2:47 I’m actually fine with a metal gear ray being the first boss because it shows how advanced and powerful raidens cyborg body is
funny thing is, the body raiden used at the start was a much more inferior version compared to what he has the rest of the game. his starting body is actually for ''body guard'' and ''humane'' jobs. the body he has at the start isn't much different from the one he had in mgs4. both were very limited in terms of battlefield combat.

*THE MEMES*
@@tezbertzero1915 the DNA of the souls
x to doubt
Honestly, I was expecting that to take a sin off. How often does a video game reference actual Meme Theory?
You should deduct that sin for using child brains. It actually makes perfect sense. Younger brains generally have a superior learning curve, while being easier to psychologically condition into enjoying the virtual reality simulations that they claim to train those brains with. Additionally children tend to be more imaginative than adults and tend to think outside the proverbial box better. The hardest part of the whole affair, is convincing them, it's just a video game.
And hey, they didn't *just* make up the Jack the Ripper persona for Raiden at that point. That persona has been repeatedly referenced and discussed as part of his child soldier origin story, and a part of his past that he has tried to leave buried, ever since MGS 2, when the character first debuted.
Also Sundowner literally said that he was impressed by how Raiden turned out to be, and decided to use the same methods on kids to basically make himself an army of unstoppable killers. However, since having so many child soldiers run so many missions on real people would be impossible (and extremely expensive), he just cased the brains and bought each one an Oculus Rift with Killzone included for christmas.
They can control the brain and transfer thoughts, it isnt a stretch to believe that they can simply insert those experiences into their existing soldiers.
children do not tend to be more imaginative than adults. they just dont know what stupid is yet. you ever listen to a 5 year old tell a stroy?
@Letener Terim
Not at all, his VR training only began after he joined Fox Hound. He had been an actual child-soldier in his actual childhood with a notoriously high kill-count using a combat knife.
@@Alexander59059 And who's to say they will be able to adapt to those new experiences? That's why the capacity of learning that kids have is necessary
8:55 One might be surprised to know that liquid nitrogen is indeed involved in oil refining process.
Yep I am aware of this fact
Ok so I’m not an expert at the oil refinery process, but I feel like it used either for cooling the equipment or for the nitrogen itself (liquid nitrogen is way denser than gaseous nitrogen). Am I fairly right or terribly wrong in this situation?
@@warlynx5644 you could use it to "flash freeze" a petroleum derivative, because the refinery got several huge constantly heating stacks water isn't viable at all (like not even in your dreams not viable)
What?
Huh. I always wondered what Liquid Nitrogen's used for, so I learned something today.
As far as cybernetic upgrades go:
Raiden's body was originally amputated below the lower jaw a while ago, hence the faint line on his face in the intro. And that eyepatch is actually a "compound eye" of sorts. Raiden apparently tried to use a normal prosthetic eye, but he preferred to go with the compound thingie.
After the loss of eye and the next mission Doktor was unable to make a good eye for raiden. In a codec call with doktor it was mentioned that a normal eye if put on raiden wouldn't give him any more upgrade to his perception and that eye cloth has cameras fitted with them giving him about 200 mega pixels of vision in that area. Also raiden found that cool. This was why that eye cloth was used.
When was that?
@@andrewcabral963 you need to make a codec call to Doktor between the new body upgrade and the battle with bladewolf, but you need to make several calls for that to happen.
So yeah, the patch he is using is a compound eye, as they couldn't make a new one that could surpass what it offered on time.
23 sins removed? Damn. You still should have removed 5 sins for rules of nature and 19 for the fight against Armstrong.

"As we stand, I realize, you were just like me, trying to make history"
*Standing here, I realize
Another example is
"I carve my own path you follow your wrath but maybe we are the same
I personally believe that It has to be this way is more related to Raiden and Sam, rather than Raiden and Armstrong because of a few lines
"I carved my own path, you followed your wrath" - Reference to how Sam wanted blood and revenge against the cartels and big companies who send their people to die. (Better explained in the DLC)
"Yet staring across this barren wasted land" - Talks about how they are in the Denver badlands together, staring each other down before the fight.
