You can literally build a house( like this guy) from TH-cam videos. Most people can do these things, it really isn’t hard. All you have to do is a little research then get to work it’s that simple.
sadly its kinda hard in Europe. Every single part needs to be certified by a professional in that area and an architect, and the local government needs to be informed of the build plan to approve it and of the total cost to tax you 😅

Hello I am currently living in Washington State. My Son is Building me a Tiny Container Home in Texas. He recently bought the Mini Split. He has done it all himself & it’s Amazing! I Enjoyed watching your build. It made me feel like I could see what he had done and how much hard work he was doing!! Thanks for sharing your video!!!
You made yourself quite a cozy home. I’ve loved the idea of making a home out of containers. It makes it budget friendly. I’ve seen people weld I-beams on top of the containers to make a pitched roof to shed water and snow (depending where you live). I’ve even seen where foam insulation was added on both the inside and the outside walls to increase the R-value by reducing heating and cooling costs. The other nice thing about containers, is that you can stack them any way you want to or as high as you want to. You did a fabulous job.
I'm considering building something like this, and you just gave me a great idea! Regarding the I-Beams: couldn't someone just slice the top off the containers and then attach wooden 2x4s (extending the frame, basically) to not only create a pitched roof, but to also add another level?? And if that were to work out, what about codes and permits (United States - NJ specifically)? Because if that can all fly, I might end up going that route. My first idea was to build a small cottage with a basement from scratch... But lately I've been thinking that maybe I should just purchase the land, get two or so shipping containers, and convert them into one small cottage. Once that small home is finished, then I want to build the actual rest of the house around it (think of it like adding addition after addition/adding a room or two (or a certain amount of space) at a time. Kind of like a home that'll be a constant work in progress for around 5 or more years. I wonder if I can pull that off. Time will tell. And thanks for that idea!
@@Lifelong_Lesson Yes you could do that, I believe you would need to add a strut support, example from the i-Beam to the floor as the container walls are not strong enough on their own. Im not a contractor so if I use the wrong terms apologies.
@@Lifelong_Lesson as long as everything meets code, you shouldn’t have a problem. You can bury the containers to create your basement, you’ll just have to waterproof them first, but yeah, you can set them side-by-side, stack them on top of each other, set them end-to-end. If you know how to weld, that makes it even better. If you’re wanting to set them side-by-side, weld them together. If you want to expand your space, take a grinder with cutoff wheels, and cut the sidewalls out. If you still have questions about your build, there’s TH-cam videos that take you through the process. I hope this helps and answers your questions. Just be careful of the Taxman.

This is inspirational and I'd love to build a family cabin on our country property. One thing I think I'd change is, I'd build separate sewer lines for toilets from the rest, that way I could use the waste water from sinks and showers to save in water barrels to use in my garden.
Forgive me if this is not a good question asni have absolutely zero experience in such matters...but it would seem to me that using drainage water from showers, (given all the chemicals, artificial coloring, scents, heavy metals, etc., in common soaps, shampoos, conditioners, not to mention the heavy chemicals such as bleach from cleaning agents commonly used to clean showers), may not be the ideal water source to use in your garden, or plants in general, correct?
I hope you’re making a continuation video for this build. You show the end result, but there’s so much more to cover! Thank you, this has helped me understand the work involved with building a container home. Do you have any videos about stacking containers for a home?
In the future, you gave yourself an option to build 3 more containers off the back to add additional bedrooms. Large enough crawlspace to tie in a second bathroom. I, personally, would need a bigger kitchen. However, you also allow plenty of room to modify. Very nicely done.
I just binged watch your whole channel and I enjoyed the details of all of your summary videos, which was great. Not so much the live streams and hard to watch the nothing parts. Thank you for your investment.
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. We're looking to do similar, and seeing someone else's progression (and a little bit of the "how to") is super useful!
If you mean a turn off valve before water enters the home, yes I did put one. There's also another one out where the pressure tank is right after the well.
WOW great job. I really like how you beefed up the ceiling rafters. You wouldn't really want a multi-port with an input of less that 3/4" All supply lines are either 3/4" or 1" Also I do not know where you are located with weather, but you generally do not put plumbing on an external wall. So now since you have hopefully you are definitely going to insulate the crap out of it. Looks GREAT!!!
