I don't want to be harsh, but the host needs to learn how to moderate a little better, or stick to editing. If you're sharing the stage with people, especially comedians of this caliber, don't try and compete with them. It didn't work when Johnny Carson tried to do it, and it didn't work this time. This is so hard to watch. Of all the panels and interviews I've seen on TH-cam, this Steven Clemons guy is one of THE WORST interviewer I've ever seen.
the interview is about the guests not about your carrier steve! it looks like there was no prep made what so ever for this, he didn't knew how to handle or speak to 3 *comedians* (who are known for this behavior while together) and he tried so hard to *keep it sEriOuS* ???????? AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD *READ THE ROOM* , GIVE ALEX THE LEADE THEY ARE CLEARLY MORE PREDISPOSED AND HAVE SOME TYPE OF FAMILIARITY TALKING TO HER
I was going to stop watching this until I read the comments and now I need to see what happens. First impressions: this male moderator should never be allowed to moderate for comedians, especially these guys. Any panel Bill Hader is ever on derails immediately and that’s part of his charm. Comedians riff, that’s their entire thing. Watch Bill’s 92Y interview with John Mulaney, or the Documentary Now one done there, for a better example of how to moderate for guests like these. I know this is years old now, but I keep seeing interviews even recently with people who don’t know how to adapt and interview/moderate in the best style for each guest, and it demonstrates a lack of respect for the guests and a lack of concern for the quality of the audience experience. So yeah I hope this guy isn’t still doing this today.
I amend my statement after seeing 30 minutes of this incredibly poorly run panel to say that the female moderator needed to work on timing her questions but the male moderator should never be allowed to conduct an interview good lord that must have been so embarrassing for the Atlantic.
Totally. The woman was fine, could have run the show better, but good questions and respectful and had good rapport. The man just gave me anxiety about what awful awful thing he would do or say next. He made it nearly unwatchable. Perhaps he has never seen an interview before? He doesn’t seem to have a grasp of the basic question and answer format yet.
These interviewers and questions are so bad and Bill derailed it right from the beginning, I love it, those 3 together just go into their own little world and it's fantastic. And an annoyed Bill is still just so sweet and funny, I just love him. (What was he trying to do to that lady though XD)
Joe Kohle thanks Joe but in the friendliest possible way I disagree. We all knew that it would bounce between funny and cerebral and be a tug of war. If you wanted seamless seriousness best to not watch these kinds of comedians, or me. Be well. Take care, Steve
Mate...you need to stop replying to comments, it makes you look insecure. Clearly the interview did not go well, but the more you challenge everyone that observes this the more worried you look. Serious journalists don't argue on youtube.
Steve Clemons no one believes you that it was planned to go like this. You were steam rolling the other interviewer and interrupted so many of her questions, or the answers the guys were trying to give. Bill Hader was obviously very annoyed during most of this. I’ve seen him in so many interviews and he can play annoyed very well for comedic reasons, but this was clearly genuine annoyance at you.
@@SCClemons So just to be clear, a good interview is: - interrupting them 10+ times and an audience member. - Asked, "What do these 2 guys have that you don't?" - "Have you guys had any real documentarians to hang out with you or talk to you or do they hate you?" - Asked that stupid "atlantic" styled question (a bad one) - "Come on get serious" to an audience member. - Told everyone that your friend (I fell so sorry for him) has a gay son and other private information that shouldn't be talked about unless they bring that up. - Touched Fred in a very odd and uncomfortable way at 30:13 - Said Lorne Michaels didn't know people who worked there 10+ years and they immediately said that wasn't true. - Randomly started to unbutton your shirt to show a t-shirt and interrupted Bill Hader while he was answering your question. - Pissed off everyone in that room and everyone who watched this video.

And Seth thought it was hysterical whatever it was. Btw I could watch Hader and Seth talk/laugh about anything. They have such a great rapport and are so alike. When one starts a bit, the other immediately gets it and continues on with it. Clearly great buddies.
We're having so much fun!
Camera person in the balcony FINALLY gets back from the toilet and does their first zoom, just as things are winding down. And the world's slowest zoom, mind you. @29:06
Lmao. That first four minutes. That was funnier than anything any of them could have actually said. I hope she wasn't actually hurt by it and she gets a chance soon.
this is horrible, the male moderators that's so rude and stupid + the guests so annoyed, feel sorry to Alex who trying her best for all 41 minute and thank Seth cuz he being nice to her. how sweet when he cheer up her by holding her hand
The male moderator talking about comedians being depressed when Hader is infamous for talking about his struggles with anxiety and panic attacks and so on is just so distasteful.
wait... bill hader in a suit? WE'RE BLESSED
When Bill starts laughing at 28:42 I just imagine him thinking “Steve is such a fucking idiot”
which Steve clearly doesn't understand....he laughs along with him as if he's part of the joke rather than the cause of it
@@analogdaniel he's probably not even listening to them answer
It's the moment Bill imagines them all in a cringe compilation lol
"We killed all the animals!!...That's the last time you see all these animals!...That's a wrap on the Racoon!" 22:39 (all 3 in unison; 🏏"THUMP!!" 🏏😵☠️🤣🤣🤣)
Lol what was bill doing with the lady lol
@wonderfalls i don't think he help her much, you can see on her face she feel a little angry when bill interrupting her but she keep continue like a professional. Bill know that so he's try to hug her and she don't hug him back. She is so done, poor lady imagine how bad that she has to work with unprofessional co-host and a comedians who annoyed over an interview. i feel bad for her although i am bill fan
This is so hard to watch. Of all the panels and interviews I've seen on TH-cam, this Steven Clemons guy is one of THE WORST interviewer I've ever seen.