"I feel new life will be born beneath the blood stained sand" - Again talking about the badlands, but also how Raiden will find new purpose after Sam died, one in which to preserve Sam's legacy.
its not really the cliche tho. they arent saying theyre the same so they should team up, the song is saying that what they do is the same, neither is more right than the other, and thats exactly why they fight. they understand eachother, but that doesnt make them friends

There is one major thing that makes the story more confusing then it needs to: the CODEC calls.
Alot of them actually have story and lore bits sprinkled in them that are supposed to help bring things together. They even mention things like why Raiden needs to rip electrolytes out of people instead of having one built in and why Dolzaev blew himself up and the refinery. Unfortunately in a game where you go around slicing people into thin strips at high octane speeds you don't really care about pausing the game just to have a 2 minute conversation about the lore of post MGS4 Metal Gear.
These are things they need to explain, however it's an action game, I can appreciate the fact that its optinional as it doesnt bog down the pacing, if u wanna learn more, watch the codec, if u wanna slice enemies, keep playing. It's for the best imo
it's like over 6 hours of codec calls. I listened to those in the main menu for like a couple hours and I didn't even notice how long I was intently listening
I know the original MGS games are built around stealth but I really enjoy calling people whenever I can just to get extra info on the world and who the characters are. Rising literally has a Codec call with Kevin explaining in detail how Richard Dawkins idea of Memes work and I love it
Yeah, also how Raiden actually has his both eyes working, or how could Sam make Raiden hear the police officer's thoughts. A lot of sins of this video are explained by the CODEC calls.

I love how Revengence is the most Metal Gear game that wasn't developed by Kojima. It's such a gem from music to the goofy gang of terrorists that we confront. To Armstrong who is such a meme I love Armstrong for that lol
By the way, the part where Raiden can somehow hear people's thoughts is actually part of military strategy involving psychological warfare. Displaying your face across all viable mediums in a large area displays power you probably don't have while sending some sappy voice lines to a codec massacres the hero's mind. Since codecs directly manipulate the tiny bones in the ear, it would feel just like soldiers talking into your head. If nanomachines inhibit fear, there aren't even any thoughts related to it, so there is no way in hell those soldiers' thoughts are going to Raiden through telepathy. No, that whole segment was displaying psychological warfare at its most powerful.
"Raiden is hereby forgiven for Metal Gear Solid 2"
Implying MGS2 was not one of the best games in the series.
That plot was mind blowingly deep.
None of these games are nearly as deep as anyone wants to believe, they just pull twists out of their ass to make it seem that way.
SASMarine
Can’t just let him comment a good thing about a game he likes, eh ?
SASMarine well that was wrong.
@@sayyytttan Sadly it's not - The plots of the games are riddled with holes, the villains for the most part behaving idiotic and actively acting against their plans (MGS1 and 4 are especially guilty of this) only to have great twists at the end, that upon retrospect barely make sense: The FOXHOUND unit fought Snake for their own respective reasons each in MGS1 and tried killing him, despite Liquid requiring the cards and respective info on how to use it in order to even make REX launch ready while Liquid Ocelot in MGS4 basically went on the same trope - going against snake in every possible opportunity to then achieve the ultimate goal in the end not by each piece falling in line like planned in a grand scheme, but by sheer, dumb luck.
MGS2 suffered from basically throwing a bunch of existential questions onto the player at the end without ever truly resolving them in the game. It had great predictions (flood of information) that were on point, but that doesn't make a game deep - only lucky with its story beats. Throwing a bunch of questions in the air, waving your hands around, leaving things open for interpretation going "what does it all mean?" while only giving a basic resolution that teenagers can conclude isn't giving your game depth in story or meaning, but makes it appear deeper than it actually is.
