Interrupter gear is how prop planes don't turn their propellers into sky confetti. In short the gear stops the trigger from being activated shortly before the propeller is there and shortly after it leaves. You are talking about a 1-2° before and after though or something like that. The issue is interrupter systems often caused jams due to machine gubs not liking it hence wing mounts. But just Like tank versions of things, those too got modifications to fit the role. EDIT: Kevin Frassad is gentle as can be.
