    I don't make comments on the internet so much, but this dear brother has been a huge blessing to my life. I am still evangelical, I was raised as one, son of a Pastor, who always taught me to love all Christian traditions, and like this, I started to read more about the doctrines of the Roman Catholic Church, which is the most important church -still- in my country, Chile, even though It seems to be very off, people don't go to mass as it was before, and many Catholics brothers don't know what they believe. For a while now, I know that the Eucharist is the blood and body of the Lord, I think I started to understand this in a historical way, but also during my times of prayers, the Lord show me that He is there, then I found the book of Dr Pitre about the eucharist which was a confirmation for me of that matter, I share this with my church and every day we are having more reverence to the Lord Supper. Now, maybe a few months started to realize the importance of Mary for the salvation plan of God, how she, by grace and her yes to the Lord, I want to learn more from her, before I was son against this kind of doctrine, but kinda now I see them more clearly, but it's not just an intellectual thing, it comes with peace in my heart. May God bless all people who seek the kingdom of God before everything else. Thank God for Dr Pitre, and how he has developed his gif his "charis" is definitely an example to follow.

As a Catholic convert, I simply don't understand why the protestant movement basically erased Mary from the plan of salvation. It's actually sad to imagine how redacted the protestant religion is. I am so blessed that God gave me the grace to convert to Catholicism; Catholicism is the fullness of the truth and I am closer to my Lord and Savior than I have ever been. @@Michael-pw2td quote--You'll remain in error until you accept the interpretation of the Holy Spirit entrusted to the Catholic Church. unquote
      QUOTE that FROM THE BIBLE and NOT an opinion or tradition!!!!
      Who is the interpreter of Scripture?
      Scripture alone is the sole rule and norm for faith and life. Being the very Word of God in written form, the reformers also maintained that “Scripture interprets Scripture” which means that the Bible is its own interpreter. This is a profound concept to be sure.
      -----Who has the authority to interpret Scripture?
      As the very word of God, Scripture comes with the authority and sufficiency of God, and therefore Scripture is not subject to the interpretation of any man or body, but rather Scripture interprets itself.
      ----So, interpret these:
      -----Ex 20:4-6 4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
      --Ex 20:8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
      --Isaiah 58:13 “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath
      and from doing as you please on MY HOLY DAY,
      if you call the Sabbath a delight
      and the Lord’s HOLY day honorable,
      and if you honor it by not going your own way
      and not doing as you please or speaking idle words,
      -----Acts 10:11-17
      INTERPRET them!!!
      ***What DAY IS THE SABBATH?
      Let’s let the Catholic Church answer this one. After all, they have been studying it for millennia, and also convinced the world to change the day. So, what do they say?
      “Perhaps the boldest thing, the most revolutionary change the Church ever did, happened in the first century. The holy day, the Sabbath, was changed from Saturday to Sunday. “The Day of the Lord” (dies Dominica) was chosen, not from any directions noted in the Scriptures, but from the Church’s sense of its own power. The day of resurrection, the day of Pentecost, fifty days later, came on the first day of the week. So this would be the new Sabbath. People who think that the Scriptures should be the sole authority, should logically become 7th Day Adventists, and keep Saturday holy.” Sentinel, Pastor’s page, Saint Catherine Catholic Church, Algonac, Michigan, May 21, 1995
      So, I’d say the Sabbath of the Lord is Saturday. The Sabbath of men is Sunday.
      Which do you want to follow?

      @@veritasmuy2407 😂😂 No it doesn't, who told you that? Tapeinōsin? It means humble or lowly, it has nothing to do with sin. You think John 2 shows Mary committing pride? You can't be serious. Asking her Son to help another person is your definition of pride? You are horrible at exegesis. John mirrors the Genesis creation account in John 1&2. Unlike Eve, who brought about the fall of man, Mary as the new Eve brings about the redemption of man. "They have no wine." " *WOMAN* , what it that to me and to thee? My hour has not yet come" His mother saith to the waiters "Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye." This doesn't show pride this show humility. She asks Jesus to help the wedding party that she is a guest at, if they ran out of wine it wouldn't make her look bad. And what does Jesus say? Woman( citing Mary as the woman of Genesis before the fall, who was still without sin and still a virgin) how does that concern me and you? He doesn't just say why does it matter to me but why does it matter to us. Showing how close of a relationship they shared. And that she knew what his ultimate fate was. Even though it wasn't his time Jesus still began His public ministry at the request of his mother. This shows that when Mary intercedes to her Son he acts.