Metal Gear Solid 2 was the first occurrence of the “we live in a society” plot
It's funny how a third of the sins Dartigan mentioned are explained in the CODEC calls, also if you play close attention to the dialogue

I think an ID-locked High-Frequency Blade loses some scientific cutting properties that's applied to it. So if you try to cut a boulder with an ID-locked blade, it's more likely the blade will just get nicked because it will behave like an ordinary sword

The sin 52 is incorrect. Blade wolf didnt like what he was doing, he disliked killing and he was trying to obtain freedom. There's plenty of talk about Bladewolf's freedom and gratitude in the english translation too. The translator in the west works perfectly fine. YOUR MEMES END HERE
Undead Parry Spammer I am Memesoon, the Memes of destruction.
You're wrong. The correct answer is zero.
Metal Gear Rising is a perfect game.
I will fight you if you disagree.
Blade mode is overpowered and turns just about every non-boss enemy into an annoying errand not even the music is able to salvage. Also the combat system, while awesome, doesn't hold a candle to Devil may Cry 3 or 4.
Chris
Blade Mode is in no way overpowered. Yes, you can easily dispatch the weakest enemies, but armoured enemies are ever-present from halfway through the second level onwards. And saying one game is bad, or lesser, because it isn't exactly like another combat system that is subjectively more enjoyable isn't criticism.
Here my nit-pick with the game, it's to short, to linear, most of the stages blend in or look plain with a few exceptions (that VIP room is awesome but short ☹), blocking is way to easy to do and breaks the game once you notice it, and the story is rushed.
Pandoras Angel The game itself is great, but I agree that the level design is extremely obnoxious and linear. This, though, is s reccuring problem at platinum
My one and only real problem with it other than being too short and feeling too rushed and cramped is, it's a metal gear game with a basically non existent stealth system... Although you're using a sword... It somehow manages to make it louder for the whole game
3:34 "Running along the side of a building is apparently faster than running on the ground."
Titanfall players agree.
This game has an obsession with memes.
I love it for that very reason.
i vote resident evil 5 that shit with chris punching that boulder needs to be explained.
Raiden takanawa so explain this to me. the games and live action movies all are filled with ridiculous bullshit and they get shit on but when the 3 CG movies and do the same exact fucking thing no one bats an eyelash.
what I'm asking is, how do you live with yourselves being just as hypocritical as politicians?
557deadpool
never watched them. ignorance doesn't equal hypocrisy. And maybe there are plenty of people who share your opinion here? Maybe they just aren't as vocal.
Raiden takanawa
I failed that sequence twice because I couldn't stop laughing.
"Wait, he's already putting his weight into it. Legs are typically stronger than arms but even that's a moot point. To punch it, you have to stop pushing for a second. but if I stop pushing for a second I die.
WHAT IS HAPPENING? !"
You punch ONE boulder at the end for the game and people act like that's all the game is about.
>_> Have you played Resident Evil 6 on the chris and the other guy that totally bullshits that campaigns ending?
Between the limo and catching his fall on a helicopter, I think it's safe to say that Sundowner has extendo arms.
Mistral is THICC...I paused the video to write this comment
19:16 True, one could still swing it as a regular sword. However without the high-frequency part it'd not be able to cut through metal, cyborg parts and body armor like Raiden has been doing the whole game. Doesn't matter how hard he swings, a regular sword would just break under the force required. So yea, stil usable as a sword, but fat load of good that does against cyborgs he's fighting.
Sam made the "Sword ID locking" talk with Blade Wolf before Raiden arrives. Which implies they were chatting for an unspecified amount of time. Therefore, Sam's statement makes perfect sense (The sword lock can be disabled after a few hours AFTER the talk between Blade Wolf and Sam. Not after Raiden's arrival. The timer wasn't triggered by Sam's death.)
After watching this game sins video I Want to go buy then play this game
It has been on my steam wishlist for a while.
