Video was too long for me to watch. Here’s the TLDR: 1/ Orbea Rallon M10. 2/ propain spindrift AL mix start. 3/ ibis HD6 GX transmission. 4/ YT Capra core 2. 5/ Atherton A.170.1
@@99spokes I like your recs. Id also like to know all bikes in each category, to see how they stack and to ultimately see a showdown. Would be keen to watch a top 5 shootout from each section.
I went with a Marin San Quentin 3 after watching your reviews. I’ve been eyeing the YT Capra 2 for getting into a “super enduro” that is under $5k. After seeing this, I think I’ve chose wisely 🤙🏽
I have the Pivot Shuttle SL as my trail bike and I just ordered a YT Capra Core 5 MX using the black friday saie for the more rowdy downhill oriented days.
When I was looking for a new enduro bike I wound up going with Santa Cruz. I was lucky enough to get to test the megatower and the nomad and I wound up on the nomad. It kinda did everything a little better for me and because it was more confidence inspiring on the steeps and big bumps and features, along with it being easier to get around the corners I found myself riding it faster on the same tails as I tested the megatower on.
I went with the Nomad V6 as well over Dreadnought V2. It is the best bike I've ridden by miles. Easy to live with, climbs well and shreds - plus in frame storage.
You gave the Capra MX geometry data while talking about the full 29" version. The Capra 29 has a longer rear triangle and slightly different linkage which in combination with a bigger rear wheel gives it a longer reach and slightly steeper head tube angle.
Nice vid. For the mullet Spindrift, the headtube angle is actually a slacker 63.7 degree rather than the 64.5 according to their website. You get 64.5 for both the 29er and 27.5.
Me too! I just got one 2 weeks ago and have taken it to the trails and park and absolutely love how I'm gelling with it as it hasn't let me down yet. Not 100% in love yet, but close and need more time riding. Really dig how stable at high speed and nimble it is too.
That Ibis might be exactly what I’m looking for. I’m not after a 1-bike quiver, but I want something I can pedal uphill reasonably well, and the geo is in my personal sweet spot (too slack and I get a little wallowy.
I can speak for their carbon, I hit a stump ( pedal strike ) running down hill and it threw the back end around at least a foot n half, and I mean I was rolling. I took it to a different bike shop that I bought it from and told them what happened, they did a close inspection and said the bb shell was not damaged at all. This was on DV9 hard tail so the shell took all the pressure.
160 mm alloy frame, pretty decently speced (one model of has a t-type drivetrain), and a ton of geo adjust (2 sets of flip chips and an angle adjust headset)
My favourite enduro bike of 2024, easy it’s my trek slash 2021, not because it’s the best bike, but it’s because it’s the one I own, so I ride it all of the time and that’s way better than a new bike that’s maybe 5% better (if you drink the marketing cool-aid) but I can’t ride because I don’t have……
We’d love to, but seeing as we’re still a pretty small fish in a big pool it’s an uphill battle getting bikes sent. But we’ll be putting out a group test featuring 5 trail bikes under $5k, stay tuned!
if I'd have a top 5 Enduro it would be: (in no specific order) * Geometron G1 * Archibald AC1 * Banshee Titan * Pole Stamina 180 * and for the price the Privateer 161 has to be on the list.
Haha I like the analogy! We have the new Marin Alpine Trail XR in for review, which has a slew of geometry adjustment. We’re excited to see how much impact they make on the trail
The flip chip on my Clash I had set to Dynamic over Sensitive, which is about a half inch less travel and it feels more like a hardtail when riding than a gushy (not a lot) rear suspension with the sensitive setting. For my riding style, I really like it so far as I really don't notice or pay attention to the rear which is nice.
Killer bike!! And one I wanted to include is one of our top bike park rigs! Ultimately though the fact that it’s currently not available as a complete bike held us off for this list, but those rolling chassis builds are a pretty killer value for folks with an extra drivetrain and brakes laying around!
Both were on our short list for the best high-end bike! But ultimately we wanted something with a bit more travel than the Foxy, and as rad as the Unno looks, it sadly doesn’t sound like the lucky folks who have ridden one have been overly impressed 😕
Are you talking about the Rallon? Like we said in the video, it’s not the best value in terms of part spec. If you’re looking to max that out check out the runner up we mentioned, the Canyon Strive CFR
Great question! We almost had the Enduro Expert as one of our pics for the best race bike, but the frame is starting to show its age just a bit, and we’re suspecting specialized will be dropping a new one soon! 🤞🤞
the best bike is the one that has a service in every country of this group, what you mentioned is that only Orbea can be repaired in Europe. Everything else is not worth mentioning. You can find parts for those bikes, and no one wants to service them.
I have a 2016 norco range with 27.5 inch tires and I'm still faster downhill than most people out on the trail with $9000 bikes. Technology is easy to get caught up in but realistically its not super important unless you are a pro.
We’ve done a few side to side tests (though admittedly not blind, that would be logistically challenging lol) and it’s actually pretty surprising how noticeable the differences are when ridden back to back!

