      @@raycaruso8026 You can use this as an appetizer, a side dish or a light lunch. I like to add vegan sausage for a really hearty meal.

      @@raycaruso8026 You can make anything a meal, you don't have to have a hunk of meat or bread next to it for it to be a meal. Peppers, onion garlic and potatoes is a meal, but of course as long as it's not EVERY meal. You don't have to have all food groups every time you eat, you can do it throughout the day. Eating meat, carbs, potatoes, real veggies, fruits, etc for every meal would just make you sick. Unless of course you are eating veggies, fruit, lean meats and healthy grains in the appropriate portion, which most people don't.

      Very similar to a recipe I found for boiling water. Boil the hell out of it. When it starts to bubble, it's ready.

    It was one of my childhood dishes. Mum still cooks it. The only difference is garlic's skin peeled off. Sometimes she adds1 spoon red pepper puree. Forgot to say, I'm from Turkey.

    I just love the simplicity of all of these recipes. The food is SO clean yet sooo flavorful and also so easy and so cheap. This is my go-to channel for when I know i want something to eat but I don't know what I want. LOL It honestly doesn't take long at all to whip up one of these delicious recipes. Although many of these recipes seem vegan already, the recipes that are not vegan are SO easy to make vegan. Spain on a Fork never disappoints. Additionally, I would love for you to know...in your honor, we are having a "Spain on a Fork" tapas party. Some friends and I will enjoy your cuisine and have a great time.

      @@chrsyates I know you aren't making them NOW but you probably could add any seasonings you like! Paprika would probably pair well since most of his dishes use paprika, and you could add whatever you like on potatoes! Not much doesn't go with garlic, onions, bell peppers and potatoes. A very good staple that is versatile. This recipe is so simple and probably great on it's own, too!

      Cow milk gives beef smell. It is the by product of animal. It is not vege item. Vege item ,only come from plants.

      @@fshs1949 we, vegetarian Indians use milk and milk products lavishly in our food and don't consider it as non veg even though it is an animal product. Milk does not smell like beef.

    Add a tbsp of coriander powder and a tsp of cumin powder towards the end. And garnish at the end with a lot of cilantro. Now you have a classic indian dish....

    Made this today, Thanksgiving, in place of husband’s EXCELLENT Mashed potatoes as he agreed to give it a try!! HE LOVES THIS DISH!! He said it is better than the mashed potatoes!! What I like the most is that it is infinitely LOWER IN CALORIES than mashed potatoes. He had never had Yukon Gold potatoes and just loved them. I had your video running while making for step by step instructions so I wouldn’t mess up. It came out beautifully and we both loved the full garlic clove to just pop in and eat!!! THIS is a new favorite in my home and I KNOW I will be making this many more times. Oh, when he heard you say put it with eggs in the morning his eyes lit up!! Said, I’m doing that tomorrow!! As you can tell... this was a mega HIT in our home! You are a favorite now and I will be looking for more wonderful recipes!!

    The Indian equivalent of Poor Man's potatoes is poorer than this. Just potatoes, salt and a few other condiments like turmeric/ chillies/cumin

    Growing up in the 50s and 60s my mum had 6 children to feed you had to eat what was put in front of you no microwave meals etc just good home cooked food that was filling and not costing a lot of money

      ​@@Michael-rr8ez Pretty much! I often have enough to share, but sometimes the hens go on strike for a few weeks. It is possible to preserve the surplus though by putting fresh newlaid eggs in a bucket of limewater, and they keep for a year if necessary.

    This has been a Sunday breakfast side dish in my family for decades. We dice all the ingredients. I somethings add sliced kielbasa.

      You can sometimes find roasted cloves of garlic as an appetizer. They're fantastic, and they spread like butter.

      Roasted garlic has a very mild taste and a beautifully creamy texture. Try it: it's very different from raw garlic.

    Great video, Chef. I have been making this dish for many years, as my waistline can testify. I tend to add some smokey bacon to the recipe, as it gives it a more interesting taste. Being a Welshman, I guess my recipe is Welsh potatoes. 😁

    This is also what they eat in Calabria, southern Italy. I grew up with this. We also used to put it cold on bread as a "poor mans lunch". Very, very tasty!

    I grew up having Patate alla Povera on a regular basis, sometimes with a sliced hot Hungarian, or some paprika, or a diced tomato that would caramelize a little with the onions and peppers. This is a great dish and you did an awesome job! Subscribed!
