What a stunningly beautiful, original and well crafted game. Grateful for those who introduce such things to my realityas I would never find them myself.
I love that every live stream starts with Simon asking the chat if it's working and it always is. I wonder if he really starts by asking if it's working when it isn't yet, but of course we'll never know unless he tells us.
It's sooo interesting watching someone not very familiar with modern game design, narrative and mechanics apply the more "rigid" logic learned through the lens of number puzzles! This is NOT a criticism: It's interesting how many clues and hints (especially the moments the game is thematically screaming what to do) he missed that I thought were incredibly obvious and straight forward. By that same token:the understanding of much more straight-forward logic I've seen him and others apply towards puzzles that would have me stuck for days if not forever is incredible and slightly mind-blowing to me lol
Never heard of this game, but the tutorial is wonderful. Very innovative and unfamiliar concept, and yet you're thrown right into the game, with necessary aid integrated into the background as you do stuff. Arin Hanson would be proud.
I had to come back to watch the rest of this - I think I did it in three sections. This is a fascinating game. Someone mentioned that it reminded them of World of Goo - I agree. This was fun. I might have to try this game at some point. I thought you were brilliant, Simon.
One tiny thing could improve this experience: Simon should put his picture-in-picture where he's BEEN instead of where he's going. Brilliant, in any case!
It's only anecdotal, but when you have some of chat saying something's too loud, and some of chat saying it's too quiet - it's a difference between speakers and headphones. Some sounds that are mixed to sound like they're coming from within your head, while wearing headphones, will have "destructive interference" when played through speakers, making it seem much more quiet. At least, I'd expect that to be the reason - but I've definitely gone from speakers to headphones on a single stream, and had different aspects of the audio change dramatically in their volumes relative to each other.
1:29:36 Yes, Simon. I've got an idea. Make "SLOW" again, push it over so it influences the crusher, and hurry through. You made "SLOW" before, but it was "outranked" by "STOP" already influencing the crusher. The moment you pushed "RAISE" over towards "STOP", the "STOP" was invalidated and "SLOW" took over (started glowing). Or you could just simply move "STOP" over to the crusher so it starts influencing the crusher the moment the crusher is at "top dead center".
Sometimes I watch your videos and I get this warm, cozy feeling, as if I was sitting in my bed, under my warm blanket with a cup of tea while it rains on my window and think to myself "you seem like such a wonderful person with a good heart and a great mind" and I just want to say thank you for that
Cracking the Cryptic embarks on let's play TH-cam. There are quite a few hard puzzle video games out there that could be done! Y'all would get a whole new audience and let's players might start saying "oh bobbins" since so many of them hang out together which, honestly, would just be lovely.
I ve played this game on the switch when it first come out. Very appreciate to rediscovering it with you. The puzzle seemed a bit simple for me but they did the job and the game was still very cool
in the platform puzzle half way into the stream, you actually solved it on the second stop, the first and third you tried to run into crush, the second time you had just rush, but you didn't notice, so you never tried to run through it.
Great playthrough, some levels had me going "No, Simon, you're so close! Just do this!" while others had me sitting in awe as you saw a solution I didn't.
What a lovely game. I did feel sorry for Simon (the key I want is somewhere around here) Anthony, when needing some keyboard dexterity. Mashing keys until you get the right one may work for the sudoku app, but not in this game. On one of the "anagram" stages, which took ages to solve, I was convinced the proper word was "revolve" (there was a stationary rotor on the right). It almost spelt itself at one point, then Simon exclaimed "I've got it". I thought "it's about bloody time", but then he put in something completely different. Simon, please don't put yourself forward to appear on Countdown, not even if Sam C-L eggs you on. "I've got three" wouldn't even get you a used tea-bag, let alone a teapot. I would second the call from the chat that suggested Limbo
27:56... That is one of the most tutorial of tutorial puzzles that is immediately obvious when gas lit up when you spelled on, you spell "on" till span spans out and then you break up the word locking it spaned out while turning off the gas.
amazed by simon's complete immunity to game affordances. for two hours every single useful word glows bright white even if it's not close enough to something to take effect, and then when he's trying some things for a puzzle and a word doesn't glow bright white, he's unsure whether it worked or not
You kept apologizing for it, but your platforming was very good throughout. A hiccup here and there is always to be expected. You were very good on the faster sections in particular. Great stream.
He actually even did get it stopped whome it was up when he did the 2nd stop. But then he didn't realise it and just walk over, he made raise instead and it all burned and the next stop stopped it down instead of up...
You say it's like nothing you've played before, but later on in Baba is You, you do get individual letters that you have to combine into words like in this.
1:32:08 I was waiting that entire time for you to find "laser" to hopefully turn that "red light thing" off lol but I guess that wasnt the intended path, which makes me wonder if it wouldve done anything at all! maybe a shortcut?
Watched 4 seconds. Downloaded game. Playing now. Watch video again second xD. Its like BabaISYou all over again ( though you guys never reached the uber twist)
I've only watched about an hour or so but I wonder if he will catch on that the saviors wings make up the word Muse. Or that Robust turns to Rust and Bust.
A wordsmith I am not obviously. I abandoned your video to try my own hand at the game. It’s weird that the things that gave me trouble; you got easily. Other times you had a lot of trouble with things I found easy.
Where do you find these types of games (I know its on steam but is there a library of these types of games). This is twice now I have stopped watching because I have decided I want to have a go.
I think you missed the second to last quote. Where you did "split", "spin", and "lift"; there was a ladder hiding. I think the ladder would have been available if you did "up" then "lie" to make "down".
OMG, it is "painful" to watch Simon not using Return button to type words and trying to grab/throw letters (Trust/Tilt) and also missing the obvious at the Press Platform Crush puzzle... he encountered tons of C/rush, yet can't figure it out to stop it at Rush.
Not using the return key when it keeps popping up the little return key icon to remind him was indeed painful. On the other hand impressive to see how well Simon managed those even with that restriction. I do love that there are multiple ways to solve many of the puzzles. The way Simon found on that platform was probably harder than the obvious way you mentioned but hey, it worked. Also I figured out a shorter word to get the platform to go up. On the other hand sometimes the alternatives just don't work: I spent ages at the first puzzle where you can't just run past the GAS trying to get the word AIR into the gas region. Managed to get it past the obstacles after a lot of trying but the little wind symbols don't help you breathe.
After many years, we finally get to see Simon doing some GAS puzzles
A pity Mark was not in!
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The joke is good, but being that the puzzles are generally easy, they are also GAS puzzles in the general sense