You guys are so wonderful. The house is so beautiful as it blends with nature, a beautiful container house model. Thank you for allowing me to refer and learn from this wonderful house model. Sincerely
This is magical, seriously. Been plotting doing very similar, had my own ideas and you were nailing them left and right, making me feel more justified that I'm not quite so crazy. You even have the same welder I've been using for my furniture designs that Id be using on the containers. Amazing!
Great job the only thing I noticed was that the vent that comes from the kitchen sink venting to the laundry vent should be upside down so it can vent out. I'd forsure try this. Thanks!
Yeah I've had others point that out to me. Do you really think gas/air particles will have trouble venting because of a slight downward bend in that piece? Sounds crazy to me lol
Considering the total cost of the build, and relatively minimal additional cost for “one trip” containers, I was surprised that he hadn’t opted for better condition containers. Great video!
58:17 the small piece of 3/4 of an inch pipe connecting the two 1/2 inch pipes is going to affect the water pressure taking account of the Venturi effect, but I believe only slightly. So not much of an issue. Otherwise the trick you pulled was very intelligent (that's the whole point of innovative engineering, being able to improvise), given the fact that you didn't have any other choice. All in all a very well documented build! Congratulations for your efforts both in putting the personal work to achieve such a high level result and for doing all the research and planning by yourself! Kudos and wish many more projects like these for people that want to think and live out of the box! My regards from Greece
Yeah I had looked into that extensively and couldn't find anything saying it would cause an issue. So far water pressure in the house has been great so....
@thinkoutsidethecontainer what about insulation, for walls ceilings and flooring, did you think it wasn't necessary? Seen some builders that have regretted not using the insulation, as metal will cause condensation inside the property. You house looks amazing, you're a perfectionist and very handy, congrats great house and great skills 👏
Yeah I used spray foam insulation inside on all exterior walls, under the house, and on the ceiling. I didn't film much of that, near the end of the build I was focused more on finishing the house than filming.
Wonderful Work! Congratulations your Home Is Beautiful! I love the open concept! Those twin sliding doors, the huge bathroom! Rally Good! I enjoyed walking along with you and helpers it felt like I was there! Whew! That was a workout all while sitting at home lol🤣 Tyfs!👏🏾👏🏾💯❤😁😁😁

@@thinkoutsidethecontainer Zinc chromate primer is another great one. It's big in the aviation industry. Expensive but gives protection forever after it cures...
@@TennesseeHomesteadUSA we'll see how long I can go without the sharkbites leaking. I have more faith in sharkbites than others who've commented on this video over the years. But we shall see.
Cool I found this, I had an idea to do the same thing. It would be the same up to when you started cutting the walls out. I want to use the three containers as part of the foundation. Then stack a premade container home on the end, use the middle container as a deck, and convert the end container into a pool.
Sharkbites are approved for use underground and behind walls, but installing them there could be risky. In both places, the fitting would be out of site. You would have no way of knowing if it were to start leaking. A SharkBite fitting contains a rubber O-ring, which is not best for permanent connections.
Good job ! Only not sure about that exposed PEX under the structure. Animals will chew on it. Also, that long horizontal washing machine drain run without vent a and with that 90 in the corner - hm, not sure how that will work ...
Thanks for the feedback. You mentioned a long horizontal washing machine drain without a vent? The washing machine drain does have a vent.... unless you meant the drain runs to long a length before the vent....
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer Yes, that is what I meant. With 2" pipe you can go up to 42" horizontal with 1/4" per foot, not to exceed width of the pipe over the length of the run. Now I understand it will probably somehow work, but you may have difficulties later on with drainage. But I don't wanna make it look like I criticize your work. Love what you do - and more power to you! Good job & good luck !
@@elmono3939 back during the build, I did a good deal of research on the venting pipes for the various fixtures, and I do believe I was confident I had the proper vent distances. But I'd have to go back and double check your numbers, which of course I'm not going to do because the house is done, but either way, thanks for your input.
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer There are two Codes we go by: IPC and UPC. Then there are local Codes that add to them their own requirments. So it depends under Code your work falls under. UPC is stricter of those two, requiring dedicated vent for each plumbing fixture. IPC doesn't. However, long dirt arm is not as much about Code, as much as it is about law of physics.
Extra ordinary work buddy. Keep it up. Waiting to see more of these videos. I was worried as i saw many bad reviews on container houses. But with this video I feel better ;) keep it up....
