Before I had a bottle of this, I was laser-focused on finding it and having it. I finally got my own bottle by lucking out by being at Buffalo Trace distillery for a tasting on a day when you could get it there. And now? I don’t plan to seek this out anymore. Your review was spot on: its good and all but for $60 or less I can get far more interesting bourbons far easier. It’s really not worth stressing over. Try it, enjoy it, please stop acting like it’s the greatest bourbon ever. Maybe Blanton’s Straight from the Barrel IS the greatest though... ;) can’t wait to see THAT review! Great uncorking as usual!
I love the segment on describing “Smooth”. You both nailed it perfectly on how it doesn’t really help describe anything. I’m going to work at describing bourbon better being a bit more specific on why it’s so smooth. I look forward to tasting the new bottle very soon. Thank you Chad and Sara 🥃🥃
I greatly enjoy Blantons. Enjoyed your explanation and discussion on smooth. I would pay a little more than retail for sharing the pleasant experience with others.
My experience with Blantons is very good. What it does is…. It’s great for beginners and more advanced drinkers . It does so many things well. Awesome great jumping off point . Also a great bourbon to compare to others . Almost a bourbon standard. It never lets me down.
I love how Sara handles Chad in general, as shown @1:15: Acknowledged lovingly but also "I'm not going to react to that because that'll just encourage you." What a babe.
Good Things come to those who wait. Hi Guys, Mark here in NC. here in NC we get deliveries twice a month and ABC stores are where the bars get their spirits from so trying to get allocated Bourbon here is hard enough. Unless you own a bar, an ABC Store or are in very tight with owners your task is a difficult one. last delivery day I kicked myself for leaving Old Fitzgerald BIB 9 year on shelf for $96. Well it paid off today I walked in and go a Stagg Jr, Elmer T Lee and an E H Taylor Barrel Proof. I feel like i hit the lotto. Just wanted to share, luv your channel and your reviews influence a lot of my purchases.
I totally agree on your assessment. I grab it when I find it at MSRP just because it's nice to have one on the shelf and when I have friends/guests they freak out over it. Of the mashbill 2s, only RHF, Blanton's Gold, and SFTB have wowed me.
I just got a 375ml bottle of Blanton's derby edition that a friend was lucky to score the week before the derby at Buffalo trace, and it's my first bottle of Blanton's and first time trying it. In Ohio I've been "searching" for a bottle for a year (for retail), but have never seen it listed in stock anywhere even remotely close to me. I like it quite a bit, though I've only been drinking bourbon for a couple years, and only been buying and trying lots of varieties often poverty the past year or so since I went to Louisville and toured Woodford Reserve and Four Roses. I just wish it was easier to find at retail because it tastes good to me, the bottle is cute (and I'm definitely a sucker for good looking bottles), and I might occasionally pick one up if it were accessible. I was kind of hoping to hate it. 😅😆
I’m a Blanton’s fan for sure , and have definitely paid over msrp for bottles when I find them. I know most reviewers are usually underwhelmed, and can recommend a dozen other bourbons that could easily take its place, but it’s actually quite common to see that in most blind flight tests, up against some other very reputable names, Blanton’s seems to claim victory quite often. Interesting 🧐
Finally got my hands on one recently ($70). I have been trying to find the right occasion to uncork it. I know that the juice won't be the best I have had for that price point, but I do want to try it once.
My first time in Kentucky around 2014 I remember going to a Rite-Aid in Lexington and being blown away by the fact they had bourbon. I'm in NC so seeing any liquor outside of a state store is a treat but seeing at a drug store was just so foreign to me.
It is a leftover from prohibition with “medicinals” being available in a drug store. When they abolished prohibition, the law remained on the books to allow alcohol sales from drug stores in KY.
This bottle is 149$ around my parts (outside US), so all bourbon is more expensive. At that price it is a good bourbon, but others I can get for 60-80 are just as good, and I can get them whenever, not like once a year.