    Dr Pitre is definitely a "Doctor of the Church" in the same way as St Thomas Aquinas et al! One thing that occured to me watching this, during Dr Pitre's explanation of Mary as the New Eve - I haven't read the book, and I expect that someone a lot more learned than me has already said this in a book or lecture somewhere, but; At the start of the story, Adam appears first and then Eve, who is "born" from Adam through the intervention (or involvement) of God. And then they sin together. In order to complete the cycle as it were, not only must the New Adam and the New Eve be together at the moment of our salvation (rescue from the Fall) just as Dr Pitre describes in this talk, but the New Eve must appear in the story first, and the New Adam be born from her body via the intervention (involvement) of God - thus the Virgin birth following the Anunciation where Mary is made pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Just something that occured to me watching this talk, that the "reversal" or "mirroring" of the birth of Eve from Adam and Christ from Mary, were the two "bookends" of the story of Humanity between the Fall and the Salvation. Probably wrong though, I am not a scholar at all!

    The oldest-known text of a prayer to Mary is from around A.D. 250. It is in Greek, and calls Mary "Theotokos," which means "God-bearer." Catholics would know it from a Latin version called the "Sub tuum praesidium."
    Beneath your tenderness of heart, we take refuge, O bearer of God. Do not despise our petitions amidst our troubles, but rescue us from dangers, O only pure one, only blessed one.
    Oh Mother Mary be a mother to us now . Amen!

  • @patri1689
    @patri1689 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    @32:00 It got to be both---necessary and fitting. Necessary because of a very unique special grace at the moment of her conception; and fitting, as you said, because of her identity as a New Eve. I see it as internal and external aspect of Mary which is her unity of being as the Daughter of the Most High, a Spouse of the Holy Spirit, and the Virginal-Mother of the Saviour of the World, Yahushua Ha Christ.

    • @patri1689
      @patri1689 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Gerry Hagen
      I respectfully disagree. Sorry you missed the point. I merely correct one of his idea without taking anything away from his lecturer.
      To answer your objection which seems plausible but in reality not true. You see to begin with it was not Jesus who said that but St. Paul. But that's a minor mistake you made there. The major mistake you made there is that you reduce what is said there as if there is no exception. Let's see it this way: All men have sinned, thus condemned to death. This statement is true but we do know God made exception. We know, from a Old Testament, Enoch and Elijah didn't taste death but was taken to paradise. Similarly, even more convincingly in case of the radical unity between Jesus, the Son, and Mary, the Virgin-Mother, such kind exception logically acceptable. Indeed, exception is not the rule in our horizontal way being but from vertically from God's way it is the revelation of "grace and truth" (John 1).
      I pray, in His Holy Name, you come to see this beautiful and most sublime doctrine.
      God speed.

    • @patri1689
      @patri1689 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Gerry Hagen
      I'll respond to you further but when I say Enoch and Elijah didn't taste death, I don't mean they didn't sin. I was pointing out the rule of exception. To give the gift of sinlessness to Mary is an exceptional act of His Divine Mercy by All loving n Most Good God. As we have been told n believe, "For God nothing is impossible." This gift of being free from sin is hinted at her being a Virgin before, during, and after the Birth of Our Lord.

    • @patri1689
      @patri1689 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Gerry Hagen
      This I'll add. Mary didn't receive her sinless life not for her own sake. But for the sake of the end God has in mind which is for her not to pass the original sin which we receive when we were in the womb of our mothers. Mary was merely n fully participating in the Immaculate Conception of Her Son. It was not to make her another Saviour but to make her participate in the Work of Redemption as only a Mother can participate. We Catholics don't take away anything from what Jesus accomplished on the Cross. Rather thru her, we see and believe this great work of Mercy as she did and does. The goal is to be convinced like her, to be completely conformed like her unto Christ. There is no one better who has done that than her. She is and remains the first and foremost disciple of all believers because of this unique and exceptional gift of Mercy of grace and truth she received at the moment of Her Immaculate Conception.
      As for the Church Fathers took them 300 years, well it is the same thing that it took the Church Fathers to declare the core doctrine of Christianity i.e. the Holy Trinity. The deposit of Faith is already written n finished in the year 100 AD with the death of St. John the Evangelist. But human reason investigates and come to understand it later. Faith comes first, understanding comes later. So let's not assume we are smarter than the Church Fathers who were far more into the faith. If we want to see what we mean by being saved, the Blessed Virgin-Mother is the shining example of this faith which comes only thru hearing.