It's one of my favourite games of all time. It's not perfect but you can be 100% sure to have a fun time and an amazing ride!
I got this as a ps+ game and enjoyed it
i need to buy a 360 controller for my pc, because this types of game aren't really build for a keyboard and/or mouse combination.
Tomason Alexander Producciones if you need a cheap controller you can buy a rock candy controller for 25 dollars or try and find one Amazon
Dartigan Sins.
raiden always had a metal Jaw. Actually, the only thing human left of him is his brain and upper skull, i even doubt that tongue he can accidentally chew is organic
Not just brains, he still had the spines, nerve and blood veins, otherwise, he could not feel pain when the pain inhibitor was turned off.
The fact that you didn’t show the cat in the cut scene where raiden is being interrogated by monsoon and Sam is like 60 sins on this Channel
Senator Armstrong is a pun. Ha ha. Because his arms are strong. Do you get it? Ha ha. Ha. Ha HA ha ha... ha.
Mad Bro Sheo can't believe #Dartigan didn't mention that Armstrong doesn't look like a roided Stephen Cobert (I know I misspelled).
Kona- HAHAHAHAA HAHAHA
Shit, the worst is that I agree with this sin.
You're pretty good ..
18:32 "Raiden survives this despite it being an instant game over the entire time he was in Denver up until now."
This game is the literal representation of "bringing a sword to a gun fight", +1 or -1 depending on your standards
LOOOOOOOL you're right! Your comment is severely lacking the proper upvotes.
@@Changetheling let me help fix that then
NANOMACHINES, SON!
*TOTALLY EPIC MUSIC HITS AND HYPES YOUR SHIT*
Btw dragging Raiden through all the bosses was Armstrong's plan, kinda. He needed Jack's persona of the Ripper unleashed, he wanted to plant his idea of fighting your own wars in his head. He probably knew that there won't be a better person to fight the regime than a dude who has been fighting for his survival since childhood.
So Mistral expecting Raiden's arrival is justified.
First sin better be Konami
You were not disappointed
That fakin Profile pic of Hanzo cosplaying Widow maker is glorious but...
Please Hanzo switch.
Close. It was for Konahahahahahaha.
In all honesty, Raiden becoming a new Big Boss would probably be a plot point if a sequel were ever made.
No doubt about it. If you think that Kojima created Raiden to represent the concept of power fantasy and character avatar on a game, and Revengeance is basically that taken to the Platinum extreme, then this Raiden would no doubt be the new Big Boss on the fans' minds.
So in the end he got what he wanted lol.
The cop with the moustache at 13:30. That scene would be the third time you killed that exact cop.
It's worth mentioning that Doktor isn't a part of Maverick
I wonder how many people who played this even knew ''memes'' had a different meaning besides what the internet turned them into?
princeofhalcyon funny enough, this game made me go look up is definition and was surprise to find out it had more meaning.
Religion is the oldest meme.
I must be the only person that'd heard of their 'proper' definition and not the commonplace net ones.
...Damn was I a sheltered kid.
I had a period during adolescence where I was completely obsessed with the Orion's Arm universe, where memetic engineering is one of the most important and influential academic branches in the 'verse for baseline and transapient beings alike. I also learned that Dawkins is a massive dick. The more you know, I guess.
This game?
... or Metal Gear Solid 2? :P
I come back to watch this video from time to time because I truly feel that Dartigan really enjoyed making it, and seeing him having so much fun is totally worth it .
this game is soo cheesy but in the right way. Its amazing to see that it also is in fact a really decent game on its own with good gameplay and decent characters. Nothing amazing, but something that works out really well. Konami better make a good sequel if they plan to continue without the master mind behind it...
Play the sequel on a pachinko machine near you!
Resident Evil 5.
Come on, we need some rock punching sins.
I still think that the plasma lamp with sword hilt in it (that came with the collector's edition), is one of the coolest video game collector's edition items of all time. The aesthetic design, with the "lightning" surrounding the blade was pure genius. That deducted at least 50 sins for just existing.
