      @@MrMannyhw is that a financial strategy to get an up to date one? Serious question. I want one so bad but I was just going to bust my ass and just get my first one as up to date. If I can get an old one, could I come up with a way to get a dated one?

    • @MrMannyhw

      @@ElusivEnigma Not sure if there any financial strategy to own a vehicle. One buy it to have pleasure driving it. It usually don’t make sense to buy a niche vehicle like this. Minus all the possibilities of appreciation in value. I hand a chance to buy a facelift NSX in the early 2000s. If I did, I would had driven this car for free and sell it for the same MSRP I paid for years back and still enjoyed the car. I would say people should buy what they can afford and also be handy to know how to fix them. I figure in my lifetime, it be hard to buy and own exotics. Only way is to buy out older ones and know how to fix them for cheap. R8 still on my list of cars I want to own a bit and drive it around for a bit.

    to be 100% honest, the R8 went from a car I hated, to a car I love! Whats crazy is all they did were minor changes, and that was enough. Like the back fro example. It seem wider, more rectangular, and just perfect now. The front additions, make it so much better too. All these little add ons, upgrades, and it goes from "meh" to "sexy"

    Tbh nothing will ever beat the original design for the 1st R8. It was way more round but i loved it. Now the newer R8 are chiseled and soooo many more lines. Still looks good but that 1st generation R8 is my favortie

    R8 used to be obtainable to the working man, just a little harder to get to than the GTR. Now its 158 just for the shell and by the time you're done being "modest" with a spec its over 200k.

    I wish they would just make it hybrid instead. Let the V10 live on for a few more years. Detune it for fuel economy and emissions if they need but don't kill it.
    For example: detune the engine to 550hp, give it an electric starter/torque fill motor on the crank giving an extra 50hp or so. Powering rear wheels only.
    Then on the front wheels have an extra 150-200hp of electric motors for AWD.
    With the V10 only powering rear wheels you get less drivetrain losses meaning better efficiency for the V10 and less emissions.

    • @autonerdyt
      @autonerdyt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I would love for Audi to make two versions - full V10 and EV model! As I think a lot more people would be interested in that for sure!
      Personally I would go full V10 for the sound - but I do know a lot of car enthusiast who would be interested!

    In a world where Lambos, Mclarens, Ferraris, Paganis are being bought and fought over
    I rather have an R8, Porsche and BMW, their cheaper and gorgeous

    • @midimillz
      @midimillz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d rather have a tt rs it’s like half the price stage 2 your in super car territory plus you get back seats that you can use lol and let’s be real easier and cheaper to maintain but if you got money to blow and you don’t care about your pockets get the r8

    • @mineralgrey8332
      @mineralgrey8332 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@midimillz The R8 is cheap after devaluation, you can easily get the previous models for around $50-60k, highest $80k. Same with Porsche and BMWs.
      As for maintenance if you stage 2 a TTRs it will be as expensive to maintain if not more since it’s modified and tuned, so different upkeep is needed to make sure it doesn’t “blow up” lol. With an R8, a basic tune, DP and Charge Pipe and your all set to go.
      At the end of the day you don’t need a 1000hp street legal car. An R8 is max 602hp, with all small mods your looking at close to 710-720hp. That’s quite enough lmao.

      You make some very good points however it’s not as long / wide as most super cars, someone over 6ft6 has enough space to fit in it and I do enjoy how the interior is simple and easy to use which doesn’t mean it’s small.
      If your going shopping yes there’s no cargo space but mostly all super cars don’t have very big cargo storage space.

      @@autonerdyt are you saying buy new and you'll have better reliability from Audi and/or other Euro cars? Isnt that for basically everything? Are the stats OP is talking about mostly consist of 2nd owners and beyond ? If so that makes it worse.

    Car manufacturers need to stop caving into the EV madness and green lunatics.

      I agree, but in the UK new guidelines are coming into play :(
      Car companies will commit to all its new vehicles being purely electric starting from 2025 with fuel-cell EVs and battery EVs
      Sad times indeed :(

      Design is amazing, V8 is long gone, the V10 is one of the best engines ever made, shares not a single part to the tt, the huracan is made on its plattform, L + Ratio + youre poor + cry + your mom

    Never considered the R8. It’s like the middle of the road in all categories for me.
    Looks… we’re unique but not the coolest or prettiest offered in any year. Nearly all the $200k+ cars out there look better than this save for the McLarens.
    Performance - even now with 611hp, it’s lower powered and 0-60mph and 1/4mi are slower than comparable supercars. I’d take a 911 Turbo S or Lambo Huracan over this any day.
    Luxurious beds - I’d rather a Bentley or Aston.
    I know the R8 is less expensive than some of the cars I named but when you get near $200k for a car, it’s not a far cry anymore.