      I've not heard from you Gerry. Are you still remaining on your position or you would like to revisit the Mariology of Catholic Church. If you would like more info, you can visit CatholicAnswers.com
      Yes as for me I was born Catholic. And now discerning for religious life. The world is going nuts with far left liberalism but the Christian Faith remains the only sane path to God, from whom we come to whom we must return.

    • @patri1689
      @patri1689 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Gerry Hagen
      Wow your logic incredible.
      First, the declaration of 1849 is never to make Mary a divine or transcendent. Never. Immaculate Conception never means making her equal with God. It just means she is free from sin and the reason is explained well by that gentleman on the video. Even Her transcendent nature is not as Goddess but in so far as she is "full of grace" to use the words of St. Gabriel who stands before the Thrice Holy God.
      Second, to compare Mary with Eve is exactly to say that she is a human being but faultless human being as that. The comparison is to show a direct contrast between the two. The former one who disobeyed the will of God and the latter one who didn't sought her own good. What is the similarity between night and day except they both reveal what time it is !!!

    With regards to St. Paul saying "for All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" .When Jesus said to His disciples in John 16:32, "But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me ALL alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with Me". But John was at the foot of the cross, so truly God always makes an exemption and God will always makes Mama Mary exempted in all possible ways because God gave Her not so many many graces but Full of graces. All the possible graces God can give, He gave it all to His Mother.

    • @veritasmuy2407
      @veritasmuy2407 ปีที่แล้ว

      YOU: Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with Me". But John was at the foot of the cross, so truly God always makes an exemption
      *ME: LOL. Jesus was talking about being alone because when he was arrested -- ALL of his disciples scattered and deserted him,* with Simon even denying he ever knew Savior Jesus. *AND Jesus is talking about hanging on the cross -- dying to reconcile sinful Mankind back to GOD -- which Jesus ALONE could do* (Colossians 1:12-14,20-22).
      GOD wasn't making an "exception" to Jesus' "aloneness" by having the women and John standing at the foot of the cross -- see John 19:25. Come on, you can study better than that.

    • @veritasmuy2407
      @veritasmuy2407 ปีที่แล้ว

      YOU: God gave Her not so many many graces but Full of graces
      *ME: The Greek words for "full of grace" are "pleris charis" as used to describe Jesus in John 1:14 -- those are NOT the same words used to describe Mary in Luke 1.* Luke 1 says that Mary was BEING GRACED/favored by God as the descendant of King David that would birth the long awaited Jewish Messiah that would one day sit on his father King David's Jewish throne in Jerusalem -- Luke 1:32, Matthew 2:2, Apocalypse 20:4-6, etc.

      you pray the rosary because that was given to us from heaven, God's creation and willed it too, you worry about the none Catholic ones, they are the one that break the 1st commandment, eg hindism, buddahism, islam etc etc, and the atheists who prefer pic and status of naked women and men and animals and other materialistic stuff than the image of the Almighty God as it serve in the Catholic Church, further the protestants who mock the image and the status of GOD AND HIS FAMILY, AND THAT IS THE BLESSED MOTHER OF GOD, MARY, AND THE ANGELS THE SAINTS AND THE HOLY PEOPLE WHO ARE IN HEAVEN WITH THEM.. These protestants are destroying their images and statues and in their houses you find not the image of our Blessed LORD or his family but statues of animals or the paintings of some well known artists or the pic of their loved ones who are not God or any other items that they safe keep in their houses for treasures....