I would like to see a side to side comparison of Blanton's Single Barrel from one year to the next. I was gifted a Blanton's from 2022 for Christmas. I still had some Blanton's 2021. I found the taste to be similar but there were also a noticeable difference between the two to my taste buds.
I did find my first bottles for just over $60. Limit 2. Certainly after trying it, I can say it's a 'bucket list' bourbon at this point. It's fine but I won't be looking to buy more when mine are empty.
Love the channel. I really enjoy Blanton's... even more so when I can find it at MSRP. I find tons of honey in the nose and taste as well as cherry vanilla cream. to quote Daniel Whittington, "very pretty."
Hey guys! I just got gifted 2 bottles of Walker Deluxe 8 year old Bourbon. I can't find much info on them but they seem to be older bottles from 60s or 70s. Ever had it before?
Didn’t want to open my 2015 bottle, so drinking the overseas 103 proof version I do have open. Enjoy it better I must say. Would love to get a SFTB bottle.
Great video as always! I found my first bottle of blantons last month here on Whidbey Island Washington for 70. I did pay up because I have never had it. Definitely one of the sweetest bourbons I have ever had. It is so good though. Btw, where so yall get those t shirts that say corn, rye, water, and barley?
Hard to find in Indiana but when I see it I can get it for $53. Had a chance to buy it yesterday for $78 and I passed on it. Great bourbon but I wouldn’t pay a dime over $60. Cheers!

Sometimes you can't, but if your liqour store does a lot of store picks and you have liked them in the past, it will probably be good or fit your flavor profile...
Don't spend $150 for it. You'll be disappointed. You can get either Wild Turkey Rare Breed for around $45-$50 or Old Forester 1920 for around $60, and both are far better bourbons than Blanton's. Blanton's is average at best and not worth the price or constant hunting you need to do to find one.

The only thing that Buffalo Trace makes that is also with the mash bill #2 and is available will be Ancient Age 80 or 90 proof. For bourbons that are at least 36 months old, the 90 proof isn't that bad at all. We wish it was a little older, but it's decent, especially for the price. Outside of the distillery, we would recommend Evan Williams Single Barrel. Not quite there on proof, but tasty.

But I frankly have no intention of paying 350 dollars 5 years from now when its at a truly asinine point I also feel like as a noob its in my right to slightly over pay for things until I have more experience to go off. Lets just say ill never pay close to 150CAD for Hibiki ever again ;)
Had a chance to try this at a restaurant. Have to admit I was underwhelmed by it. A bit too sweet for my taste, too mellow. Going to have to try more bourbons eating out before I shell out for expensive bottles.
Just got mine for $140. Very hard to find good whiskey in my area (NorCal) so I've had to learn to bite the proverbial bullet or else I will be spending the same amount of money in gas, just to get to another place where whiskey is better priced lol
The only thing bourbon is good for is to supply aging casks for single malt scotch! And this guy is very fortunate to have one of the most beautiful ladies on the internet !!!
I just watched Freddy j do a tour of some of the metal warehouse. He was saying that they're going to be climate controlled, geared more towards experimental stuff and mass-producing some of their older whiskeys like eagle rare
Love Blanton's!!!! Not happy with the rise in price though smh. Cheapest I've seen so far in NYC,, $100.00 smh. Glad i had stocked up and bought bottles in Jersey at $58 a bottle. Crazy.
Matthew Morin, yup, if you put that liquid in another bottle, and told anyone (more than a month in to their bourbon journey) that it was priced at $60, they would laugh out loud.
I’ve had Blanton’s a couple of time in the last year and it was okay. Not $70+ okay, but okay. I was one of my local liquor stores yesterday picking up a bottle of Buffalo Trace and they informed me they had Blanton’s that hadn’t been unboxed yet. Price was $68. I couldn’t bring myself to buy it because I’d never been impressed. As Sara said, might as well leave it for someone who appreciates it more than me. If it was priced the same as Buffalo Trace (I paid $27), I’d think about keeping a bottle around. I still made a bad money decision though. I’d been wanting to try a bottle of Remus Repeal Reserve and they had release II available for the overpriced price of $103. I cringed and pulled the trigger. Dammit. It’s just average and I’m hoping against hope that it opens up into something more special. I’m a big fan of the regular George Remus and had high hopes, quickly dashed hopes.
