I'm new to your videos and am learning a lot about Bobcats from them. I'm a field tech for a forklift dealer, that thinks we need to repair everything else too, with no access to any info.
Thank you for your videos! They are very helpful. You say this one wasn't informative, but, I disagree, it was.
    I noticed,at 12:26 , you said it smells like f-ing gas.
The two injectors sticking at the same time, all of that smoke, the dead battery, and that comment suggests that they put gasoline in it. Perhaps they even realized their mistake, after running it, drained the tank, and refilled with diesel.
Too late, the damage was done. Old school mechanical injectors might have survived, but electronic injectors are delicate.
It wouldn't start, and they cranked it until the battery died. Assuming it was much much colder than 20⁰f overnight, the battery was probably frozen solid, because dead batteries freeze.
They probably stressed about it,then decided to call the "HowIDidIt" guy to come fix it, but, left out all of those important details when they called you.
I could be wrong but, one thing is for certain. They will NEVER volunteer any if that information or admit guilt.

I've never been in 20° temperature and only wore a baseball hat. My ears would be red and stinging, after 20 minutes. Sunshine must have been about 60

You are a very impressive mechanic that leak test is awesome, and taking that load off the engine to start it. At least you got it going

Excellent work to figure that out. I was a Service Manger at a John Deere dealership for many years and had similar issues with injection pumps which were replaced by customers. They had been purchased from non John Deere parts source and took us awhile to figure the pump timing was off by a few degrees.

Can't tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I just bought a 2008 T 190 knowing I could reference your videos for help. I live in a cold climate and wondered if I can hook up a small charger to the positive post on the starter and ground to frame since the battery is so far back in the machine. I would leave this on between uses. I think this would help some with cold weather starts also. Thank you

Everybody, welding batteries back to life works and works well. 75 to125 amps 10 mintue cycle 2 times and it's on. Take off vent caps and keep outside. Make sure connections are awesome or will melt lead electrode

The reason I avoid trying to fix these newer machines is a lack of an interface to read computer codes. Even older models like the S300 with a non computer engine use a computer for interlock, start and other functions. Without a computer it's a loast cause. Good old machines from 2001 and earlier are the best. I just had to fix an 873 with a Deutz and one injector was stuck it ran the same with black smoke and no power. Simple homemade injector tester from a porta-power pump tests em.

I sure wish I had a mobile diesel mechanic like you around here. I have to haul my machine (Bobcat T770) almost an hour and a half away if I need any repairs. Even then, the Bobcat dealer I go to isn’t the best.

Save yourself some time bro.. Been in this situation many times, usually at night and windy is my luck .. all I do is bring a generator and a medium-sized forced air heater..heat engine for about 10 minutes and they start right up happy as can be.. definitely not trying to loosen the pump belt 😳(fyi, there's no such thing as cheating)

Hello, my name is Carlos, thanks for uploading the videos, they are very helpful. I have a problem with a bobcat t590, it does not start, but if I put a starter in the air filter, it starts and works perfectly, I turn it off and it does not start again. It will be that there is no pressure in the fuel system. I'm in naples florida. thank you

This helped a lot, thank you for the videos. We have a 2007 A300 with 6,000 hours. It shoots a ton of black smoke and can't drive under it's own power. I suspect 1 if not 2 injectors stuck open? It also uses about 4 quarts of oil every 20 hrs or so. Time for a rebuild?

    • @tetradgroup
      @tetradgroup  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Could be several things but I would check the turbo first as it could cause both oil consumption and black smoke due to low boost or no boost pressure at all. Remove the boot from the intake on left side of engine and see if you have boost pressure.
