Love mom’s reaction when she saw her son’s name, then the apprehension in her voice as she softly called out his name. This is one of my favorite ‘military surprise’ videos!
The way she looked around after she said her son's name, so hopeful, then suddenly had that realization of sadness and quietly said no to herself as a reminder that would be too good to be true.. that in itself broke me and then to see the immediate switch after that soft no to pure elation was beyond moving.
@@cinemaparadiso5402you're disgusting, a lot of us Americans appreciate our military branches and have respect and class, things your parents obviously failed to teach you.
it's been 14 for me and seeing other men and women get to hug their mothers with such joy and emotion brings some peace knowing that even though I cannot have it with my mother, people around the world are still getting to feel that warmth. I'm grateful I experienced it in my life and I am happy for everyone who gets to experience it in their lifetimes. Sorry for you loss my friend
From the 6 second mark, where she's longingly looking throughout the assembly, to the moment she softly says, 'no?', to seeing him at the 9 second mark, is everything that is beautiful about humanity. It's being stoic, it's maintaining vulnerability, and it's expressing unbridled love, it's just about the best 3 seconds on TH-cam.
In 2013, my youngest son called me from BWI at 0245 to tell me, "Dad, I'm home." For the first time in 7 months I slept all night. I slept the sleep of the redeemed.

You can almost see the stress, worry etc, leave this woman as she cuddles into her boy!. I just love the 'Daring to hope' body-language as she reads her son's name out- you can see, for a split-second she's thinking - 'if I say his name he'll magically appear ' !

I kind of don't get it. He was stationed in Germany for a few months. How is that different that son coming home from college? Not trying to be insensitive but... Now if he had surprised her after a couple of weeks in Iraq in 2007, I would totally get it.
Priceless! This is why I am still always in tears whenever I see my teacher Mom who still cries for my brother who died last year. As they say, a parent shouldn’t bury her child. Mom is dearest to her son just like the Father to her daughter. Thanks for sharing this wonderful heartwarming vid.
I love these military homecomings. I just wish we Vietnam veterans had been accorded the same homecomings. We came home like thieves in the night and to this day it still hurts some.
Even if i'm just a guy from Germany i can feel your pain. The time you served your country and all of its allies were so different. But you and all of your comrades paved the way for all generations of soldiers after. Let me thank you for your service and i hope you are a proud veteran nowadays. I wish all parents, grandparents... can put his/her arms around their beloved when they return home like this mum does. Remember the fallen!
you did what your country asked, no one can do more. You deserve respect for that service. Whether people agreed with the war or disagreed that’s to argue with the politicians not the people serving their country.

After turning 18, I served in the Bulgarian army for about 2 years. I never saw any real combat, but I was away from my family for 6 months, stationed at a NATO base. When I came back home, both of my parents cried and hugged me like they've never done before. I had tears in my eyes too, cause I was welcomed with the purest of love.
