I see that this is a sponsored video and Sony gave you the products. I'm going to say this but you and others may not like it. It's abundantly clear that you are definitely swayed in this. Why? You share virtually NO cons or anything that is even remotely undesireable about this product. However, in non-sponsored videos, you always have something to point out. I know it's hard to keep integrity when a company throws free products, consults with you on a call (in an effort to ensure it's a positive video), and pays you but come on.. This was a bit much. You make it sound like these are the top earbuds over all of them which we all know 100 will NOT be the case.
I completely agree and in fact came here to say this. I am genuinly interested in potentially purchasing the Linkbuds Fit, and was very happy to see that Mike had a video as he always makes great content on the products he reviews. This video, however, was just an ad or product showcase. It could have been published by Sony itself. I learned nothing about the Linkbuds that was not in Sony's marketing material. Very disappointing unfortunately. Hope you'll give these products an actual review, Mike.
Ugh. I'm sad to admit this, but I have to agree with you Flexor. I was an early adopter of the original LinkBuds but had to ditch them after Sony's firmware updates RUINED the battery, causing them to no longer charge. Funnily enough, this happened outside of the warranty so I was SOL. Louis Rossman had a video on this exact issue affecting other Sony buds, so, as much as I love my XM3s, I will NEVER buy Sony buds again.
I don't understand the issue here... He did say it was sponsored. Maybe wait for a full review before ordering it. Take this video like an advertisement which it is.
@harisurayagari I was going to say this. Never did he say this was a full review. This is a "let me show these products off." Likely a long-term review or comparison vid is coming
I've been using the previous generation of LinkBuds for 2 years. They are almost a perfect choice for me. The criteria I chose when picking these buds were: 1) an open design; 2) the way of attaching to ears; 3) decent speech playback, since I generally listen to podcasts. The only drawback is the battery life, a general one. Basically, after a single year of using, the battery of one of the ear buds dies. Throughout 2 years, I had two pairs and both had the same issue. I did send the first pair to a service center. They had one of the buds replaced. But after literally two weeks, the battery on the other bud died too. I gave up and bought a new pair. And after a year of using, one of my buds constantly has only 70% of charging after taking it from the case. To sum it up, if you're ok with the fact that the buds will last for a year only, or if you're ok with the hustle and inconvenience of replacement, you're good to go
The Fit has to compete directly with the S. If the ANC is a major improvement to the S I might consider them but visually the S looks sleek and nice. The Fit (and Open) look a bit bulky with the rubber dome. Also got the OG Linkbuds and dont have the fatigue issue so I can pass on the Open just fine as there seems to be no real improvement being made there aside from minor sound but I use them as background noise at work so they are at the sweet spot with bass and overall sound quality which I can't see being surpassed by the Open heavily.
I believe the reason why the donut in the Linkbuds Open are smaller are to fit wider ranges of ears. The original Linkbuds donut was slightly too large for my ears, making them slip out constantly. The retention system in the originals were also very uncomfortable, causing pressure points on the upper portion of my ear. Here's hoping the smaller donut and tips are more comfortable.
the linkbuds open have a unique feature where you can leave them in your ears but not be actively listening to them... how long is the standby time of the earbuds? could you wear them all day for phone calls and meetings?
@@her8066 mine were old so the battery was pretty degraded, I could only leave one of them in for about 3 hours, the other one would die immediately lol. I guess if they were new they would have behaved better
Wonder if these will have the hissing noise issue that the Linkbud S had? Really hope they fixed that issue as I've found the Sony ear buds to be the most comfortable I've tried so far.
I'm curious about one thing. I'm wondering if these earbuds are any good as sleepbuds with ANC turned on? The shape looks low profile and ergonomic. If you block touches you could in theory sleep with them I would think. What is the experience with that? Wouldn't it be cool for them to include a sleep mode on these buds via a firmware update.
Great video, thanks! Does the new app work with existing devices like the XM5 headphones and earbuds? *Ah-ha! You anticipated my question. Best to watch the whole video before asking wuestions. 🙂
Sony should improve their repairability, had linkbuds s for about a year till the batteries gave up. Would be happy to try the open but don't want them to die in a year.
$179 for a bluetooth speaker of THAT size is a crime. For reference, Sonos Roam 2 is priced at $179, and that speaker is by far better than anything the Linkbuds Speaker could possibly have to offer while being overpriced.
I have the same desire, and I can tell you from personal experience that the LinkBuds S work perfectly well, if you only use one earbud. I only use the right earbud, and the only limitation that I experience, is the fact that I can only use the touch control of the right side.
As always Mike, great content 👌🏻 I wondet if it is another model of Sony where the battery dies after 2 years or Sony finally solve the problem. My WF-1000xm4 right earphone died after 105h of listening, Linkbuds S after 78h of total playback. Apparently, the problem of battery degradation in Sony earphones is common, and there is no help or support except the information to buy new ones. And I will use that advice and buy new ones but from a different manufacturer.
what it sounds like to me is that sony now has two product lines like apple does with beats. apple is premium and beats is common. sony has the WF and WH lines for premium while the linkbuds line is the common
Who is the best of this? SoundPEATS Capsule3 Pro+ Nothing ear One plus buds 3 Earfun air 4 SoundPEATS Air4 Pro want high sound quality, good ANC and low latency .. Thanks
Did not really understand the differences.. Fit if i want anc? Wanna try something new, my current ones fall out of my ear. Hoping the wingtip on the fit helps
I wonder how many more years Sony needs to add wireless charging to Linkbuds? Also - what I really miss is comparison between original Linkbuds and Linkbuds Open. I do not see much changes (except for new wing-thing).
What a dream to be sponsored by Sony. ✨ One day, self. One day. But I know you're telling the truth because I know for a fact that Sony produces really great products. Been a Sony user here for a long time since the OG compact phones. Also, great review as always! 🙌♥
I have the originals and they're incredible. What people and TECH REVIEWERS fail to understand and therefore criticize is their intended use. These are practically in a category to themselves and expecting them to perform like anything outside of that category is just a fools Journey.
Thanks for showing the gesture controls page. I wasn't going to replace my linkbuds S but the way controls are is a dealbreaker You can only play/pause it or go to next song. No more previous song since there's no single tap action anymore (1 tap action is now 2 tap and 2 tap action is now 3 tap). That's just because they decided to add the whole tap your face to use actions. No thanks. I'm fine with grabbing my pocket to adjust volume from the phone without getting it out of my pocket. Having to get it out and turn the screen on to play previous song it's a nope.
$300 CAD and still no wireless charging, that's a big no from me. Also doesn't make sense that the open aren't cheaper than the fit. Might consider if they ever get discounted Are the open more comfortable compared to the og link buds? I loved the ogs but the size of the ring made it uncomfortable to wear after 10 minutes
i had the original linkbuds open. I loved them inside but they had terrible connection issues outside. I returned them to Sony for a replacement pair. Same issue. I would tell you how they were doing now but the batteries died in about a year and will not hold a charge. Great concept, Terrible quality.
The tips hurts after aprx. 30min. Used lot of major brands. Thanks no more tips n dirt.. Shokz openfit is the best sound n comfort . But wl try Sony open.
After using mine Link Bud S for a year only to have the right ear bud stop holding a charge for more than 20 minutes, I'm gonna have to step away from Sony ear buds overall. Shouldn't spend hundreds for something to be trash a year later.
Previous Linkbuds had some faulty batteries. My open Linkbuds right ear battery died after one year of mild use and my Linkbuds S show weak battery life after less than two years of moderate use too. I don't trust Sony any more. Brands like Samsung, Jabra or Beats don't have TWS battery drain problems after much longer daily use.
The app isn’t complicated, it just takes an hour to get used to, also I have had the Sony link buds for years now and had no battery issues. I had the Sony WH-1000xm3 for four years and had no issues, I also have had the Sony WF-1000xm5 for a year and had no issues. Seriously Sony is the way to go. Better sound, better noise canceling, cheaper than apple, and long warranties. Trust me, don’t avoid Sony, yes there may be a few flaws but ultimately it makes up for them
I bought the original Linkbuds Open. It is terrible because it hurts to wear and does not stay in the correct position and ruins the audio quality. I also have the linkbuds S, it's great.
I'm a big fan of sony but the link buds open Gen 1 are absolutely trash. I had like 5 replacements and I really wanted to love them but unfortunately they had so many issues. Gen 2 looks promising but let's see 😅
I have been using Linkbuds S and the fit on them is absolutely awful..and the battery is also quite bad. so looks like Sony is atleast focusing on a better "fit"
I'm really having a problem with the link buds open fitting in my ear. its just doesn't fit my ears. The silicone wingtip is too flimsy not even solid silicone its hollow wingtip with thin silicone.

