nice video! brings back memories of micro fishing in Split and Rovinj a few years back. Caught tons of painted combers with tiny Keitechs, Gulp worms and various grubs. Very nice country for fishing, and food and wine of course.
Thank you for watching man! I am glad you enjoyed the video :)) I also used some small Keitechs on this trip and had good success! Cannot wait to be back in Croatia
hi, if we talk about UL rock/shore fishing, in Croatia we have only one poisonous fish. We call her pauk (spider), but I think the English name is Greater Weever (Trachinus Draco)...btw, nice video...enjoy Croatia...
Hi! Thank you for letting me know! Great to get some good information from a local! I actually caught something that looked a lot like a greater weaver the other day over the sand! Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I'm definitely enjoying Croatia :))
Well there are more venomous fish found in Croatia, like the brown scorpion fish he cought, the red scorpion fish, and the stargazer (Uranoscopus scaber)... but yes the pauk is by far the most dangerous one. Painted comber than you cought is completely harmless no venom no spines. Keep enyojing fishing but also stay safe
Hi, idk if you will read this, but when you snag a line like you did in 7:09 , you can get it back easily without going in the water if you have a plastic water bottle with you. Basically what you do is, open the cap of a half filled bottle, wrap the line on to the threads of the bottle, do this as close as you can get to the snagged lure (but leave enough slack so that you can lift the bottle over your shoulder), screw the cap back down. Now, you have the water bottle attached to your line. One side of the line leading to your reel and the other side is the line leading to the snagged tackle and the water bottle in between. Hold the bottle with your dominant hand, hold the rod with your other hand, open the bail of the reel and throw the bottle towards the snagged tackle, aiming to go past it. You should throw it as far as you can. After the bottle lands in the water, start reeling the bottle back. It should also de-snag the tackle. Try throwing again at different angles until it de-snags. It will work most of the time.
Wow thank you! Sounds complicated but I'll give it a go next time I'm in Croatia! Will hopefully help me save some lures, but also stop me from snapping line off in the water! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks Matt! Such a cool fish right!! Really similar to the bream we have in Australia! Feeling better already, still a bit chesty, but on the mend for sure :))
I'm a micro lures enthusiast also, especially play with 2gr jighead and maximum 2 inch soft plastics Watching your video makes me so envy, never seeing such a great fishing spot like that Can't wait for your next fishing vids mate 🤙
Thank you so much! Micro fishing is so fun! People always think that its only fun to catch big fish, but there's such a big variety of smaller fish! Never know what you're going to catch. More videos coming out soon :))
Thank you so much, I use Final Cut Pro! It's quite expensive, but I've always been super into video editing so I got it for Christmas or something when I was like 14 haha. Hope you get around to it! Would be keen to see some content :)) All the best brother!
I was using size 2 jig heads 1/8 ounce I believe it was! Size 1 or size 2 will work well for these 2 inch grubs. Make sure that you get size 1 or 2 and not 1/0 or 2/0, which is an easy mistake to make haha! Happy to help, hope you can get them and catch some good fish on them :)) Thanks for watching the video, hope you enjoyed it 😁
Thanks for letting me know! I had someone tell me when I was younger that a painted comber is dangerous, so I was worried a bit haha. Is it bad to be spined by a scorpion fish? I've been told by someone that it's like a bee sting
There are a few fish species you need to be careful: greater weaver (sandy bottoms), moray eel... Don't get bit, congor eels also don't get bit, scorpion fish(rocky bottoms) tasres amazing, and a nother one idk how its called in English in Croatian its zvezdogled. Tasty but deadly... Sandy bottom too
Thank you for the advice! I am back in Australia now, but will hopefully be coming back to fish in Croatia again soon enough :)) In Australia we have zvezdogled, we call it stargazer fish! I will try to target some more species of fish next time I am there! All the best 💪
@@Pootuffy happy I could help a bit :-) sadly many fishermen get injured or end up loosing a limb or their life because they don't know what to be careful with... But it seems that you were careful with everything and that's what you are supposed to do. Good luck when you come back :-))
hahaha it most definitely was a baby! I'm back in Australia now, so have to catch Australian fish until I'm back in Croatia, hopefully next year! Still more videos from Croatia to come out though :))
@@Pootuffy i recommend you to go to Malta instead ! especialy Gozo the tiny island beside malta, is much more beautiful than croatia and it has a lot marine diversity ( similiar species since its all mediterane) therwise i have heard Lebanon and israel are awesome spots for mediterane fishing an spearfishing

That is really cool! Thank you for letting me know :))
No problem and the painted comber you caught we call it pirka and it is not dangerous
Im from croatia first fish name is perga and fish with two lines is fratar
That's really interesting! Nice to learn what they are called in Croatian 😊 Thank you for letting me know!
Where in Croatia did you fish?
Just around the islands, Korcula, Hvar etc! Where are you located?
Yes it was baby scorpion fish but it is not so mean if it stings you just heat spot with lighter
Awesome! Thank you for letting me know, I was not sure whether it was venomous or not! Will now know for next time!
Painted comber is not poisons but that third fish was scorpion fish