I'm actively looking for an engineer to do my blueprints and calculations to get a permit for a Florida container home. Can you let me know who you used or would recommend? Google has been unkind for looking for this specifically.
I thought the containers needed thorough rust stop and seal inside and out. And also, those back doors to the containers could have been fantastic secure shutters if the interior design had been reworked to have sliding glass doors there.
As a qualified builder, your attention to detail is a pleasure to watch.

Relatively is the keyword
@@thinkoutsidethecontainer perfect, recording and editing is just as hard, you did great
Really impressed with your ingenuity! Ready to start mine soon and I learned so much here. I may be contacting you for a drawing.
Wonderful Work! Congratulations your Home Is Beautiful! I love the open concept! Those twin sliding doors, the huge bathroom! Rally Good! I enjoyed walking along with you and helpers it felt like I was there! Whew! That was a workout all while sitting at home lol🤣
Tyfs!👏🏾👏🏾💯❤😁😁😁
Lol thanks for watching 🙂👍
Great video bro very interesting , it was nice to see it from start to finish all in one vid great job 😎😎🤘🤘
Excellent work in building the house, editing, filming your journey. This is very inspiring! Thank you for sharing this.
👍👍
Nice work!!!
Thank you for this inspiring video. Now we can see what we've been dreaming about for the last couple of years.
Thank you!!!
👍👍
Bravo Chris! What a ride! Your mortgage free baby! Love it, it’s awesome 😎
🙂👍
AWESOME JOB FROM START TO FINISH! You didn’t cut any corners that’s for sure! Why so many concrete footers? Because of the sand? Or is that what will be needed in any area?
8:45 Cold galvanizing compound sprayed. 48:00 Everywhere there are Pex connections inside walls I put the connections inside plumbing access panels with drains. Has saves headaches a few times.
Yes. It's quality stuff. Surprised how well it works.
But we shall see.
so nice ma dude, great job. and imagine if you can add new floor you can just stock up another container at the top.. soonnice
you did a good job a lot of hard work
Your video is impressive! I like your results. Congrats brother. Nice work 👍🏼
That looks amazing. Im curious to know did you treat/paint the underside too?
best container build ever seen
Cool I found this, I had an idea to do the same thing. It would be the same up to when you started cutting the walls out. I want to use the three containers as part of the foundation. Then stack a premade container home on the end, use the middle container as a deck, and convert the end container into a pool.
Sharkbites are approved for use underground and behind walls, but installing them there could be risky. In both places, the fitting would be out of site. You would have no way of knowing if it were to start leaking. A SharkBite fitting contains a rubber O-ring, which is not best for permanent connections.
This video is amazing, thats my dream home...
This is absolutely incredible and impressive. You demystified every step. Good job.
Man! I'm inspired!
AWESOME . . . I am absolutely excited to see shipping containers repurposed for home use!
Really appreciate the descriptions and explanations. Getting ready to do pretty much same project someday soon...
bro, such a great and thorough video... thanks so much for sharing; enjoyed every minute!
Congratulations! Great job! Now enjoy It!
true!
You do such careful and precise work. Very impressive.
also known as 'measure twice; cut once'.
Impressive project. Much respect for all the hard work.
Thank YOU for sharing this is one of the best I have seen on here. Thanks again
👍
This is an amazing home you have spend.❤
Great job! Learned a lot watching this. Thanks for sharing.
Should have an exhaust fan system for bathroom as well as fir water cliset. An 8" fan will do for proper ventilation.
Christ thank you for sharing your very impressive experience!!! This is a master class of construction of containers home🙏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Extra ordinary work buddy. Keep it up. Waiting to see more of these videos. I was worried as i saw many bad reviews on container houses. But with this video I feel better ;) keep it up....
Felicitaciones Arquitecto de lujo mucho trabajo lleno de detalles constructivos
I'm actively looking for an engineer to do my blueprints and calculations to get a permit for a Florida container home. Can you let me know who you used or would recommend? Google has been unkind for looking for this specifically.
I'm glad I don't need permission to do what I want on my land.
@@jimmywhitlow2012 lol thats the unfortunate thing with those of us living in suburbia. Can't do what we want because of pipes and stuff.
@jimmywhitlow2012 could it be that your country is one of those without any planning.
I thought the containers needed thorough rust stop and seal inside and out. And also, those back doors to the containers could have been fantastic secure shutters if the interior design had been reworked to have sliding glass doors there.
Great Work!
Great job !!
Learned a lot
