After years of my uncle bragging about blanton's because he has an expensive taste for expensive liquor i finally decided to give it a try and let me say I'm glad i did. It may have costed my $75 but it was worth every penny because it's hands down the smoothest, best tasting bourbon I've ever tasted. Hell I'll go as far as say I'll probably never drink another type of bourbon ever again blanton's is the king of bourbon.
Whereas we're very happy you enjoyed it, and I promise we're not trying to be a downer here, we feel we have to point out that Blanton's is a non-age stated single barrel. Single barrel's in general can vary in taste profile, and with it being as popular as it is now and with there being no age statement, they could keep getting younger and younger. Now, if they still taste of the same quality, then no big deal, age is just a number after all, but all we're recommending is to keep checking in on it, and if you ever feel it's just not the same as it used to be, there's plenty of other great bourbons out there. Of course, we hope this never happens and you continue to love it :)
Gotta find out when Buffalo Trace is doing their releases. First or last Saturday’s of the month in my area (Louisville, KY) and stand in line for one. Or pay an outrageous price for it from a shelf depending on area you’re in. Hopefully you’ve got one by now though. Cheers!

I'm in Canada and Blanton's Original and Blanton's Single Barrel Special Reserve are easily accessible at my local liquor store. I prefer them neat, no ice. However, I also enjoy it another way once in awhile that is a bit of a guilty pleasure. One day my (American) uncle was drinking his typical 50/50 mix of Wild Turkey 101 and Wild Turkey American Honey on the rocks. He kind of forced me into trying it (very reluctantly I might add), so I gave in and gave it a shot. I had always completely wrote off sweetened "bourbons" like American Honey as utter crap, but to my surprise, as a mix with another bourbon on the rocks, it was really good! The mix of regular bourbon, along with the honeyed one, made for a super-complex and delicious experience. With both combined on the rocks, the flavours complimented each other and opened up incredibly as the ice slowly melted. I was stunned at how delicious it was. So I tried it again at home with Blanton's Original and it was even more complex and flavourful. It's not something I do very often, but if I mix Wild Turkey American Honey with anything else, it now has to be Blanton's. I've tried it with several other bourbons, but it's just not the same. I was a bit of a bourbon snob until that mix slapped me in the face. lol Now I'd never turn one dawn! The world works in mysterious ways. lol If you ever try it though, try to get a 55/45 mix: that's 55% Blanton's and 45% American Honey. Not 50/50, not 60/40, but 55/45! Get that 55/45 mix just right with the right amount of ice, and you're in for a real treat.
Hi from Canada, Discovered this fabulous Bourbon just a few months ago and love it so much! Everything about this product is excellent, the Bourbon and the bottle is so classy, well done! My bottletop has the letter ‘S’. Really enjoyed the background story about this product.
Just happen to tour Buffalo Trace Distillery while on vacation. Best experience ever! Walked right behind the workers as they bottled Blanton's and had no idea how lucky we were till later. Worker gave my kids each a top, that was so cool. Went to the gift shop where they just put out 6 bottles. Everyone was in a craze to grab one, so I did also not knowing what I was really grabbing. I usually don't spend that much but I thought why not and love sipping and remembering the experience every once in a while!
Wow I learn whisky history today thank you. After I watch this I check all my single barrel and good thing they’re not the same corks. Ready to race baby.
I can’t help but feel that Blanton’s single barrel is sometimes treated like the Johnnie Walker Blue of bourbon. Some act as though it is definitely not worth the trouble, nor the price tag that comes with it. While I am fairly new to the whisk(e)y game, I feel that Blanton’s is most definitely worth the hunt. There is a limit to what I would personally pay for a bottle, but I enjoy it so much, I have paid up to $85 for one. Similarly I have paid the $200 plus for JWB and was thoroughly impressed with my experience. I am lucky enough to have tracked down 3 bottles of Blanton’s in my area at two completely different price points, but to me that’s just part of the fun. Try this bourbon once, and I highly doubt most would be disappointed!