Clémence C You made a typo. Just leave out interviewer. 🤗😉🤣
nail in this dunes coffin at 41:46 when he straight up forgets Alex Wagner's last name after disrespecting her for the better part of an hour.
the interview is about the guests not about your carrier steve! it looks like there was no prep made what so ever for this, he didn't knew how to handle or speak to 3 *comedians* (who are known for this behavior while together) and he tried so hard to *keep it sEriOuS* ????????
Madison Chazo I just googled this guy, Clemons, and he’s exactly who you think he is, times ten. Good Gawd. Imagine working with him. Oof.
0:43 I CANT STOP LAUGHING AT BILLS WALK LMFAO IMAGINE HIM ON A RUNWAY
These interviewers and questions are so bad and Bill derailed it right from the beginning, I love it, those 3 together just go into their own little world and it's fantastic. And an annoyed Bill is still just so sweet and funny, I just love him. (What was he trying to do to that lady though XD)
I think he was going in for a hug, and she was worried about her mic--and then he realized she didn't want a hug. But I could be wrong.
Nope, on replay, it wasn't her mic--she didn't want to step on the manhole.
the atlantic interviewer is horrible.. cringe
Joe Kohle thanks Joe but in the friendliest possible way I disagree. We all knew that it would bounce between funny and cerebral and be a tug of war. If you wanted seamless seriousness best to not watch these kinds of comedians, or me. Be well. Take care, Steve
+Steven Clemons bill hader was visually pissed off with like every second think you said
Mate...you need to stop replying to comments, it makes you look insecure.

So just to be clear, a good interview is:
- interrupting them 10+ times and an audience member.
- Asked, "What do these 2 guys have that you don't?"
- "Have you guys had any real documentarians to hang out with you or talk to you or do they hate you?"
- Asked that stupid "atlantic" styled question (a bad one)
- "Come on get serious" to an audience member.
- Told everyone that your friend (I fell so sorry for him) has a gay son and other private information that shouldn't be talked about unless they bring that up.
- Touched Fred in a very odd and uncomfortable way at 30:13
- Said Lorne Michaels didn't know people who worked there 10+ years and they immediately said that wasn't true.
- Randomly started to unbutton your shirt to show a t-shirt and interrupted Bill Hader while he was answering your question.
- Pissed off everyone in that room and everyone who watched this video.
They needed a giant hook to pull Clemons off the stage.
You know the Bill and them had to endure even more of that guy during the drinks portion
I really hope that the male interviewer didn't tell everyone that he's gay just in case the interview went poorly, and then go "well, they didn't like me because I'm gay."
34:35 Bill nailing this dude was hilarious though. Gotta get him a mike. RELAX!! Fred looks so embarrassed too and I don't blame him.
Bill not being able to sit still is adorable
AHAHA this is crazy. The interviewer guy is absolutely insane. What a train wreck 😂
This shouldve been a panel discussion for Trainwreck.. Because Jesus Christ 😳
9:06 Bill is nonplussed😄
This was so cringy to watch....I really wish we could of heard more of their answers instead of the one guy interupting all the time
no water bottles have been harmed during this interview
I know I'm late, but what the actual f*ck?
Great comments, but there must have been no sound guy involved; her mic is set so low and Bill's is set so high that there's no way to balance the dynamics. And then everybody talks at once and it's a mess. The two end people were a waste of microphones anyway.
19:29 that’s the Atlantic question?!
I love when Helen Mirren intrudes the show, season 52. Ok it’s been on for 52 years....
i hope this was the last panel this male moderator ever did
16:02 Bill almost falls out of chair
I wonder how many people in the audience were like “finally Steve got what’s what”
‘Would you guys ever consider doing something along the lines of Star Wars?’ This is a MOCK-umentry. Who are these people and where did they get their audience? It’s overflow from a Bob Lazer interview, isn’t it? 🤦🏻♀️
I assume they ultimately signed off on this footage being made public?
Oh Alex Wagner is such a dream
Why would you ever have two interviewers/moderators on a panel?
Is the “Atlantic Guy” kidding? What a jerk
4:48 lololol
Ugh so over bearing! Cringe worthy! And rude! The host was the reason I had to thumbs down this video! Geesh!
This is so chaotic lmao
