Hi mate, been watching your videos for a while. Used to work in this industry now done a complete U turn and work elsewhere but have a few years under my belt for plumbing and heating. Bought my first property 2 years ago, I reconfigured the downstairs bathroom to incorporate a shower and redone the bathroom upstairs. I used hardie backer on floor and walls, scrim tape and sealed joints. I then used the mapei shower proofing kit and taped the joints again and plastered two coats of the aqua proofing paint in the shower and bath area. Bit overkill but didnt fancy any leaks. Very similar to the stuff you’ve put on and I rate it. Funnily enough, when I used to do plumbing/heating when we did bathrooms never done any of the tanking unless it was a wetroom. Any bathroom I do in the future will always be tanked, its just not worth the risk.

Just setting my up done all the walls and two bumps outs and used Thermopanels . Just wired up the digital panel with 10 mm T/E cable , that bw1 would have been handy to have I’m got some Tanking membrane in the corners , looks nice and easy, good luck with the show and have fun 👍👍👍👍👍

Hi Mark, yes I do like the tanking kit, was that just applied directly onto the new plaster? I have always been a big CT1 and BT1 fan, I’ve used loads of it.
It appears to go on very well with the brush and roller, then I presume you can tile directly on top of it? If I have understood it correctly, it sounds great and I look forward to using it in the future. Another great film thank you, as always have a great week and take care, regards Chris. 👍👍👍

Whats it like filling small cracks or gaps? does it slump? I am used to a certain product which is mixed to your chosen viscosity.

I guess you could just use hardy backer all over the bathroom and just tank the shower area with BW1.

@MJTiffPlumbing not trying to bait but doesn't sound like much difference. Ct1 products are great but the price difference isn't justified. It's all marketing. The ingredients are the same as lower priced competitors on most of their products.
Is this as good as a Wedi tile backer board system? Moisture boards & this kit are significantly cheaper!

The lack of need for a primer is good, but why no skirt like the competitor products and how will it compare on price?
No need to skirt or trim as it goes like a rubber membrane once set…. The time it saves is great

Will the bw1 move with the tray when the timber under the tray starts to expand and contract with the moisture ?
Yep, this turns to a rubber type membrane when it’s gone off, so even if the walls move and the tiles crack it will stay sealed👌🏼
That would be revolutionary. I would have a tendency to still use a classi seal as we have always used them. Does the product state the amount of movement it will tolerate?

I know this is demonstrating the product but do you normally go that high? I only ever go a foot above the valve as it's a waste and not needed, especially given the cost.
I always cover the whole area to be 100% sure it’s all sealed mate…. It’s cheaper than any issues😉👍🏼👍🏼

What…. 3 hours in total…. Pretty fast to me mate, a lot quicker than a few hours prepping the walls, few hours taping up then 3 hours applying 2 coats….
