Quels souvenirs cet Arkanoid... Merci Amstrad Maniaque.
Great conversion for the cpc, the only problem was the controls: on the arcade, there was a wheel which reacted to velocity (the faster you would turn the wheel, the faster the ship would go). Well, on the cpc we only had the joystick or the keys. Which means that whenever the ball would reach astronomic speed we were destined to lose. This inherent handicap made the game incredibly difficult.
I always wondered why no additional keys were used in home computer conversions for fast position changes to fixed positions spread across the lower border of the screen. The fingers of one hand could rest on these position keys (1 to 4 e.g. plus an additional fire key) while the other hand operates left/right keys.
Arkanoid or any other breakout style game MUST use a paddle or mouse. Couldn't the Cpc use a mouse or trackball? Even the ancient vic20 or could use atari 2600 paddle controllers. Most post 1985 computers could use a mouse, too, whether pc, st, amiga, mac,, etc. Arkanoid was great with mouse on Atari St Ridiculous to even attempt a n arkanoude style game without a spinner or mouse, or even an analog joystick, anything that is velocity variable.
Hardcore.
I still think the best last level is on the BBC micro, where the DOH is made out of golden bricks. Feels very satisfying after having hit them an infinite number of times in all the previous levels.
Nice port of the Taito's coin-op on the CPC.Graphically and musically is what CPC users demand.Has a proper ending however part 2 The Revenge of Doh is a lot better.Hope Maniac can upload soon the longplay.
It's not a port. A port is when a game is created for one system, and then adapted to run on another system. It's a conversion. This is when a game is written from the ground up on one system to resemble a game written for another system. :)
A very good conversion but trying to beat this without the arcade round controller, which allowed you to adjust your movement speed, was almost impossible.
Can't understand why the player has such an aversion to the C-capsules (the one that sticks the ball to the bat) Would have helped in so many of the levels he struggled with ...
(a bit later in the vid) Now I understand. In the Amiga version where the ball lands and takes off on the sticky bat does seem to be a bit more random than on other versions. Got it!
Respect and greetings from Greece!

Hardcore.
I've still got the original version of this I got for Christmas in 1987.
Mon jeu préféré sur cpc merci !

By far, the best 8bit conversion in my opinion.

Yes,it's from an arcade machine so it's a conversion not a port.

Oh oui rooo la raquette collante
👍!
Aaaaaaaaaah yes.

Purple power up!
Wow this version seems almost as good as the Atari ST.
I am the worst player on earth in arkanoid..yeap true story
J'ai toujours été nul à ce jeu !!!!! Mon frère était bien meilleur........