Before he did "raise" he had the crusher stopped in the open position (and the text was "rush" rather than "crush" to indicate he could go)
@@davidgustavsson4000 THIS! Yes! And he didn't notice it :'(

At 1:20:15, you used STOP to push SEPARATE into the abyss. When STOP remains there is no CRUSH, only RUSH.
Awesome video Simon! More please!

Extraordinary game, and now the gist!
Surely what awaits us: Myst.
Not the latter, riddled with cramps and ache
But its former version is at stake.
Great playthrough, some levels had me going "No, Simon, you're so close! Just do this!" while others had me sitting in awe as you saw a solution I didn't.
"aaaww you unpleasant creature!" his trash talk it's savage! Must be because of video games! D:
I'd love to see you return to Baba is You, and I'm sure I'm not the only one!

That was great playtrough. Thank you Simon.
If you need another suggestion, try a game called "Scribblenauts Unlimited"
Was having a bad brain night but giggling at Simon checking whether things killed him + this incredible game helped a lot!
About halfway through STOP would have also worked. You just needed to move it back and forth until it stopped with the C on CRUSH up instead of down.
This. I was screaming this for 15 minutes
@@LordHeishin Me too

What a tasteful and interesting little game!

Of Baba or this game ? I think a few bits missed on the way in this game. (never played it but I can see some other words )
Great stream, really enjoyed it!
Does anyone know what keyboard Simon is using? I love the clickity clack and his happens to sound really nice.
you guys should try Faster than Light, it's a fun puzzle like game :D
I've only watched about an hour or so but I wonder if he will catch on that the saviors wings make up the word Muse. Or that Robust turns to Rust and Bust.
He did catch muse, but never noticed the robust changes
1:57:50 what kind of bears live where you do? that doesnt look like any bear Ive ever seen lol
That was a beautiful stream!
I must wonder, how often does Simon end sentences with a question mark"

This seems like something mark would enjoy haha
Did you notice that the HERO only had one arm throughout most of the game?
Where do you find these types of games (I know its on steam but is there a library of these types of games). This is twice now I have stopped watching because I have decided I want to have a go.
Good luck localizing this game
Watching in mainland Europe so had to turn it off after an hour for bed, now I’m watching the next day, powerless in the comments.
at ~2:00:00, I think I used HEAVY
I think you missed the second to last quote. Where you did "split", "spin", and "lift"; there was a ladder hiding. I think the ladder would have been available if you did "up" then "lie" to make "down".
Never expected to see Simon making love live on TH-cam. Twice in quick succession at one point too. 2:11:14
Are there other words that would change the ending ?
I love watching you do sudokus but this was painful to watch. The gamer in me was screaming 😅. Amazing looking game though
when he did spider I noticed that pirate was an option. I wonder what that would have done. lol
can hear it now
1:01:55 sus sus
Aw I missed it :(