It's Bourbon Night thank you for the response. You all are amazing to watch by the way. Informative and fun. Your videos are literally helping me develop my taste for whiskey/bourbon. I haven’t had the pleasure of tasting Rock Hill Farms, but I hope to one day taste it. Thanks again, great reviews like yours are hard to come by!
I have 4 bottles of Blanton's 2 single and 2 gold in my home bar right now they were all bottled within 8 months of each other and I can say the profiles of the single barrel are almost identical the gold on the other hand noticeably different but still fantastic
I bottle this product daily at BTD...there are 8 stoppers, and little known fact, the "horse" is lined up with the 2 seams on each side of the bottle...cheers!
I can tell you that certain "stopper" letters are not associated with certain barrels, taste profiles, , etc. If you've been on the distillery tour you could see this too. My favorite part of the tour was going through the Blanton's fill/bottling house. You actually get to walk around their small assembly lines, watch the bourbon get dispensed into the empty bottles, watch the labels get applied, and even watch the corks get put on. I chatted with the workers, who were super nice. If you're really nice and are interested in what they're doing, they may even do you a favor -- such as rummage through the box of stoppers on the line, looking for the one letter that you need to finish your collection. That's how I know the thing about certain stoppers not being exclusive to any recipe, barrel, taste, etc. There was one box there full of stoppers. There were stoppers containing all letters in that box. The stoppers were being indiscriminately applied to the bottles as they came down the line. And yes, the distillery WILL mount your full set of stoppers onto an old barrel stave. You can call the gift shop to find out where to send your stopper collection. There's no charge! It took mine about 3 weeks to be returned.
Yes, we've seen the same thing when we've taken the tours over the years. The Blanton's bottling hall is currently not on the tour thought because of COVID restrictions. We'll be glad when they can add it back!
First off, there are 8 letters in Blanton's ...2 N's, one has a hyphen after it....AND little known fact, ( I bottle this DAILY at BTD) the cork is lined up with the 2 seams in the glass line....one glass line on opposite sides of the barrel looking glass......CHEERS!
Yeah, we were counting the total number of letters used to spell the 8 letter word of Blanton's as 7, but looks like you got that. Also, very cool about bottling Blanton's! Very well done! Cheers!

Seems you missed a key fact few people know: Blanton’s isn’t owned by Buffalo Trace or Sazerac. It’s owned by a Japanese Company, Age International. That’s why only one of the expressions is available on US. Sadly, it’s one of the worst expressions. Better than the 80 proof Green, but still thin and boring in comparison to Gold and SFTB.

To answer your questions, my fav could be the Gold Edition, I like to try it neat, or with a few drops of water, and had once a crazy experience with the best (& strongest experience I have to say) Mint Julep I ever had, exceptionally made for me by a great bartender in a Parisian hotel long time ago using....the STFC one (at 130 Proof!)...not for the faint hearted for sure & yes I have to order food after that to be able to move from my chair, lol. It is more responsible to use lower abv ones for cocktail for sure, but that was quite something. Cheers ! PS It was also cool to see one of the French limited editions (with I have to say gorgeous sceneries on the label) displayed here, much appreciated (as we French alas don't find here a lot of US whiskeys reviewed in US YT Whisky channels...especially the "bottles in bond" that seem very appealing from a lot of distilleries, so, for once it's the contrary).

So far my current favorite Blanton's is the Gold. I have yet to try any of the SFTB Blanton's but, I'm sure when I do, I'll have a new favorite Blanton's. Fortunately and unfortunately they're not all the same proof so I can have one favorite SFTB and then never have it again. Either way, I can't wait to try one and I also in no way am putting down the original Blanton's single barrel.