All shit. Where is Yeti, specialized and santa cruz
@@baykkarl9541 i wondered the same.

Heck yeah, fantastic bike! I owned the first gen San Quentin for a year or two and used it for everything from XC racing to bike park days. Enjoy!
I have the Pivot Shuttle SL as my trail bike and I just ordered a YT Capra Core 5 MX using the black friday saie for the more rowdy downhill oriented days.
nah its crazy how nobody talks about the pivot firebird and other pivot bikes theyre so good
The best bike is the bike you own👍 in this case nukeproof giga is the 👑😎🤙
Nice 🤩🤩
I ride the nukeproof mega 275

Good catch, thank you! We’re correcting the geo info on our site now!
Spindrift came out on top for me, bought the frame and built my own dream bike and absolutely in love, pedals great and jumps/descends even better👍
Heck yeah, glad you’re stoked on it!!
My friend has a spindrift and riding that is pretty sweet in the bike park. Super jibby and smooth as butter
Nice! Thanks for sharing 🤙
What an awesome video man, great job! My pick would be a Transition patrol.
I fell in love with Ripmo V2S. This is what I'd recommend.
Nice! We have one for our upcoming value bike group test, stay tuned!
my favorite is the canyon strive cfr
I really like my custom evil wrekoning LS
Ive moved over from specialised to a scott ransom, amazing bike
Nice! Do you have the new one with the hidden shock?
I second this, love my 2020 ransom

Would love to see you fellas review Dreadnought v2
Us too! Almost added the dreadnought as a bike park runner up. I’m personally most interested in the Druid, sounds like a special bike!
I really like a Commencal Clash

Would love to see a category that’s like beat up and comming brand bike, something where these smaller frame only brands can fit in
That would be a great video idea, thanks for sharing!
Atherton for the win
SantaCruz Megatower or Yeti SB 160, or Pivot Firebird
Any thoughts on the evil wreckoning?

I'm always blown away when Santa Cruz isn't mentioned in videos like this.
Probably because $5k gets you fucking NX drive train and ROCKSHOX base parts kit.
They’re rad bike! We almost listed the Negatower as a runner up for best all-around bike
@@ryanbrehm4424BS, they are not more expensive than any good brand, and actually cheaper than crappy trek or specialized
The Slash Gen 6 is pretty crazy
i have yt industri capra core 1 2016 and i use it as dh. too good bike.
Whats up with the Megatower v2? Nice video btw
Thanks! The Megatower was one of our runner ups for best all around bike 🤙
That would be the best bike in test in any category but price.
i rly love my spindrift. besst on the descends and climbs well.
thanks for the nice video
Thanks man, glad you’re stoked on the Spindrift!
Capra uncaged 11 🤘🏻
No Trek Slash?
What’s the new Marin Alpine like? thanks 😊
160 mm alloy frame, pretty decently speced (one model of has a t-type drivetrain), and a ton of geo adjust (2 sets of flip chips and an angle adjust headset)
Commencal meta sx v5 is my pick
Ours too haha! Did you see we listed it as a runner up for best budget-oriented bike?
@@99spokes yeah, wish meta sx v5 was a little cheaper. Cost me fortune to build it😓
i love my norco range
My pick would be Merida One-Sixty
I have one. Running mullet. I love it ❤

BH lynx trail, thoughts?

