after seeing the 2021 version, i have to admit that the fight choreo is not half bad... they actually fight in here. And that soundtrack is pretty fire. Robin Shou is forever Liu Kang

Yes!! Actually i'm usually trashing this film (since when it came out) but it has some good things in it...some fights that actually were ok, music, clothing, etc. Offcourse i was pissed of at the time, because my standards about martial arts, and MK fighting style are very high, so the fights were (in same cases) extreamely lame, and poor (especially when Sonya fights the ninjas). Jet Li's films were (and still are) the best of the best ...so, they could hire Jet Li's team to produce the fighting coreography. But i have to admit, that these scenes in this video along with the fight that cames next (sub-zero vs scorpion) were ok.

The only thing is it was because of him that Scorpion and Sub-Zero (Bi-Han) became enemies. Reason why in MK9 Cyrax and Sektor look down on Scorpion was because he is a Shirai Ryu assassin. In the Mortal Kombat universe there are many rival clans/race, the Shirai Ryu vs. the Lin Kuei, the Shokan vs. the Centaurs, and the Black Dragon vs. the Red Dragon. Even after many generations of feud, these groups are still mere enemies against one another.

This is so inaccurate. Everyone knows that smoke never just throws a missile. He always follows it up with a teleport uppercut, into spear, into homing missile, teleport uppercut. 84% damage minimum.

It's sekktor with smoke entrance . But they couldn't use smoke as he uses a spear and they didn't wanna confuse ppl with him and scorpion in the next fight so gave him a missile. Sekktor would of been better seen as cryax as in it too

Yeah fans of that size are just not practical. Love the fantasy aspect and staying true to her weapons but it looked pretty bad ass at the time. There's no way to actually grip them plus the wind resistance would slow her melee down so much.

We love these movies no matter how good they are, the directors, producers and actors did everything they could do in that period, and all of that in addition to being part of our childhood.
I don't understand why people talk so badly about this movie, it has the best fights in a mortal kombat movie, even better than the first and the reboot, it's more faithful to the characters besides the fact that almost all of them appear in a single movie. I know the special effects and some dialogue are bad but damn it's a movie based on a fighting game! And it's actually not bad as people say

The writing sucked, there are a bunch of errors during the cuts, the movie was overcrowded with champs to the point of off-screen killing them or having them show up for like a minute. There are some hyped fights but most makes no sense and frickin' Brian Thompson refused to keep on the iconic Shao Kahn mask. How is this everything in that period?

As a kid, I liked MK Annihilation a lot better than the first film because it had the characters of Mortal Kombat Trilogy in it. My favorite MK game at the time. Kitana never used her fans in the first movie.
Both the fight scene and stage looks so much cheaper than anything in the first movie. But at least they brought back the actors for Lui Kang and Kitana.

I watched this movie over and over and over as a kid. Idk. It was exciting and entertaining. I think they cast the characters (overall) VERY well based off of the characters in MK1-3 . Like you can’t tell me jax, Shao, Liu Kang, Sindel, Kitana, nightwolf etc didn’t embody the game versions

It's actually Sektor, yes. They accidentally got the wrong costume for him, so they "fixed" it by changing his name to Smoke. That's why he shoots missiles -- because it is, in fact, Sektor.

Smoke and Cyrax were putting in work in this movie. Those scenes, the Sub-Zero/Scorpion fight right after the Smoke fight, Mileena vs Sonya mud fight, and Motaro vs Jax are some of my favorite fight scenes in Annihilation

Well honestly this film brings a lots of memories, i dont get prople who trash this movie. It wasnt bad as they try to describe it, for example i find Street fighter movie far worse and it had even bigger budget than this movie. Choreography is ok, considering fight coreographies in 90s and how they looked like, this movie was revolutuonary.

This fight is the best fight in the entire movie. Cyrax fight is secondary. The fact they made the cyborgs look so cool in this film compare to the games is outstanding. I used to have MK3 move book back in the 90s by Bradeys Games and they had great artwork in it, but in the end this movie far exceeded my expectations with the cyborg ninjas. Scorpion looked cool too, but subzero and scorpion was barely in this. It's just crazy how the first movie was mind blowingly awesome and how this 2nd film had potential but didn't deliever. I like both of them, but the first one was above and beyond, probably part of it had to do with seeing your favorite characters from a video game go from a game to a movie. Either way I'll never forget the impact the first 3 Mortal Kombat games had on society. The new ones. I just don't care so much, part of it because its all 3d, and not what the originals had, which is why the violence was more in the older games, because those will real people in low quality sprites. Kinda like how Duke Nukem 3D probably the best nudity I have ever seen in a video game, and thats what the 90's had. Just aburd crap.
