Simon in Sudoku video: Patiently explains every deduction to the viewers. Simon streaming a game with Mark: Goes as fast as possible, explains nothing to his co pilot or the audience.
I never manage to catch the live steams due to being an absolute lightweight and being tucked up in bed before kick-off. But I love watching over the following days and seeing Simon pour the last dregs of his wine bottle and hoping for the best. High five to Mark (bring on the Countdown finals!), for his patience in having to constantly say, "I can't see your cursor!" Love you guys. x
Game suggestion: "14 Minesweeper Variants". There are innovative rules added to the classic minesweeper, but no guessing/luck is needed. People scratch their head for hours for some of the puzzles! I am sure you two will love the logical challenge.
the hexcells games are very zen games, and whoever did the audio got it exactly right with the chill music and the additive popping noises for correct clicks
Fun fact on the place names thing: In the north of Scotland there's a hotel called Banff Springs. There is also a hotel in Canada called Banff Springs. Both hotels will occasionally get things delivered which are meant for the other. Also: the hotels have photo of their counterpart displayed somewhere in their lobby if I remember correctly (I saw the one in the Scottish hotel when my wife and I were looking for a wedding venue).
Try Tametsi as well. It's a similar type of rule-set to Hexcells (missing some, but having others), but I think it's harder. I love Hexcells, but Tametsi is excellent as well. (Also, Hexcells Infinite is the best of the three, i.e., Hexcells, Hexcells Plus, and Hexcells Infinite.) Also highly recommend Patrick's Parabox. I was going to recommend Taiji as well (since you liked The Witness), but I see you've already done that one.
@@silver-moon-2000 Glad you like it! 🙂 I do think Hexcells has a better "feel" to it... better "polish". But, Tametsi has some really cool and creative elements to it, such as the differently colored regions, corners being in or out of adjacency, and quite variable shape tilings. And, as I said before, I think it's significantly more difficult than Hexcells overall. I picked it up on sale for $0.98, and it's given me countless hours of mind melting. lol (I'm getting fairly close to done with the core 100 puzzles, but I've only taken a crack at, and solved, a handful of the Bonus puzzles, so I still have many more hours ahead of me.) I mentioned Patrick's Parabox earlier, too, which is a different kind of puzzle game, but which I also very much enjoyed. If you end up giving it a shot as well, I warn you not to judge it too quickly; its early series of puzzles are intentionally easy, to help get players accustomed to the mechanics/thinking. And, then it starts to ramp up, and just keeps going... way farther than you thought was even possible. Anyway... ramble, ramble, ramble... glad you like Tametsi! 🙂
Oh, another thing: with the discovery of the Spectre tile in the past year, after decades of searching for such a thing, it'd be cool if there were a Tametsi update that incorporated it.
Really wonderful watching and playing along with you. It is very hard to get used to the right/left click -- I had to swap the clicks in the options. Can't wait to watch again!
I confused thinking that this was Hexceed when it was actually Hexcells. Interesting that there's yet another hexagonal Minesweeper variant. I may have to check it out
One of my favourite puzzle games, and with almost 4000 completed puzzles just in Hexcel's Infinite (Hard mode of course ;p ) and i've completed all the rest of the series too. It's something i play pretty much every day even if just to complete the daily puzzle. Such a simple but beautiful game with blissful music.
Looking forward to this series, even if I end up choosing to play it myself first. If this gets noticed and you haven't already checked out Patrick's Parabox, I found it to be an absolute delight and quite the brain twister.
Consecutive cell clues also count gaps as black cells. A consecutive clue in a cell cannot be satisfied by cells separated by a gap. Another way to think of it is cells treat gaps differently than columns. Cells must be truly consecutive (or not, for nonconsecutive clues), whereas columns ignore gaps.
Simon. I am guessing you are using Discord to share the screen. Disable the option in video and audio for "Use our advanced technology to capture your screen" And it will show the mouse cursor for Mark in the discord call.
Since we can see the cursor, wouldn't that mean the setting in OBS is already correct? Or would you use a separate out-stream with separate settings to send the image to Mark via Discord (I don't know OBS)?
@lukasr5867 I only record videos so I'm not really sure if it's got a stream specific toggle, I also have no clue how they both have their webcams on or what they do to "stream" the gameplay to Mark. It just seems so odd that only Mark doesn't see it.
I believe he's sharing the game to Mark with discord. What he could do is share the OBS preview window to Mark instead of the game window, although there might be a better solution.
Mark not seeing your cursor proved to be an issue. Discord might not be the best for video recording. Google meet may be better. So mark can see your mouse.
Game Suggestion: Please don't touch anything 3D Solid puzzle game that would work well for your stream... it would really push your logic and observation skills it would also work really well with multiple people as you would both need to pay attention and try to track down clues and put them all together
Mark says so many times I can’t see where you’re pointing when you say this until you go over a cell. This happens in the regular Sudoku. Could you please get a larger pointer on all of your games. Please please please.