    Also it is important to note that our Mother Mary had to be free from all sin, being Created as God's Masterpiece to be able to withstand the sheer POWER of Jesus' Essence within Her Womb and also to be able to relate to Him as His Mother, since He is God. In my mystical experiences of my Pa-pa Jesus'Presence through His Holy Spirit, I have just tastes of Who my Creator is and feel my entire soul in relation to Him instantly. Had i not been going to Confession and Mass, already having a conviction of giving myself over to Jesus through our blossoming relationship filled with Spiritual enlightenments, if i wasnt already in a relationship with Him, then His Presence felt more POWERFULLY in these ways would have broken my heart to pieces having guilt from the INDESCRIBABLE BEAUTY of the way Jesus feels... Amd these are just tastes of Him. Now i fully enjoy Him as i am deeply convicted of being a new creation living in celibacy and obedience out of LOVE for Him. Id be a nun if congregations took belated vocation of women in "poor physical health", as i use a wheelchair... This is something that has to change!!!!! But point is that my Mommy Mary is indeed a MIRACULOUS Creation to carry and related to our Savior and God as His Mother, Her Son Jesus✝️🌹💞🥰📖🐑🙏⛪⛪💐✝️

      YOU: it is important to note that our Mother Mary had to be free from all sin,
      *ME: Mary says that she is a sinner in Luke 1:48. And John shows Mary committing the same Sin of Pride at the wedding in John 2:1-5 that Adam did in the Garden.*

      YOU: sheer POWER of Jesus' Essence within Her Womb
      *ME: You contradict Jesus and Peter and Paul -- they taught that the physical Jesus was a Man/Second Adam/SON of God (not God) who was INDWELLED by God/Holy Spirit (at his water baptism, John 1:33-34) and that it was GOD who indwelled Jesus that did the miracles (Acts 10:38, John 14:10, Acts 2:22, etc).
      Mary was the mother of the King of the JEWS (Matthew 2:2) that would one day sit on his father KING DAVID's Jewish throne in Jerusalem (Luke 1:32) -- which will happen at Jesus' Second Coming to Israel in Apocalypse 20:4-6. *Mary was NOT the mother of GOD who is Spirit (John 4:24)*
      And you might NOTE that Elizabeth's womb actually carried a baby that was indwelled by GOD/Holy Spirit (Luke 1) -- Jesus wasn't indwelled by GOD/Holy Spirit until he was 30 years old and baptized by John for the repentance for the remission of sin -- Matthew 3:13-16, Mark 1:4, John 1:33-34, etc. *Sooo.... I guess Elizabeth's womb was more powerful than Mary's....*

      The church never changed the Sabbath, that is an ellen white lie. Sunday is the Lord's Resurrection day, The apostle broke bread in the first day of the week - Resurrection day of the Lord in ACTS 20:7, not a je_w rest day (sabbath)

    No surprise John's amazing depth of understanding when you know he too had Mary to mother him up close and personal.
    Interesting how Mary had authority over servants in kitchen, why wasn't she mingling to find a suitable wife for her son?
    When jesus reminded her of what beginning his ministry would personally cost her, she went forth giving him to the public. I'm thinking they had much conversing and he had reasured her that he would not begin until she was ready.

    A question regarding this: „A maiden expelled us from paradise, through a maiden we find eternal life“
    In Genesis 3 Eve eats from the tree of wisdom and shares the apple with Adam. That’s why god expels us from paradise.
    However, god also says, now that we know good and evil, we MUST NOT eat from the tree of life, that would give us eternal life.
    Wouldn’t that mean, that god doesn’t want to have us eternal life? And wouldn’t it mean, that marry helping us gain eternal life, would be a bad thing according to god in genesis 3?
    I’m a convert to Catholicism, so I want everything Brand is saying about Mary to be true. However this just struck me and I’d like to hear your opinions about it.

    One question regarding Mary as the Woman in labour in Apocalypse chapter 12. As I understand it, one of the punishments for Eve in Genesis 3:16 was that she would now suffer pain in childbirth. But Mary was conceived without original sin. So why would she be depicted as travailing "in great pain of her delivery"? I'm using a Knox version of the bible. Could Dr Pitre or anyone else please enlighten me here? Thanks in advance.

      @CathoLisa41 Lisieux Well, you've cartainly got that wrong regarding my status as a mother 😆. I know aaaaaalll about being pregnant and giving birth from first hand experience! But all I am doing is asking for clarification about an apparent contradiction about the trials and travails of childbirth being associated with the sin of Eve, and why Mary - who was most definitely conceived WITHOUT original sin, should have to suffer those same pains?

      @po18guy That sounds like a pretty reasonable explanation - thank you!

      @po18guy Well, your explanation certainly makes sense to me. It hadn't occurred to me that the suffering og Mary might be related to her seven sorrows. Thank you for your insight.
