This movie is strictly for the kids who grew up with mortal kombat. In our eyes it was like magic on the screen and the memories will live on forever! Along with the music of course!
As an adult I still get that surge when the soundtrack kicks in. Makes me tremble with the desire to fight and conquer that I had as a 7 yr old watching the movie for the first time.

I'm gonna be honest, Sub Zero's manipulation of water molecules was visually very well done for the time. The fight with Scorpion was awesome IMO...at the beginning I was like "hmmm, it's gonna be better than the previous one"...poor me hahaha
This counter midair front-flip 2:02 was Scorpions most impressive feat. You can tell how janky it was to execute, but it's still awesome move nonetheless

In this movie, it was a fun Easter egg because you know scorpion is about to do his front flip kick. But lo and behold, sub zero does the move too! But of course scorpion still does it better, and for a split second, the audience thought sub zero might get the edge.

I understand he's not too happy with Shao Khan's designs, so he tried to help Earth warriors, he even mentions it. And remember Liu saves Sub-Zero from falling the cliff, which could set things right between them. Maybe the writers were just concerned with an excessive number of protagonists. Anyway, the script could just bring him at the end, to a new fight against Scorpion. Same for bring Nightwolf too, in an all-out Earth attack against Khan's minions. I honestly like the movie but the script just doesn't make much sense.

J,J Perry (Scorpion) has done a lot of Double Stuns work, and also appeared in Mk Conquest playing Sub-zero and many works itself, there is even a video where Chuck Norris is recognizing him for being a good "martial artist "
The costumes looked much better in the first movie. Not sure why they chose to make the suits look like plastic in the 97' movie. Even scorpion's face shield looks worse.
@@RawDawg903 3 things... 1. Scorpions mask doesn’t look that bad, they tried their best to make it look like the one in MK gold. 2. I think their costumes are made out of some type of foam. 3. While the first movie costumes of the two do look cool, they only changed the mask so they still sorta look like Palette swaps. With this movie, they try to make their costumes a little more unique. Scorpions costume looks like his MK3 costume but with his MK Gold mask, while Sub Zeros costume has a arrow pattern going down it with a more aerodynamic mask. You see where I’m getting at here.

The rest had quick-cuts, fast-edits and a lot of camera movement so you couldn't see anything. Also, Kano was the only likable character and he was the VILLAIN!

I just realized that Scorpion tried that same front kick into that backflip kangaroo kick to Johnny Cage in the first movie! Marvelous how Scorpion countered his old tricky kangaroo kick by preemptively front flipping over and on top of it! 🔥🔥

I unironically love this movie. People may think I'm joking but I'm dead serious, I LOVE this movie. I think the reason I love it so much is because when I was younger my family didn't have much and there was very few movies we had to watch, So for a while I only watched this movie, Freddy VS Jason, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space. I've pretty much have all 3 of these movies memorized, but still I'm proud to admit I love this movie.
^ This. To me as a ten year-old, it was pretty much satisfaction enough that "they made this cool movie about Mortal Kombat Trilogy." I enjoyed it to the end. Indeed, even back then I was bothered by Shao Kahn's execution of Rain & Jade, Sheeva's quick death, the childish dialogue etc. but the sheer MK-related context of the movie made up for that.

Another fact is that all magic foreign to the Nether Realm gets drained the longer they're in there. It's not because Sub-Zero has cryomancy. Everyone else is affected by it too like Ermac and Raiden.
and that’s why all the people in the nether realm fight scorpion without noticing that there powers are draining every second while Scorpion gets some power filling every second. Btw why is Scorpion’s combos in MK9, MKX, and MK11 so freaking easy? I’m guessing it’s because of the fact that Scorpion is Ed Boon’s favorite character.

@Cobra Kai This fight looks like a power rangers fight. Both fighters look very stiff and their movements mechanical. They are not fluid at all.

2. I think their costumes are made out of some type of foam.
3. While the first movie costumes of the two do look cool, they only changed the mask so they still sorta look like Palette swaps. With this movie, they try to make their costumes a little more unique. Scorpions costume looks like his MK3 costume but with his MK Gold mask, while Sub Zeros costume has a arrow pattern going down it with a more aerodynamic mask. You see where I’m getting at here.

And with that scene, the budget was blown.

I unironically love this movie. People may think I'm joking but I'm dead serious, I LOVE this movie. I think the reason I love it so much is because when I was younger my family didn't have much and there was very few movies we had to watch, So for a while I only watched this movie, Freddy VS Jason, and Killer Klowns from Outer Space. I've pretty much have all 3 of these movies memorized, but still I'm proud to admit I love this movie.

Indeed, even back then I was bothered by Shao Kahn's execution of Rain & Jade, Sheeva's quick death, the childish dialogue etc. but the sheer MK-related context of the movie made up for that.