16:33 🤙
What so you think about the Santa cruz NOMAD?
Killer bike, as is is the Megatower if you’re a full 29er person
Great video!
I have high end 2022 Trek Slash and high end 2024 Trek rail.. Best shit ever.
Trek Slash is a love and life.
Nice! My wife’s first “real” MTB was a Slash and she loved that thing!
Pivot firebird?
It was one of the runner ups we chose for the best race bike 👌
my favourite enduro bike is the scor 4060 lt .
you can jump it perfectly
I definitely have a soft spot for Scor, those are some beautiful bikes, and I’m sure they ride amazing too!

Fuji Rakan LT what do u guys think?
High End I would consider We Are One Arrival :P
i know 3 people who have them, and don't really like them.
What is your opinion on the Commencal Meta V5 SX Race?
Sadly never ridden one, but heard lots of great things!
My opinion is flip chips are like windows on refrigerator doors Cool idea but doesn't seem to do much
Haha I like the analogy! We have the new Marin Alpine Trail XR in for review, which has a slew of geometry adjustment. We’re excited to see how much impact they make on the trail
@@99spokes kewl , I mean I didn't ride it when I flipped the chip on mine just visually I could not see a difference

Capra for me the mother of all enduro bikes
Pretty rad bike!!
I own one and I would say they're pretty nice but the carbon isn't the best, it chips pretty easily.
Thanks for sharing!
The Santa Cruz Nomad is, i was destroying YT Capras with my cheap 2007 Santa cruz Nomad lol
@@skippylegrandgourou2069and I destroy nomad with wheelbarrow any time
What about Raaw Madonna v3?

Ultimately though the fact that it’s currently not available as a complete bike held us off for this list, but those rolling chassis builds are a pretty killer value for folks with an extra drivetrain and brakes laying around!
Would you consider madonna or any other bike as do it all bike no matter the terrain?
It’s a pretty burly bike for an all-rounder, but that’s not to say you couldn’t!
What does anyone think of the pet patrol from transition????
Playful long travel bike; not as speed focused as the spire but a lot more agile/poppy
Mondraker and Unno?
Both were on our short list for the best high-end bike! But ultimately we wanted something with a bit more travel than the Foxy, and as rad as the Unno looks, it sadly doesn’t sound like the lucky folks who have ridden one have been overly impressed 😕
I ride giant reign 2
Do you really consider a Fox Performance Suspension with a Float X on an Enduro Bike a "good spec" for a bike north of 6000 $?
Are you talking about the Rallon? Like we said in the video, it’s not the best value in terms of part spec. If you’re looking to max that out check out the runner up we mentioned, the Canyon Strive CFR
Where would the Specialized Enduro fall on this list?
Great question! We almost had the Enduro Expert as one of our pics for the best race bike, but the frame is starting to show its age just a bit, and we’re suspecting specialized will be dropping a new one soon! 🤞🤞
Top 3...
Focus Sam (not e-bike)
the ever popular polygon collosus-n9
Very nice!! In case you missed it we slotted its little brother, the N7, as a runner up for the budget category 👌
No giant???
The Reign Advanced is rad! I can wait to see the alloy version, hopefully it comes out soon!
funny how 440 mm chainstays are concidered long
It's slowly becoming less the case, with longer rear ends coming back into vogue. But I'd say 435ish is still right around average
you keep saying 435mm chainstay lenght and on the photos i see 435mm

Oh man what a missed pun opportunity on my part 😂
Sworks enduro.
So you didn't actually ride any of these bikes?
Who in this world have 7,7 k to spend on bike
Not me 🤷♂️
All these bike reviews need to start doing blind taste tests, I'm sure 99% of the time all the bikes ride identically.
We’ve done a few side to side tests (though admittedly not blind, that would be logistically challenging lol) and it’s actually pretty surprising how noticeable the differences are when ridden back to back!
