her character but only because of her looks. Of course, beyond this is a spoiler.

It’s funny how Subarus the only one I’ve seen so far listen to Regulus and actually introduced himself instead of ignoring him completely and attacking, and it looks like Regulus actually responded well to it.

Anyone else noticed Regulus' slightly confused expression when Subaru gave his name? It might be a reference to when Rem faced him and Lye (Gluttony) at the start of S2
Also, the Gospels are merely downgraded copies of Echidna's book. Iirc, all they do is give the holder vague intructions of future events.
EMM (Subaru and Beako’s OC spell) works by separating Subaru and Beako from the outside world, and putting them in a different plane of existence, thus nothing can interact with their bodies, basically an invincibility spell (the Crunchyroll translation of Subaru explaining how the ability works is not very accurate)
Talking about voice acting... Garf's voice actor KILLED that crying scene. Oh my god. I can't remember the last time I heard such a visceral and exhausted sounding cry in an Anime. The way his voice gave out was chilling.

On the note of the gospels, I think I remember a line from maybe Echidna in the anime (I'm anime only) that they are only a cheap imitation of the book that is her Authority

Subaru tried to fight Regulus mostly because he knew that if both bishops fought there a lot of innocent people would die, and even Emilia could get hurt in the crossfire.
I ship Mimi and Garf as well, they are great together even if Mimi's voice annoys me sometimes (personal thing, i don't like very high pitched voices) and Hey, lucky Garf to have her by his side in that hard moment.
Also, yeah, new Loli spotted, there is already people trying to make the same excuses they made with Megumin and Rebecca, that "she isn't actually a loli" just because he is alluring and they want to simp for her. Personally i can't wait to see her, but honestly i felt like her voice was a bit too high pitched for me.

I didn't realize you were also doing a re:zero 3 episode weekly show, I'm glad you are though, you almost always go more in depth (and in a more educated and generally pleasant-read: it wouldnt worry me if my mom overheard me watching-manner) than the others I've been watching.
Granted you maybe also can't layer in the level of jokes on the fly this way, but, I'm pumped that you're doing this, and it's already hard to be funny with time to plan, so that was not a negative, at all.

Regulus doesn't remember becouse he was never there pandora sends his home with her power to be with his wife's and as she says things wil be like he never even was here (only 5hing the witch factor on betelgues doesn't get removed when she changes history there basicly is becouse she specifically says she wants to honor those feels of his that brought him to take it in bla bla bla) so yea it was like he was never there and thus didn't actually meet Emilia before

Sadly confrimation of the Witch's identiy is side story content and with s3 not having the mini series i don't think they'll included it in the anime. a lot of the lore is actually in the side stories then the actualy main series.
i'm glad im reading the novel because they skipped a lot of the mimi x garf interaction with the family and themselves. I also think that gluttony stole her memories, can't confirm since i'm not too far off from the anime.

Im ngl Im kind of annoyed at how "useless" Subaru is, I know its done on purpose but sometimes I cant even be hyped when he's on screen because I know in the end he's to weak to do anything other than dying and figuring out how to use his allies to win. Doesnt make the story bad though, just MY PERSONAL little issue
my problem with this episode is that while yes the Mimi and Garf stuff is cute, sad, and important. Coming off the first two episodes it felt like we covered so little in this episode.
I love this series, but I'm so disappointed that they go this sad trope of giving a female lead, in this case Emilia, a showcase of growth with a awesome battle scene. they then immediately put her in the damsel rescue arch. I personally hate this. Its just another over used trope that is used to much I really was hoping for something didn't. Hopefully they don't fresh out this rescue arch because this is really going to put a damper on my enthusiasm for the show. It's bad enough Rem has been taken out of the picture. I don't need another one from the main group missing for a prolonged time.
@@vizarddragon0757 I'm sorry but she's actually winning when she's fighting sirius until she got distracted when sirius brought the child in the middle of battle, and if she ever fight Regulus she won't have the chance because he's the 2nd strongest villain alive rn beside ofc Pandora.
@Faba145 I think you're confused about what i'mreferring to. Not questioning if she would beat regulus or not. They made it clear before he's op to them. I'm referring to the cliche of Emilia gets to show her growth. But then we throw her back to being the one who needs rescue. I think it's just a waste of character growth when series do that.
@@vizarddragon0757 hm... i think you need to wait for future episode, because she's not gonna sit idly when she got kidnapped, she's still gonna be active, even contributed in something unless they cut it out in the adaptation, and make it full cliche trope.
@@Faba145 no spoilers please. But if/when she does fight back i just hope they get to it sooner than later. I really don't want a whole arch,season,core etc.. to be about rescuing her.