Linkbuds Fit is what I thought Galaxy Buds 3 would be
Preach!
Exactly what i thought
Galaxy buds FE are better than galaxy pro 3 imo
Thinking the exact same thing

My original linkbuds could last all day if they're not playing anything, so I assume the new version can too

No voice call quality in a loud environment? The last version were remarkable at the time, would love to see if that's improved
Nice. Congrats on the exclusive!
I thought the Linkbuds Open sounded rather good. I have a pair of the original and I absolutely adore them, so I'm really looking forward to these.
Bro What do you think of the headphones ua project rock over ear training do you recommend me to buy them?

Good hi res sound with Sony Walkman? Also does the new speaker connect with Hi Res Walkman? Thanks
What is your opinion on these vs the Bose quietcomfort ultra for working out?
The question comes down to are the linkbuds fit better than the wf 1000 xm5 ?
the speaker seems really cool :)
I'm a life-long AirPods user who is considering a switch to the Sony Audio Ecosystem.
You won't regret it imho
That will be the greatest decision of your life
I have an iPhone but I still use Sony when it comes to sound
Quality is always excellent, from Tv speakers systems, headphones, earbuds, you name it
You will regret it after owning mine for a year the battery life didn't even last an hour and the touch controls would go off by themselves
Come on man , i was waiting for the speaker sound test !
Excellent review

are the linkbuds fit a sequel to the linkbuds S?
Hey Mike, so happy to see this notification 😂
Are you able to use just one ear bud on either version of the new link buds at a time?
Yes you can
I have the same desire, and I can tell you from personal experience that the LinkBuds S work perfectly well, if you only use one earbud. I only use the right earbud, and the only limitation that I experience, is the fact that I can only use the touch control of the right side.

They also launched the Sony Wf-c510, which is the super budget earbuds.

Waiting for the new Bose QC earbuds review

The battery life on the original Sony link buds was terrible. It was something around two hours.
Only having double tap and triple tap is ridiculous. I appreciate the innovation, but not at our expense.