3:35 - Everyone knows wallrunning is quicker than normal running, bruh have you ever played Titanfall?(/s)
Also do Resident Evil 5 next.
Playin' COD w/ Assad Ironically Dartigan youtube channel was originally gonna be a Titanfall channel before he made it into a gamesins channel after realizing that Titanfall was barely going anywhere
I know, hence the /s
Playin' COD w/ Assad And Prince of Persia, since 2003
Or the wallrun could have been to gain verticality, just saying...
It actually depends....
Aw, no high-frequency wooden sword
Deinzu or solid snake spirt wooden sword
They embarrassed him at his job, they killed the MVP who he was trying to protect, they took his eye, arm and almost his life. Now with a new body, he is out for revenge. Deduct -1 please. 0:12
Agreee
They did remove one at 1:30
For as cheesy as this game is, i actually really liked armstrong as a villain, he had a clear motive, that being to craft a world where everyone is free to bide by their own will, which that in itself is fulfilling his own goal
Actually being cheesy played an important part in why you liked it. Every character in the game is a caricature, to deliver the message and motivations of the characters in a lighthearted manner, so you can aleo focus on enjoying the fun mechanics of the game.
2:08
I got another for you, those twins trying to protect the president?
They survived.
@@theoneandonly3747 they literally showed words like "protection program executed" or some shit.
19:15 the id lock is for the sheathe, not the sword itself, the moment you place the sword back into the sheathe then you’re unable to pull it out without unlocking the id lock, just like locking/unlocking the door to a house
Actually, it's for the high frequency functionality of the blade. Without HF it's just a regular sword, which is pretty useless against highly armoured cyborgs and metal gears.
Fun fact, you can loose an eye and still have depth perception. The body adapts by swaying side to side more.
The comment at 6:35
that bandage is HIS left eye. It is a robotic eye in the shape of a bandage to keep cool and ninja and shit.
Nope, it's just a bandage that refers Solidus
@@NiCoNiCoNiCola Read the codec. The bandage is made up of several cameras, mimicking a left eye due to the limited time doktor had to fix up raiden.
@@Lethargy514 oh, that's why Raiden had visor for both eyes. Either way, it kinda resembles Snake's eyepatch
Nikolo Kavacio it’s a useful homage
16:17
I assume for stealth and stamina reasons? Running up a building would attract attention from surveillance. Also, Raiden might not be able to do the wall run upwards for very long so he might tire himself out leaving him open to attack from Sliders.
You weren't lying as you said you will be extremely nitpicky. Over half of those sins are even explainable for people with a third of an IQ how many sins you counted.
uh sick burn but not really
God this game was good , i don't understand how it wasn't game of that year , did Last of us came out on that year or smth , cuz this game still gets me HYPED even 4 years latter . God , please bring me Revenegenenenence 2 ;((
encencencencencencencencencencencencencencencencencence
Cuz The Last of Us is WAY more better and an emotional rollercoaster.
There also the Stanley parable so the game of the year was a pretty tough choice
13:02
but... Raiden gets shot at on a regular basis. He deflects bullets like it second nature. Even when he gets hit he's fine. The most dangerous enemies are the ones with melee weapons. Mainly because a cyborg wielding one can be more unpredictable and more powerful than a bullet.
"There isn't any revenge in thi-"
You forgot the part where Sundowner murdered a Prime Minister Raiden was buddies with and Sam cut Raidens' eye out. The part which is pretty much the entire opening of the game.
its sad this game never got a sequel, I really liked it alot
Ikr I am still waiting for it lol
Wouldn’t be the same with out Sam or Armstrong…
@@samsonstone764 Well too bad, we will never get it.
That mgs4 outer haven joke was pretty good, considering outer haven had psychotic female soldiers that would only nonviolently react if held at gunpoint or being searched.
22:40 is what you are here for.
I was actually here for "Don't fuck with this senator"!!
