I've been drinking Maker's for years! It is my go to bourbon. It is a "wheated" bourbon whereas other might use rye or more corn or more barley, the addition of wheat makes the flavor unique. If you ever get the chance, take the tour of the distillery...You can get a tasting room drink of some special Bourbons that you just cannot buy. It's like candy alcohol, beyond smooth.

You might also like Irish Whiskeys as they have a fruity or shortbread cookie notes. The other thing about makers is that they have a very consistent product that they intentionally over priced the market. That was literally their advertisement. "it is expensive"

    I'm a fan of Makers.
I will point out that the soft winter wheat is not traditional, the majority of bourbons use rye instead of wheat to create a spicier pour.
Other well known "wheaters" include Larceny, Rebel Yell, and (of course) the mythical Pappy Van Winkle.
I believe that Makers Mark is unique in moving each barrel during the aging process.

Maker Mark is rather unique as a bourbon. Most bourbon are made of at least 51% corn, mandated by law like the video said, then barely, and rye. Makers Mark replaces the rye with wheat and is a member of the wheated bourbon class of whiskey. Replacing rye with wheat makes a significantly smoother whiskey to the taste lessening the burn and other harsh tastes. I prefer wheated bourbons for mixing drinks to taste more of the drink than the burn since most people, including myself, cant make a balanced cocktail.

Visited Gleneagles a few years back and ordered a take away curry for the team. Decided on the way into to get the take away all would enjoy a Dram to wash the meal down with, got into Auchterarder found the 'offie' (off-licence) and asked for some monkeys shoulder - was presented with a fine bottle of Makers Mark which I bought without thinking twice. I can 'just' tell the difference between Monkey's Shoulder and Makers Mark. having been introduced in the 90's to Maker mark it has a great nose, is fine against the pallet and a superb after meal treat that relaxes and rewards. The team were intrigued by this US water of longevity and over the years I have seen makers mark in their home collections. It is completely unpretentious and a fine Bourbon for all to enjoy.
