  • I bought a 2002 Honda Rebel 250 (CMX250C) that is 20 years old, but only has 1888 miles on it. It hasn't been on public streets for more than a decade. The previous owner did take it on the occasional spin around the development. The lack of use has taken a toll on this bike, though. The chain is black with ole lube and grime. Time to give it a good cleaning and apply some wax lube.

@arincapaul9707 that's great! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. It's hard to believe these are 20 years old!

@TheFixitShed I have been thoroughly enjoying my rebel, my only complaint is the engine vibration in the foot pedals. Going to try and put some rubber washers on the bolt mounts to try and get the vibration down.

Thank you! They are fun bikes. I just picked up a 2004 that needs some work, so you can expect some videos on that coming soon.

How did the wax lube perform for you? I've got the same bike with the same low miles/ low use scenario.

I like it so far, I can feel that the chain is still a bit tacky, so I know the wax line is still on there, and there doesn't seem to be a buildup of grime on the chain.

I don’t have a jack is there another way I can do this?

The bike isn't too heavy, a couple people could lift it while another puts the blocks underneath, but I would recommend getting a jack I also made a video about the stand I built to keep the bike stable. It would be nice if the bike had a center stand. That would make it much easier.
