Sure gives you a rough idea how catasrophic real train accidents can become.
Still not nearly as bad as in real life. Petrochemicals are HORRENDOUSLY toxic and dangerous.
@@poilboiler That's why I wrote "Rough idea". It's not a simulation to prepare for real life but more a warning that when accidents happen in that line of work, they get bad.
@@korkronwarlord True but it's nowhere near as bad as real life at all. The explosion and fire is bad of course but the game completely ignores how people in an entire city can start having problems breathing and having other health problems right away. And let's not even get into the horrible medium or long term effect it has. Obviously simulating those things isn't in the scope of the game.

Google Lac-Mégantic in Canada. 10 years ago, oil. Incinerated like like 5 square blocks of the downtown and killed 50 or so. It changed the book on safety, untended consists, handbrake requirements and a whole host of other things.
My days, that's even better than I'd hoped. I never imagined things leaking across the terrain then catching fire !

When it comes to ammonia: if you are in the cloud it's too late. You can detect it at only a few parts per million.

Seeing the DE6, in the beginning, at 90*C makes me thinks that it's going to overheat a lot more than is does currently.
Next time on derail valley: *NUCLEAR BOMBS!* Yes, I know what he said - but that would pretty damn cool if the game included those as well!

The physics in this game are fucking phenomenal 😮 very impressive.
It all looked realistic, but I think the two train crash at the end would play out differently in RL.
Comes rolling through the destruction to deliver the finishing speech... Brilliant m8, just brilliant. Any chance with an "explosive scenario" one can "reset" the situation to pre-crash in the sandbox mode?
There will be save games in the game but I don't know if there will be a reset button.
@@kempo_95 you can save scum or have a cheating sandbox session
The ability to revert saves is based on the difficulty you set for that specific savegame. Unless you turn it off for a harder experience, you will be able to load back to any save you want if you mess up
And now you too can have your very own Summit Tunnel incident!
That's why i lost interested in regularly train and plane sims. You can't crash and create chaos. And im so waiting for this updated to be released.

Guess it's time to break out the vr headset
There's a lot of work to be done on the physics because that's not how head on collisions work at all. I've never had a single full blown derailment in the game, I play it for the relaxing nature of it, so these flaws don't bother me. But the damage modelling, fire effects and physics being talked up so much is just silly when they look like this.
sure, then we need someone that knows how head-on collisions work to build a well-rigged physics system that can modify the shape of trains depending on the damage they take, which is not easy.

I'm pretty sure diesel is not flammable. A lighter wouldn't start a fire with diesel, at least not at sea-level atmospheric pressure.
It has a pretty high flash point, but it actually is technically flammable. It just either has to be really hot for whatever reason or you have to deliberately try to get it to burn

Devs said that they should be mostly unchanged
If you can run overhauled you can run simulator. Devs said that they've made a lot of optimizations that basically counterbalance the stuff they added. The requirements aren't that high. I've had run it (overhauled) fine with an i7 4k and a GeForce 960. In 1080p.

i actually had done some sheet liike that in OWC, it was not funny, took me like another 4 hours to pay of the debt i made with the damage lol
But ammonia is flammable same with ammonium nitrate, although that depends on the conditions. Remember the Beirut explosion.
Ammonium nitrate is not the same as ammonia. Regular old ammonia is what's in Windex that makes that smell. Ammonium nitrate is a fertilizer that also happens to be very flammable (and explosive).
Don't try this at home? Who has a home with live real trains they can drive and crash?!
