Brilliant - thank you for the videos. I have watched them all - nice to see you making the trip. Will come to the US one day to check out the West Coast Holiday for now a dream destination.
Tom, the car looks FANTASTIC! I understand why you've yet to install the interior; there's only 24 hours in a day, and they limited a week to seven days. It's a project that'll never be finished to your satisfaction, but done right, there's nothing better. (Just get a Bursch exhaust for it! Hahahahaha). Do you know Rod Packwood or Sam Cabiglio, and were they there? Rod has a few Porsche's (one or two 356s and some newer stuff. I've known Rod since we grew up together in Whittier (and raced on Turnbull Canyon Road). Sam... last I heard he was still Jerry Seinfeld's Porsche guru. He and I go back to his hotrodding days of putting Super 90 engines in dune buddy's, and his coupe de grass, an 1800cc, highly modified Super 90 engine he stuffed into a Fiat 600! (It would do wheelie's in 1st and 2nd). Last time I saw Sam was in the Army, at Fort Rucker, in '68. He and I drove to Sebring for the race and crewed Alan Johnson and Bob Kirby's 911S (they won their class)!
I spent more time on the garage remodel than I thought. Shocker! I didn't meet the two you know, but they may have been there. I will look on the registration sheet and see if they are there. One more big push and the interior will be done. It's hard to convey in a video, but the car drives great. The steering is tight, the trans works, the engine pulled strong up the Ventura/Oxnard grade and the 154 pass. It's going great, why rush it?
Wow, what a great event! Glad the car did so well. You should get some PPF I think it's called ( clear coating) to protect the front paint from rock chips. We have it on our Mini Cooper. Works great.
For sure it was fun. How much of the mini did you ppf? I'm taking just below the bumper line. I did the a few inches on Mac and you can definitely see a line if you look carefully
These are very hard cars to restore so don't get discouraged, take your time and have fun. I've walked away from this car several times when I stopped having fun.
It was fun, some of the event stuff was a bit boring. I could do without the banquet for example. But the car display was epic and of course meeting lots of car people.
Congrats, Tom. That's really awesome. So many great cars and yours' was right there with them. I had the Spitfire out today and saw an old 911 parked in a trailer park...going to go back and take a look at that soon!
Enjoying seeing you enjoying the (nearly) finished car. What a journey. Thanks for all your informative 356 videos. So useful. Envy your California weather. Greetings from Denmark.
How is that we arrived on time and we're out in the overflow? Plenty of great T6's I guess. Sorry I missed you, we mostly hung out in the tent and wandered around
Another question, how many 356 owners came from the VW community ? How many current VW owners will see the Air cooled Porsche as their holy grail in future ?
@@GarageTimeAutoResto I am well over 50 and agree that getting younger people into the 356 world is needed for the hobby to continue and thrive. 356's used to be inexpensive but given the cost of 356's now I don't know the solution. Great video Tom, and congratulations on your finished project (are our projects ever really finished?) Your car turned out great. BTW, UCSB us my old school too. Hope you got to check out Isla Vista again.
I agree that it's getting hard to find someone to maintain a 356. I wouldn't take mine to a dealer unless I was desperate on a road trip or something. As far as comparing a 993 versus a 356 they are worlds apart😀
Thanks for all your support. If anyone is interested in the cup holder let me know. My friend Cameron is making them for you guys.
Tom looking good!
Your 356 performed amazing and your garage is so nice!!
Keep up the great work!
Thx, things have taken an upturn since you were here last!
excellent
Love that sound. It looks great.
Thx
3:51 The Skirmants are the kindest people and would likely forgive the misspelling of their name 🤭
Oops, I agree they are very nice people. So lucky to hang out with them.

Thank you and please come. I'm born and raised in California feel free to reach out.
Glad to see the milestone Tom.
Thanks 🙏

@@GarageTimeAutoResto The whole front going up the hood. Also the edge of each door. I'll try and take a picture tomorrow.
Your car looks outstanding, Tom. The dark paint really shows off your bodywork.
Thanks and those hub caps♥️♥️
Can't wait for you to make a video on hood alignment and doors. Thanks for the show Tom!
Already made, but I need to edit and take a breather,😀
Congrats Tom !
Good the be reminded that it’s ok for these projects to take many years. You have to keep pushing forward but you don’t have to rush.

Good to see you enjoying your 356 after all these years, I wanted to go but I have a resurrection in work, and no time
Sorry to have missed you, but there will be more good events. Lots of satisfaction fixing these things too.
Congrats, well done to drive there, what an achievement.
Did almost 800 miles with this little car😀
Congratulations! What a great milestone! 😀👍👍
It feels good to be home with memories and not tow truck memories.
Congratulation on your restoration milestone. Looked like a lot of fun. I hope to make to the Holiday soon.

very nice car. I cant wait to finishy 58 sunroof coupe, maybe in 2025.
Best wishes. I hope to finish this car in 2025 also

So many great cars. Many were trailered😀. Glad you are getting your car out too. Say hello to that 911 for me..
@@GarageTimeAutoResto Will do! So glad to know that you aren't driving a trailer queen...but I never thought you would, anyway!

Thanks, these cars are awesome to drive.
We were parked in the same row, two cars down. Your car was the fifth of five SCs in a row and looked as good as the rest!
How is that we arrived on time and we're out in the overflow?
Plenty of great T6's I guess. Sorry I missed you, we mostly hung out in the tent and wandered around
Amazing car and congrats
Thanks!
Looking amazing…
Swedish enthusiast
Thanks, always want to visit Sweden
I used to have a BW Beetle too😂
Many of us stay with VW. Karmann ghia are not that different than a 356 to be honest. Mine had an 1835 and went fast enough
Another question, how many 356 owners came from the VW community ?
How many current VW owners will see the Air cooled Porsche as their holy grail in future ?
I still go to VW events occasionally because they are more fun and most are owners/builders which I admire.
Sound just like a VW Beatle. Just say'n...
Hmm, I wonder where Ferdinand got the idea to build these cars?
Does anyone under 50 own a 356?
Ugh, this is THE problem.
I am 40 and I own a 356 :)

I did. I lived on Trigo, Sabado Tarde, and Del Playa for a summer. So fun