Good video guys just brought the green special reserve for $60 ish here in australia now im bringing the over 90 proof one which comes at $80- $90 but personally i think prices are extremely hyped here in australia hence why the wild turkey 101 wins it with me for $57 allthou i do enjoy the russells reserve single barrel goin for $77- $80..or rare breed for $80- $90 .just brought a blanton's straight from the barrel for $170..yep i dont want 2 open it..from a drinker/collector point what if it can be worth alot more in the future for our childrens generation to benifit..curious what have yous been tucking away...whats in your collection.you know explaining off why you've kept it.. from a collector point of view..should do a video on what bottles you haven't opened keeping to benifit off it for the future..pass down..family tresure..sometimes i like 2 search up collection videos ..just thought i havnt seen you's do one .i know people dont wanna be seen as a flipper but you know its ok 2 collect right..
Very interesting, thanks!! Btw, regarding the theory that people skew the distribution of available lettered-bottles due to being adamant about looking for a particular letter, that mathematically doesn't justify the rarity of any letter. That is, assuming the distribution of letters truly is uniform, then the random subset of people who look for any particular letter is also uniform. Thus, the remaining batch of letters would still be evenly distributed.
I got a bottle as a gift a few years ago that was picked by the liquor store I frequent (each bottle they had, had a sticker on it showing that barrel was handpicked by the owner). I was immediately hooked and havent been able to find a bottle in Wisconsin since! I was told there was a shortage. Is it becoming easier to find yet?
Eric Luther Buffalo Trace is amping up production, but in the bourbon world, it takes years to see those efforts, so it’s still going to take a while before you see it around like you used to.
If you have all of the stoppers you can mail them into Buffalo Trace Distillery and they’ll mount them all on an old bourbon barrel stage for FREE and mail them back for FREE. I have it displayed in my bar. It’s a beautiful piece.
I've always got the impression Blanton's was more marketed for international markets then the domestic US market. Blanton's original is generally available in Canada along with the special reserve with the Gold popping up a few times a year (the Gold is the best IMO). I know it's also widely available in a lot of European markets and like you guys have pointed out Australia gets a lot of exposure with Blanton's as well.
I can usually find at a Total Wine in Texas. Just have to ask the manager when their Buffalo Trace delivery is, and then get there 15-30 mins before they open on the day of. With a little dedication, it can be had! Good luck, and cheers! :)
At the risk of being lynched, one thing I discovered about Blanton's after buying a bottle of the Gold is that I don't like it...I found it bland and quite flavourless. An expensive lesson.
Trying to find if this is true so maybe someone here can tell me. Is it true if you collect all 8 bottles they’re worth a lot more as a whole set if you try to sell them?
My favorite expression? I guess the original Blanton's, since it's the only one we can get here in the USA.....where they are all made......and the one we can get is almost impossible to get.
After years of my uncle bragging about blanton's because he has an expensive taste for expensive liquor i finally decided to give it a try and let me say I'm glad i did. PS It was also cool to see one of the French limited editions (with I have to say gorgeous sceneries on the label) displayed here, much appreciated (as we French alas don't find here a lot of US whiskeys reviewed in US YT Whisky channels...especially the "bottles in bond" that seem very appealing from a lot of distilleries, so, for once it's the contrary).
do all variations of Blantons come with the black velvet bag?
You forgot another fact - it's almost impossible to find.
Tell me about it. I’ve got a bottle right now that basically just sits in my liquor cabinet. I’m afraid to drink it because then it will be gone :(
Ive got two opened bottles .and would like to sell them..
i got 6 from the distributor 2 weeks ago, now that i have it, no one wants it
@@johnniebee4328 No lie? All sealed? How much are you asking for one?
@@tacticalsweater5119 I'm selling the first two at 61.99 then I'll probably go up. As a New York State retailer I can only sell to live customers , no shipping or anything like that. I'm in between Rochester and Buffalo
I'm a member of the Blanton family and my great grandfather was a moonshiner
So far my current favorite Blanton's is the Gold. I have yet to try any of the SFTB Blanton's but, I'm sure when I do, I'll have a new favorite Blanton's. Fortunately and unfortunately they're not all the same proof so I can have one favorite SFTB and then never have it again. Either way, I can't wait to try one and I also in no way am putting down the original Blanton's single barrel.