Whenever Simon laughs in this stream, I can't help but chuckle along. It's incredibly contagious!

Hexcells is wonnnnderful, the last world of hexcells infinite is diabolically hard and absolutely genius design.

22:00 Simon, you and Mark are a joy in my life. Greetings from Seattle, Washington, USA
Oh my gosh! I did not realize you guys had streamed one of my all-time favorite puzzle games! It's such a relaxing vibe.

I want to thank you. I tried Tametsi as per your recommendation and I really like it. A new game to keep me captivated

I highly recommend Parsec for screen sharing, and it would make sharing Mark's mouse to Simon possible as well for some turn-based streaming!
2:43 Perfect life advice
Really wonderful watching and playing along with you. It is very hard to get used to the right/left click -- I had to swap the clicks in the options.
Can't wait to watch again!
"Where's the level" made me laugh much harder than it should have
Simon and Mark should take turns in this game
I confused thinking that this was Hexceed when it was actually Hexcells. Interesting that there's yet another hexagonal Minesweeper variant. I may have to check it out

More Case of the Golden Idol!
I enjoy tipsy Simon
Some of those levels I was half expecting to hear, "I'll have a B please Bob".
Rather than saying "gaps are only ignored on little killer clues" i think its more accurate to say "gaps are only ignored in straight lines"
I was very surprised when I heard Mark say "beast mode"
This is...hexagonal Minesweeper.
you guys should definitely play Tametsi!
It's official! Simon is quicker than Speedy Gonzales on amphetamines.
This game looks super fun!
I lke how Simon denies having missed an area in The Witness, when he never did the back of the castle.
They are very very good at seeing patterns in the numbers, goddamn
Looking forward to this series, even if I end up choosing to play it myself first. If this gets noticed and you haven't already checked out Patrick's Parabox, I found it to be an absolute delight and quite the brain twister.
Wonderful playthrough.
Watching at 2x, Simon seems very fast.
Might be easier to contact Hasabis after he won the Nobel Prize
Would love to see you play the game "14 minesweeper variants"!
I think you'd like "tiny bubbles" too.
Would love to see you guys play Tametsi
so when you sign off I think you two would sing a good pete & dud Goodbye-we
It's strange that gaps count as black cells for the nonconsecutive cells, but not nonconsecutive columns & consecutive anything.
Consecutive cell clues also count gaps as black cells. A consecutive clue in a cell cannot be satisfied by cells separated by a gap.

It’s like minesweeper!
I literally got stuck at 6-3 as well at the exact same spot for at least 30minutes because i couldn't see the 4 clue was completed. I only counted 3
Simon. I am guessing you are using Discord to share the screen. Disable the option in video and audio for "Use our advanced technology to capture your screen" And it will show the mouse cursor for Mark in the discord call.
Simon should do sudoku solves on the sauce
I think you mean "Do you bite your tongue at me, sir?" from Romeo and Juliet.
I think it's "thumb" rather than "tongue".
@@daylightsleeptight Indeed it is. Chalk it up to being late at night.
@@richardfarrer5616 Oh yeah, I totally get it. I am a notoriously sleepy gorl.
the only thing that irks me about the game are {5} clues, theyre redundant, 5 out of 6 are always consecutive^^
it's not every video you get to hear antepenultimate.
The game "Infinifactory" is a pretty fun puzzle challenge. Might be too much bifurcation though. lol
Could have sworn there's a setting in OBS about hiding your cursor while streaming/recording. Maybe see if it's toggled for future streams?
Since we can see the cursor, wouldn't that mean the setting in OBS is already correct? Or would you use a separate out-stream with separate settings to send the image to Mark via Discord (I don't know OBS)?

@pimanrules maybe they can test some things, seems like seeing the mouse in these games lately would be better for both of them haha
There were a mer-Lot of misclicks this episode. :-P
Looks like a good relaxing game but unfortunately not a good game for spectators
Mark not seeing your cursor proved to be an issue. Discord might not be the best for video recording. Google meet may be better. So mark can see your mouse.
Can I have a wrogn hexcells? 😀
Game Suggestion:
Please don't touch anything 3D
Solid puzzle game that would work well for your stream... it would really push your logic and observation skills
it would also work really well with multiple people as you would both need to pay attention and try to track down clues and put them all together
Mark says so many times I can’t see where you’re pointing when you say this until you go over a cell. This happens in the regular Sudoku. Could you please get a larger pointer on all of your games. Please please please.
I actually think it's not the pointer size but something selected in discord or however mark is viewing the live stream from Simon.
I think Mark quite literally cannot see the cursor
A lot of people seem to like the Hexcells series, I find it vastly overrated. Tametsi is a much better game for this kind of puzzle.