Elmer T Lee's and now Blanton's?? Are you trying to make the rest of the country jealous? I haven't been able to find either of those near me for a few years now!
Tasting the Blanton's Gold Edition in Scotland a few years ago ruined my taste for just the small batch. I would have thought more of their company (Age International) and their Bourbon had they have sold entire line-up to us mere Americans instead of just their "entry-level" hootch that's going for way more than I'll ever pay for.
Actually the only different between the 93 proof and the 103 proof Gold is the proof. Both are single barrels that come from Warehouse H at Buffalo Trace.
To try and define smooth while NOT defining "character" is hypocritical IMO. Smooth would be as you said, the absence of burn essentially. What is "character" b/c that should encompass ALL things to describe the drink, should it not?
Totally agree. I can get Eagle rare for 30 most the time and it’s got a 10 year age statement and much more going on flavor wise. I won’t say it’s “better” than Blantons, but i don’t know that anyone could convince me Blantons I’d worth 2x the money of Eagle Rare, and you can’t get Blantons for $60 any more anyway.
Love me some blantons. My buddy said he may have secured a bottle of blantons gold for me. Very excited 😁

Had a chance to try this at a restaurant. Have to admit I was underwhelmed by it. A bit too sweet for my taste, too mellow. Going to have to try more bourbons eating out before I shell out for expensive bottles.
It might be unpopular but I’d rather have another warehouse for eagle rare than I would blantons.
All types of BT products will be coming from their new warehouses. I would imagine all of their different mash bills are being stored there.
Just got mine for $140. Very hard to find good whiskey in my area (NorCal) so I've had to learn to bite the proverbial bullet or else I will be spending the same amount of money in gas, just to get to another place where whiskey is better priced lol
W.O.W.
The only thing bourbon is good for is to supply aging casks for single malt scotch!
And this guy is very fortunate to have one of the most beautiful ladies on the internet !!!
Disagree, but only about the first part of your comment 😉.
The most delicious whisky I've ever had is bourbon. 🙂
heaven hill supplied you with a bottle of blanton's? :o
Crazy.
Where in NJ?
i found this at whole foods last summer....
#NuttySquad
Would you buy it for $60 in a no-frills bottle? The bottle is worth $45.
$45 maybe still too much.
@@matthewmorin7016 I really meant the bottle was worth $45. The juice is worth $15
If you could look any more like Paul teutul Jr from American choppers in this video it would be impossible
the last bottle I had tasted watered down....but that's just me
Or... $170 in some places in Orlando lol
Yep orlando $159
Last bottle I bought was $75... I would not likely do that again
John Wick isn’t helping the hype train lose steam 😅
Smooth means less burn...that’s all that seems to matter to some people
Michigan. $99
Tried a sample of this earlier this year. Don't understand the hype, it's incredibly average.
Henry mckenna 10 yr shits on this
Blantons tastes best on the rocks to me
People in California charge $150+
$150 in Cali
Blanton's is John wicks preferred bourbon it's what he drinks in the medicine scene
Smooth to most = low proof
I’ve never seen this outside of a bar. It’s scarcity is what drives it imo. If this was at Walmart would anyone talk about it?
To try and define smooth while NOT defining "character" is hypocritical IMO. Smooth would be as you said, the absence of burn essentially. What is "character" b/c that should encompass ALL things to describe the drink, should it not?
Seems like all the mashbill 2 are single barrels
All except Ancient Age.
@@ItsBourbonNight you're right!
Blandton's
Ultra over hyped. I actually prefer regular buffalo trace over it lol
Absolutely. I've done a few few blind tastings with the two and every time I have chosen the buffalo trace over the blanton's.
I picked up 2 bottles at the distillery a few weeks back not really that good
Blaaa
HahahHhhahahaha.... $60. I never see this bottle and if I do, it isn’t under $150. FML
I'm here because of John Wick.