Awesome and very informative video!
The now I know why I love Blanton’s so much.
BACON 😁
Yas
I really enjoyed this and Id love to see more videos like this.
Ah since one available in us... I'd say regular is my favorite expression.
Being from the UK I love the fact that we get all the good Blantons, Great video by the way, we all need more whisk(e)y facts
I like this format!
Blanton's is coming back to liquor stores, but for some reason the $30 Buffalo Trace is super rare
Very cool format for a video. Do more!
I have all four available here in Oz and just managed to collect all eight stoppers.
If you have all of the stoppers you can mail them into Buffalo Trace Distillery and they’ll mount them all on an old bourbon barrel stage for FREE and mail them back for FREE. I have it displayed in my bar. It’s a beautiful piece.
Love the history.
Great video!!! Really enjoyed it😀
I've always got the impression Blanton's was more marketed for international markets then the domestic US market. Blanton's original is generally available in Canada along with the special reserve with the Gold popping up a few times a year (the Gold is the best IMO). I know it's also widely available in a lot of European markets and like you guys have pointed out Australia gets a lot of exposure with Blanton's as well.
Ryan Meema Australia has a phenomenal market & the Bundaberg ginger beer is to die for.
I import this every now & then; it’s really good!
I adore Blanton's! My bottle certainly did not last very long!
Sara, I love that photo of you in glasses. This is a great video!!!
Monica Willits Thanks, Monica!
Neat, rocks & as an old fashioned too! Never disappoints 🥃
I love this bourbon so much but they are making so little and hard to find, dose anyone knows why they are not selling them in big stores anymore.
I can't ever find this in central Texas. Anyone know where to find Blanton's in Texas?
Following
I can usually find at a Total Wine in Texas. Just have to ask the manager when their Buffalo Trace delivery is, and then get there 15-30 mins before they open on the day of. With a little dedication, it can be had! Good luck, and cheers! :)
I can help you if you want....
Nice info. One of my favs.
By chance, y'all haven't done one of these for EHT. GTS, ETL, etc. and I missed it, have you? Would be really cool if you did! Cheers!
I know one thing. It's impossible to get the straight from the barrel version in the UK
I can help you. What you say? That's if you haven't found it yet...
Blanton's neat & it does seem difficult to find the different ones
Nice new feature. Keep them coming!
I will drink it neat when I can find it again. Hard to even find it or Trace in even large markets in southern Ohio.
I can help you find it. That's if you are still looking for it...
great video. neat is the only way.....
Super nice job.
you know when you go to a liquor store in the hood and find 2 bottle for 49 bucks. I just did yesterday. lol Love it..
Jesus man where you live at they always sold out
I only have one bottle. It has an N on the topper. Drinking it neat only. Didn’t realize each toppers horse was in a different pose.
and when you take the bt basic tour they tell you not to steal a cap. True that. LOL
At the risk of being lynched, one thing I discovered about Blanton's after buying a bottle of the Gold is that I don't like it...I found it bland and quite flavourless. An expensive lesson.
Need to restock will go to the distillery when it becomes available
Why isn’t your Silver Edition popped open yet?
Bourbon _ern Waiting for the wedding.
Awesome video
I don't enjoy the US stock Blantons. The SFTB is very good though. I don't understand why its not offered in the US.. it would fly off the shelf!
Asian customers are willing to pay more for it, and there is limited quantities. The American consumer tends to be more of a fanatical cheapskate.
Neat...the ONLY way to enjoy a good bourbon.
Some good bourbon, that's for sure!
Denzel Washington end scene in Inside Man (Superb Performance) With Christopher Plummer. Blanton's showing on Bar cart. Plummer pours from a decanter.
Bacon would be his middle name!! Murica!!
My wife says great video and definitely enjoy with Bacon, to pay tribute…lol.
